Summary: Fun read - children book thriller
Review: I am an adult, and during procrastination time I read this book. It is great. It talks exactly about a boy who wants it to be holiday season all the time. A strange person invites him to spend some time in a "Holiday House", where the children have fun all the time and don't have to do any work. They get to eat as many treats as they want, and commemorate Halloween and Christmas every day. However, the boy soon discovers that there are more secrets to the house and maybe the deal he got was not that great after all...
The idea behind this story is very creative, and if I were a kid, I would be somewhat scared.

Summary: Clive Barker's The Thief of Always...
Review: This book is a decent book for those 14 and under. I'm 16 and read it as it was recomended to me by my brother. I found the plot to be predictable and somewhat boring. I found otherwise obvious ideas were explained and oversimpilfied. The ending was nothing overly exciting... The book didn't do it for me. Recomended only for those under 14 or so... subba?

Summary: totally consuming
Review: that's exactly what this book is. the vivid detail from the setting to the characters feelings is astounding. harvey surmounts so much in this book it's very touching and lulu is the most magnanimous character i can recall from the many books i have read. mr. hood is very demonic, but only in the subtlest sense that's not revealed until towards the end. i read this book nonstop for two days, something i rarely do. great novel i can't wait to read more Barker!!

Summary: The Thief of Always (best book in the world)
Review: This was an excellent book. I strongly recommend it to people of all ages with a good imagination and sense of humor. Who couldn't love a story about a boy who is visiting a holiday house and literally takes a year away for each day he spends there? My favorite part was the whole book. It makes you think if there really is a place where you can go and encounter all the seasons in one day. Just make sure you have a good dictionary by your side as you read and you will be fine.

Review: I read Abarat, and really liked it, so I was disappointed when I read this one. I might have liked it, had I read it 'earlier on in life', but, such is not the case.
This is about a boy, Harvey, who is very bored. On the street, Harvey meets a man who tells him that he could go with him to a place were Harvey would never again be bored. Harvey follows him. Indeed, the place, Hood House, is a place were Harvey is never bored. He calls his parents, and they tell him to stay as long as he wants, saying they had arranged for it. Harvey is not suspicious, and takes the wonders of the house without question; every morning is spring, every noon is summer, every evening is fall, with Halloween and Thanksgiving, and every night is winter, with Christmas - it's all he ever could have asked for. But then, things start to happen.

Review: Clive Barker's novel,"The Thief of Always" is intended for children 10 and up. I read this book as an adult--I have a weakness for children's books and have the occasional urge to read one. This book was recommended to me by a friend who was lucky enough to have read it as a child, and she described it as a book she would always remember.The hero of "The Thief of Always" is a 10 year-old boy named Harvey. Boredom on a miserable February day causes Harvey to wish for "some fun." Suddenly, a rather repulsive and mysterious creature named Rictus enters Harvey's bedroom and invites him on a holiday where there will be endless fun. Harvey, a wise little boy, hesitates, but soon succumbs to the invitation. Harvey finds himself as a guest at Holiday House--the home of the mysterious Mr Hood. There are two other children there--Wendell, and Lulu. At first, Harvey has a simply wonderful time--all his wishes come true. But there is something rather strange going on--each day passes through 4 seasons--spring in the morning, long hot summer days in the afternoon, every evening is Hallowe'en, and every night is Christmas. It's all a little too good to be true, and Harvey begins to ask questions. Mrs Griffin, the housekeeper, seems too terrified to answer and admonishes Harvey to enjoy each day, but Harvey's persistence and curiosity eventually lead him to the horrible truth. This story offers many valuable lessons to the reader--young and old alike. Harvey's bravery, strength of character, and concern for the well-being of others make him a superb little hero. Great evil resides in the house, but Harvey discovers that "Evil, however powerful it seemed, could be undone by its own appetite." Ultimately, the moral of the tale is that time is a precious thing--something that should never be stolen or taken from others, and that we should enjoy each day of our lives and not squander our time or wish it away. Clive Barker added a narvellous introduction to the edition I own in which he describes his writing process, writing as a child, and how "The Thief of Always" was created.

Summary: The best book for imagination
Review: When it comes to imagination this can blow it away, the first time i read it was in 1998 and i must say i have read it about 17 times since!, i recomend this to any true fan of a closer to reality form of fantasy its not the same as other books by Barker but thats just another way to tell that its a one of a kind story and i gurantee that it will N-E-V-E-R get old!!!

Review: This is actually my friends book, I saw her reading it and asked if I could read it when she was done. The second I started reading, I couldn't put it down! Infact, I finished it the morning after I started. If you have children, the book SCREAMS to be read aloud, so please, buy it, read it, and share it aloud to others.

Summary: A Thinker
Review: I first picked-up this book when I saw it laying on my mom's bookshelf. I was bored of television and wanted something more interesting to hold my attention. I had been eyeing the book for quite some time because the cover was so captivating and the title seemed interesting. Anyway I started to read it and soon couldn't put it down. I have never read anything of Barker's before this book and let me say if you start off reading his work with this it's a good choice. The tone of the novel, the characters and the amazing detail and imagery he uses is just captivating. I read this book in two days because I found myself horrified at what might happen next, thinking that something would happen if I closed the pages. I can't say much about it, if you want to know what it's about read the editor's review, if I tell I'll probably give everything away. Let's just say this is the type of book that you will want to talk about with everyone, even if they read it or not.

Summary: Awesome Book!!!
Review: The Thief of Always by Clive barker is an excellent fantasy story that is suitible for everyone. I love this book. It's about a boy named Harvey who is bored and is tired with his life until a goblin like creature invites him to stay at the Holiday House where fun and games never end. But when Harvey discovers all of the deepest secrets among the house, he is frightened. Harvey most of all discovers that kids who come in never go out! This thrilling yet great story drags you into an armchair and never lets you put down the book, so read it!
