Rating: Summary: A thrilling thriller Review: This book was thrilling. A child, a mysterious woman and Joe Carpenter kept this story on the run. This story will keep you on our toes. A mysterious picture, the government, a child, a doctor and an underground group of people give this story a back bone that makes chills run up your back when you consider how likely something like that could happy. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good thrilling book to send their minds running to kepp up with it.
Rating: Summary: Possibly the best thriller in the world Review: This is the only book of Koontz that I have ever read, and, if the others are to the same standard then I MUST read them. This book is fabulous; totally gripping and you cannot put it down. I read the entire thing in one go (quite a feat considering its size). Buy it, read it... and you'll never be the same again. Its FAB!
Rating: Summary: One of Koontz's best Review: I started reading Sole Survivor while flying on an airplane - this I don't recommend. However, I strongly recommend starting this book any time you are on the ground. This story had so many bizarre, seemingly unrelated incidents, that I had no idea how he was going to put it together in a way that made sense - but in the end, it was well worth the trip.
Rating: Summary: A promising start but a disappointing ending Review: I was hooked at the start with the mysterious story of a man trying to figure out what really happened to his wife and daughters in a bizarre plane crash. But half-way through the novel Koontz ran out of gas and settled for a very contrived and boring ending. It reminds me of the action movies which rely on chase scenes and special effects instead of plot and character development to finish a good story. I'd like to see him go back and re-write the whole second half of the book but until then, I'm sorry I read it.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Books I've Ever Read Review: This book was absolutely great. This was my first time to read anything by Dean Koontz. I am an aviation buff, so that along with the book summary was what first made me read this. I loved it and found it hard to put down. The story is very suspenseful. I loved reading it as various events and details began to unfold. The end explanation for it all was a real surprise. I have recommended this book to several friends who read the book and also loved it.
Rating: Summary: Adroitly done Review: This is surprisingly good, and better written than some other Koontz blockbusters like "Hideway" and "Children of the Twilight". The plot unfolds in a manner that encourages the reader to keep going. The spiritual and social concerns featured in the novel are convincing and sincere, as opposed to some of Koontz's work where these concerns appear crude and not always credible. Tends to rise above the level of popular fiction. Great!!!
Rating: Summary: A book that will suck you in. Review: After reading many of Dean Knootz's books I would have to say that this was one of his best yet, you could not predict what was about to happen next. It was not similar to any of his other books that I have read. If you are a fan you should put this one on your must read list.
Rating: Summary: It's pretty good, but not his best work Review: This was the first book by Dean Koontz that I have read ( it was assigned reading ) and at that time I thought it was excellent. Since then however, I've read three more of his works. Sole Survivor was not on the same level as Mr. Murder, Watchers, or The Door to December, all of which I highly recomend. The plot soon became predictible and even boring in some places. The ending seemed rushed and incomplete. If you haven't already become a fan of Mr. Koontz work, this will probably get you hooked. If you have, this may dissapoint.
Rating: Summary: Dean Koontz sparked my interest and now I'm HOOKED! Review: I am a 34 year old woman and have never been interested in reading until Dean Koontz sparked my interest and now I am hooked. Reading this book was like watching a movie in your mind there was noway to stop the movie and come back later and finish watching it. I have read several of his books since this one and have not been disappointed in any of them.
