Summary: This book is da bomb
Review: This book is one of the best written books i have ever read. The Author reflects the characters' emotions very well. It seems very realistic although it is fictional

Summary: not (only) for king lovers
Review: Many readers of this book said it was bad written and just really boring... well, i am from germany and am reading this book in english now and althought that alone is a challenge, i have to say: i love it! it is true, that this book is nothing like the other king's, because it lacks on describtions of gross corps and bloody events. but if you like the plot, it is not hard to read at all! in fact, i think that is the first stephen king book, i read, that caught me from the beginnning on...

the abortion question might be a reason, why some people don't like it, but after all, it is not the pro life group steven king opposes, but stubborness of people, who just fight for the sake of fighting. and the intollerance that comes with that.

i really really liked that book!

Summary: Just plain bad
Review: I've been a Stephen King fan all my life and this one...well it's a letdown. I read it awhile back and only recall being very disappointed. I finished it because I kept hoping it would get better. For those of you who liked it, you must not have read some of his better work, which is just about anything else he's written thus far. It's comforting that, more often than not, he doesn't let his faithful readers down.

Summary: 7 stars! no 10! no well you get the point.
Review: My sister gave me a beautiful Hardcover edition of Insomnia, that she picked up at a second hand book store, and I read the honkin' (huge!) thing in about 6 days, never putting it down! This is the ultimate ultimate ULTIMATE! This book had so many things tied up in it! I don't even know where to start! The usual Job came into it as it always does, but there were so many parts to it, I can't "sum" it up! This is not a very scary book at all, so if one can get over the hugeness of it, I completely and totally recommend it! The ending was incredibly sad, but also a little disturbing, I'm not sure I understand it completely......

Summary: One of King's best, subtle yet in your face, many-layered.
Review: I just re-read this book and have decided this is one of my favorites of his. It has all the typical hallmarks of King's work: writing that flows without being wordy, fabulous depth of characterization, unusual and interesting plots, and enough spooky to make anyone look behind the closet door after finishing this book late at night. I love King's ability to see around the corner, to illuminate the weird side of life that is just on the other side of normal. I love the way he writes, period. And in this book, somewhat unusually, the good guys do win (although I don't want to get into the whole abortion thing). Good triumphs over evil, and I like that when it happens in his books. Worth a re-read if you haven't lately, and worth buying if you've passed it by before.

Summary: Besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?
Review: Oh come now. This seems to be hands down the book that has angered the most people for its political undertones. If you ask me, while the pro-life movement was savaged, not many of the pro-choicers came off especially clean either. (And let us not forget whose head gets shaved clean off at a crucial moment.) I found the battle in this book in the abortion wars to be one that was at least more credible than the ludicrous Catholics vs. the Baptists bloody subplot of the even more ludicrous "Needful Things." As for this book spouting feminist dogma, I see nothing wrong with King writing novels in which women are empowered to take their lives into their own hands for once, and find strength to do so. True, the revelation of newfound lesbianism in one of the key characters at the end seems to have come out of nowhere, but I see this novel for more than the politics. I found this an engaging, sprawling tale that, for the most part, comes together in that uniquely King way. (Face it folks... the man can not only write, but he writes WELL.) The part involving an evil ring does not seem to go anywhere except to prove to us that King has read Tolkien. We never seem to find out the real significance of the ring, but it does give Ralph Roberts ample opportunity to quote "Lord of the Rings" (which he does over and over again.) But I did enjoy this book a lot. I still hold that Tommyknockers, Dolores Claiborne and Misery are my favorites by King, but this one combines all of my favorite King elements: myriad characters, myriad weird events, and bizarre coincidences. Why at one point in this story, I almost expected the Three Fates to drop by... and surprise, they do! The blend of down to earth New Englanders, demons, Fates, references to other novels and a magic Port-A-Potty are those things that make King an enjoyable and unpredictable read every time. Kudos Stephen! The rest of you, just sit back some wintry evening, and enjoy this novel. It's worth it.

Summary: Very good! I loved it..
Review: I thought this was a great book, some people say it was hard to read and I don't think it was.. And I'm not an avid reader.. I only read a book when it interestes me.. But I love Stephen King and Insomnia was wonderful! He did a great job describing details and you really felt you were right there with the characters, seeing what they saw, feeling what they felt.. It was great I never wanted to put it down, but had to!

Summary: Stephen's worst book!
Review: This is his most boring book, I couldn't finish it. Every character has a childish mind and behavior. Stephen wrote this book just thinking about how would it look like on the screen, with the visual efects. I recomend this book to children between 12-15. Don't waste your time/money with Insomnia, only if you ARE with insomnia: you'll always sleep like a log after 20 pages!

Summary: Out there -- even for King
Review: This is the 25th book by Stephen King I have read, and I have to say I was fascinated by this book. It is like nothing else King has ever written. I did not just love this book, as I did think it was unbelievable at times, but King did such a good job explaining death and creating a strange, plausible reason why people die that I did find it fascinating. The problems with this book were many --- especially the anti-climactic "final battle" sequence, but for die hard King fans it is worth reading. I would rank this about 19th out of the books I have read by King with The Dead Zone, The Stand, and Different Seasons being the top three. (Tommyknockers 25th)

Summary: The Man's Worst (Besides Eye Of The Dragon)
Review: If you are like me, and do not even consider "Eye Of The Dragon" to be a real Stephan King book, then "Insomnia" must truely be his worst. My interest level was minimal throughout, so it took me more than a year to finish. It is simply not a page-turner. Conservatives, stay away from this book; it espouses more feminist dogma than even "Gerald's Game."
