Summary: If there was 11, I would grade it 12!
Review: This book is the greatest of everything I've read (and I read a lot of King's work). Recommanded for EVERYBODY!

Summary: I HAD to put it down.
Review: I have read most of Mr. King's books; and it is with all due respect of the man and his great talent that I say this; Insomnia was too long and not that interesting. I'm used to his books reaching out and holding on to my imagination, but, this one didn't do that.

Summary: The Best
Review: I feel that this was one of his best. It was just like a fantasy. The characters were very lovable and I even shed a tear at the end of the book. Very strange for a King book!! I always enjoy reading his books although I've been real bored a few times. This was one I did not want to put down and will probably read it again.

Summary: Having Trouble Sleeping? This book will MAKE you fall asleep
Review: Insomnia was an uninteresting, horrible novel. Usually, Stephen King surprises me with sophisticated writing, interesting plots, and story lines that are fairly simple to follow. This book is a rare exception, being neither interesting or sophisticated in word form. King's summary was more interesting than the entire book! The main charictor is supposed to discover "the people in the small town of Derry, Maine turning into monsters straight from Hell." But instead, the reader finds himself bored almost to tears over a story based on ongoing beatings--which is as far as I got before I fell asleep, lamp on and book in hand! I would reccomend highly that you forget this book entirely, moving on to better works of King literature (such as "It", or "Thinner").

Summary: A continuation of Stephen King's decline.
Review: I am a huge fan of Mr. King. I would not presume to write this review were that not so. Yet in the last books he's delivered (Gerald's Game forward) it seems that he is writing too quickly to deliver the goods. Insomnia is a compilation of borrowed ideas undistinguished by the freshness King has brought to some of his subjects in the past (e.g. Salem's Lot). You get sleep deprivation-induced transportation to 'higher levels', a demon much like Koontz's 'Watcher' who lives under the roots of a great evil tree ala 'The Empire Strikes Back' collecting a voodoo collection of items from his victims. This 'Watcher' wields the 'scissors of fate' over his victims by cutting their invisible 'life line' (was this a Twilight Zone plot several times over??) You even get a predictable 'Lady or the Tiger' ending in which, unbelievably, the answer is obvious, and because of our knowlege of the 'higher levels' of existence extant throughout the novel, packs no punch. The development of the 'dark force' involved here, also, is too vague to grip, scare, or even really concern the reader. What Mr. King needs is a good editor, or even a friend who is not intimidated by his great gifts, who is willing to point out these shortcomings in the manuscript phase. Maybe he will find this aid with his new house. It remains that there are still short passages in each of King's books that hit you, in their power and clarity, like a physical blow. It is for this reason that I buy all of his books in hardcover, and will continue to do so. I'm afraid, however, that these incredible passages are becoming separated by greater and greater distances filled with undeveloped leaps and characterization that make you wonder if Mr. King is taking the time to develop the subjects in his own mind before sharing them with us.

Summary: Great Book! Definately Not A Cure For Insomnia.
Review: Ralph Roberts is one of my favortie fictional characters. He is kind, stubborn and very human. You quickly find yourself liking and relating to him. The book, Insomnia, is a good read. It's not too scary, but even after weeks having read the book, I still find myself getting a little nervous when I lay or sit down. I keep visualizing a little short invisable man with a rusty scalple, cutting my balloon string...

Summary: One of King's better ones...
Review: I was fascinated at the interweaving of characters to supernatural occurences.

Summary: Probably the best book of Stephen King!!
Review: Insomnia was Stephen King's first book I read. After that, I also read The Stand, Needfull Things, Rose Madder, Eyes of the Dragon, Thinner, Desperation and some others. I still think, that Insomnia is his best book. Especially because of the combination of paranomal stuff (you know, aura's and so) with his own fantasies. So everybody who's interested in such things should read this book! Arnout Lie.

Summary: King at his best!
Review: This is definitely one of King's finest books yet. I have been an avid reader for years and I am always amazed at how King can bring your biggest fears to life through your imagination. Read it and enjoy!

Summary: Insominia cure, more like
Review: "Sleeping Pill" would have been a better title. This hefty lap-crusher is an unbelievable slog, an absolute disappointment from the repetative, meandering start to the drawn out finish. Where, oh where has my Stephen King gone?
