Rating: Summary: There were many exciting twists and turns. Review: I thought Sole Surviver was a winner. This book had so many twist and turns I couldn't put it down. Even though this was only my second book of his I think it my be one of his best. If you are starting to read his books pick this one it is great.
Rating: Summary: The books just keep getting better and better Review: I have read six of Koontz's books and "Sole Survivor" is the TOPS!!! There was not one slow part throughout this book. Even during the introduction of characters Koontz keeps you on the edge. This is a book anyone could read from cover to cover.
Rating: Summary: Suitable for "Touched by an Angel" TV fans Review: Dean Koontz is one of the best storytellers of the past 25 years. And Sole Survivor makes you keep reading, page after page, till you're hooked and have to see how it ends. But you'll need to be immune to Koontz's -- dare I say it: amateur -- attempts to fuse science and religion. And it'll also help if you share Koontz's Christian fervor, else you'll probably pitch the book into the round file when you're done.
Rating: Summary: Not Koontz's best. Review: Okay, emotional? Yes. Engaging? No. This is perhaps Koontz's WORST story ever. And yes, I'm a hardcore Koontz fan. I finished it ONLY because I hate not finishing books. Save your cash, folks. I wish I had.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing and predictable Review: Having read all on the favourable reviews this book has received (and read some of his previous works), it was with some confidence that I decided to purchase 'Sole Survivor'...big mistake ! As I ventured further into the book, chapter by chapter, I couldn't help feeling a growing sense of disappointment with the storyline and what was becoming an increasingly predictable ending. (Incidentally, why does Koontz appear to rush the concluding chapters in his novels ?). I don't think I will be revisiting this novel for a very long time.
Rating: Summary: A great book. Review: This was a really good book. Never lagging, and you never new what was going to happen next. This was also a very sad book. I hate to say it, but I was crying... Dean Koontz really knows how to mystify you.
Rating: Summary: a smartly written novel with a sentemental core. Review: I have read a couple of Koontz's novels. Nothing to make me an expert but enough to have some general knlowedge of how is books are. This book is a tough book to read. Its one of those books that the more you think about it the more you like it. As you probably know the plot I wont go through that again. In this novel there are sections that should go down in history as an example of how great fictionary story telling should happen. One section is the description of how the plane went down-Brilliant. The description of the institute-wait I wont give away some key plot but that description of the kids were great. Then theres the not so great. such as the middle of this novel. although not completley boring it could of used a little more..how do you say..action. The climax, althought suspensful, wasn't much of a climax. I've saved the best for last. The conclusion. This novel is not a thriller but a novel on the mening of life. The last page should go down as one of the most sentimental and best conclusion a person wrote Althoug there are more faults I could list I will let you read the book and decid for yourself. Although this book as faults it deserves a place in youre home library. Bravo Mr.Koontz.
Rating: Summary: My favorite audio book to date! Review: I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't bear to stop listening. I wish that it had been at least 20 tapes long. David Birney's reading made it all the more riveting. The characters were so real. I felt as if I was actually "there" witnessing the events as they unfolded. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I think listening to it made it even more enjoyable. Thanks Dean for great job!
Rating: Summary: TERRIBLE ENDING!!! Review: This book had a great story line and an exciting first half. However,in the second half of the book, the author just "Koontzed" with a totally unbelievable and wimpy ending!
Rating: Summary: One of his best! Go out and buy it. Review: Sole Survivor was the first Koontz book i've read by him and I really enjoyed it. Since then i've read others by him and have enjoyed them very much.I thought that the ending was very good.
