Rating: Summary: What a way to start a new series! Review: This book really got you off and going on a new series. Ruby is one of the best V.C. Andrews books I have ever read!
Rating: Summary: "Ruby" is a heartwarming book full of surprises. Review: "Ruby" by V.C. Andrews is a heartwarming book full of surprises. I usually prefer murder mystery books, but, I really enjoyed reading this one. Around every corner something new and unexpected would happen.Ruby is a teenage girl trying to find her place in the world, althougoh along the way she is having several difficulties. She was brought up by her wise grandmother, her mother passed away and she knew nothing about her father. Love is something Ruby has many hardships with though out the book. First there is Paul, but something about their past is revealed which makes it impossible for them to be together. Later in the book more troubles with boys comes along, and she learns the jealousy and many mixed emotions that come along with love. After Ruby's grandmother passes away, she is left with her drunken grandfather. He hasn't been welcome to live with them for several years. After he starts making unfair deals, Ruby needs to save her self and the only way out is to leave. So, she keeps her promise to her grandmother and goes to New Orleans to find her father, and to excel in her art work. The rest of the book is about all the troubles she goes through adjusting to her twin sister and her step mom. They are a wealthy family, and very snobby. Ruby is a strong person and after all she goes through is able to come out okay. This book did a great job keeping me entertained. As Ruby unravels all the mysteries of her past, it was interesting to see what would happen next. Many surprising things happened that I would have never imagined, like finding out Paul was really Ruby's half brother. It was amazing all Ruby had gone through at such an early age. The things that happened to her were just plain twisted and out of the ordinary. For example, her grandfather sold her twin sister and her father never even knew she existed. There was a great mixture of greed and love. Overall the book was definitely worth reading. I enjoyed it and I think it could keep anyone hooked. The way the author puts the past story together piece by piece, and always having new shocking discoveries made the book very eventful. I recommend this to anyone who's up for reading a good book.
Rating: Summary: Good Read! Review: I love most all of V.C. Andrews, even if they prove to be slightly on the predictable side. This is a very exciting read, and like most of V.C. Andrews novels, you'll want to read the entire series, all of which are great. Extremely entertaining.
Rating: Summary: The best book I've ever read. Review: I loved the book Ruby. I couldn't put it down, I kept wondering what would happen to her next. As you read it you almost become Ruby going through her life. The description of events that happen to her are so terrible that you are hoping and praying that everything will turn out ok for her.
Rating: Summary: BEST WORK EVER Review: Let's face it...alot of V.C.Andrews work have little whiney woman, who have no back bone. They sit in the corner and cry and whine about how awful their lives are and how awful being born was, well this one is diffrent. Ruby has back bone...she say's what she feels, and she doesn't sit in a corner and cry the whole novel away. I became so frustrated with V.C. Andrews back when she wrote Dawn that I stoped reading her all together. But when I freind of mine gave me this book for a Birthday gift, I put it aside. Later when I was cleaning out my book shelves I found this one. I tossed it into the trash. But later when I found nothing new to read I picked it out...wanting something "light" to read. I opened it up...wondering how long it would be before I tossed this back into the trash! What a surprise, weather it's the new writer...or they just let this person do their own stories. But the result was pleasure! I have read all five..what a diffrence. The only thing that was a dissapointment, was the whole brother loves sister thing again. Let's face it, it has been over used, the whole thing is tiered. Hey, at least there's no abusive grandmother (thank goodness) that was really overused. The book is typical but the whole New Orleans setting was well researched, and written to almost perfection. Being a yearly travler to New Orleans, I was very impressed by how well that was done, felt like I was there, hearing the music...seeing the crowds...wonderful! Need more books with better researched places, stronger people. Please no more whiners and cry babies. Get rid of the brother sister thing, what is with that!!!! That is really getting into a weird areas!!! Stick with the normal...boy girl...I'll even go as far as girl-girl...boy-boy...but not the brother sister thing!!! In Flowers in the Attic it was diffrent, new, shocking. But now with V.C. Andrews dead...for many years, let the author who is-writing behind her name-do his or her own thing...it's time!! But all and all the story is simple...predictable...but the New Orleans setting is great!
Rating: Summary: No contest~This is the best book in the V.C.Andrews section Review: Although this is the best book i think that was written by the V.C.Andrews team, the beginning was a little slow...it got so wonderful and i could not put it down though so i would recommend it for sure!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK THAT ALMOST ALL READERS WOULD ENJOY. Review: This book is one of my favorite books. Once you open the cover you get into the book and it seems magical. She paints a picture beautifully that you can see what it looks like and smells like. I gave this book five stars because it was wonderful.
Rating: Summary: The first book to a marvelous series. Review: Ruby is an extremely moving novel. I have been to Louisiana twice now and after reading this book, I felt like I was there again. The descriptions are so true to form and the feeling is very much a real one. I have completed the Landry series and am reading it again for the second time.
Rating: Summary: Keeps you on the edge of your seat! Review: This was an excellant book. Every time something new would happen to Ruby and you thought you would know what would happen next there was a total turn around. There was great description and great dialogue. I recommend this book to anyone who likes V.C Andrews and her unique ways of writing.
