Summary: This book is not a testament to King's talent.
Review: Prior to this book's publication, I read a magazine article where King explained during an interview that he was writing a book titled Insomnia. He revealed that he had to abandon his work because the plot was not working out. Mr. King, what on Earth ever made you change your mind? I abandoned your book after page fifty for the very same reason not to mention that it was BORING. A more appropriate title may have done your book better justice -- like SOPORIFIC or SLUMBEROUS.

Summary: a can't put down book
Review: I read only his books and some are not as good as others but to me thay are all 10s to me. I got this book for Christmas and I was done with it in just a few days. If there is ever a part two I would haft to read it just to see if it would be a good.

Summary: FANTASTIC
Review: INSOMNIA is one of King's best works. This story take the reader through several emotions: terror, with DR. #3; sadness, with the toture of the dog; joy, at besting the plans of the Crimson King and satisfaction that all ends well. I think this book, in particular, gives some insight into some of King's theories on various subjects.

For example, his ideas on where items go when they are lost and never found (DR. 3, under the tree). Also, his feelings on stages of death and afterlife(colored auras, cutting the string). And planes of existence (there are other worlds than ours). I have always enjoyed reading King and being able to peek into his psyche.

Summary: Stephen King meets James Mitchener
Review: Even through there is only a broad outline of a story line here, I kept turning pages. This is not a book to be read in a hurry. I have to give the author credit for creating a fantastic world of images in my minds-eye based upon what I read. I never knew what was next or how the next event would play out. The sequence under the tree with Doc #3 is a good example.

Summary: Ralph Roberts - Geriatric Hero
Review: While I tend to be like most reviewers I've seen here in thinking that my favorite King books were written before 1984, I do find this books interesting, compelling, thought-provoking and fun to read. Ralph is your typical Everyman, except for the fact that he's an elderly widower. He's dry-witted and common sensical, the way most of us would like to be when we get that age. He's sane, pretty healthy, well-liked, and stands out from the crowd as one for what's right(remember him at the beginning with the beat-up wife). I have to say that I do find some of the narration long and making some tiresome paces. King sometimes writes like a modern day Dickens, thinking he'll get paid for every word he publishes. But here, I do think it helps give us a good color for the story. Reading the book again, the underlying plot of the supernatural reasons behind what happens tends to sound pretty lame. BUT I do like the book. It's one of King's less gory tales of right and wrong, where you tend to know who is on what side and what everybody brings to the table (so to speak). Buy the paperback, read it over and over. PIcture your favorite older actor as Ralph Roberts and imagine this as a movie.

Summary: I thought it was one of his Best!
Review: I thought it was great. I've been reading King since I was 11. This book was really interesting, I couldn't put it down!

Summary: Jesus, help this man.
Review: Hey, I'm a big fan of Stephen King; O.K.? But, this is not good. All these reviews saying how great this one is. HEY! HAVE YOU READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY! Come on, read "Dead Zone" and "The Stand" or several of the ones that made this man the 'king' of his gendre; but don't give me this crap that this book was worth the expense of buying and reading it. I did, and like all of King's work, there were moments... but he can do better, he has before and (hopefully) he will again. Otherwise, I'll drop him like a koontz!

Summary: It wasn't the best book he ever wrote.
Review: I just finished reading this and would to say "It cured my Insomnia". It was long, and drawn out. I collect Stephen King's books and in fact have over 35of his hard cover books. This one will sit on the shelf with the others but it will be along time before it comes down.

Summary: Did King write this under the influence of Unisom??
Review: My problem with about half of Stephen King's fiction is that it gets stupid about halfway through. I picked up this mammoth tome with some trepidation, but also with glowing reviews from a few friends of mine. Boy were they WRONG! The plot was interesting (if not dreadfully slow) until ... you guessed it ... about halfway through. Unfortunately, I had invested hours in reading what I had finished and I just couldn't stop. Now I wish I had. Clotho and Lachesis are the two worst characters in contemporary American fiction (and you can quote me on that). Mr. King gets a 2 from me because he kept me reading... but certainly NOT for keeping me interested.
