Rating: Summary: The darkness is closing in and the struggle for light is on. Review: I've read all of the Night World books and I think that this is simply one of the best. I love Keller's no-nonsense attitude and tough exterior, yet she's got a sensitive side too. And Galen...he's really persistent it really snagged my heart everytime he said: "You're the one..." and how it was always so obvious that he was in love with Keller. Iliana seemed like such an airhead, but L.J. Smith really knows how to develope her characters and by the end of the book, I actually liked Iliana. The poem that was left by Keller's mother really got stuck in my head.
People die... Beauty fades... Love changes... And you will always be alone... I'm sure lots of people have felt that way sometime or other.
I sure hope that Keller meets up with Jez and Rashel, I mean their all so good at their jobs, and they're such strong fighters. They'd be great together, with Nissa of course and Poppy to add that bit of witch influence. I'm wondering when I get to hear about all the characters from the previous books like Ash and Mary-Lynette, and Kestral and Rowan, and Thea and Blaise. And not to mention all the really hot guys, but when do I get to hear more about witch or 'shifter guys?
I hope the Night World series keeps going on, I could never get sick of the soulmate principle, there should just be more variety of things happening and we should see more of the earlier characters and new ones too of course, to add some spice. I can hardly wait 'til the next book comes out so I can rush to the stores to seek it out.
The Night World has all you could ask for strong willed girls, hot-yet-sometimes-cold-vampire boys and girls, witches with magic, and the wildness and variety of the 'shifters, danger, and......................Love...
In the quietness of the night- we find a little of ourselves, and we await the end- in darkness or light.....
If anyone would like to talk about L.J. Smith books, the Night World, or even vampires (ie. Vampire: the Masquerade). e-mail me...and if you haven't already, you should definately READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Nightworld Rules!
Review: Witchlight is a good book, but definitely not one of my favourites in the nightworld series. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate them as following: 1. Daughters of Darkness. (If you want to have a great time and laugh your head off at the spunky Mary-linnette, and the downright dangerous Ash 'who are a perfect couple, they just don't know it yet' then feast your mind on this.) 2. Huntress (is awsome. I love both Jez and Morgan. The plot is fast paced, with a wonderful ending.) I will skip all the rest of the numbering. I'll just mention that the Secret Vamipre is also one of the best and that Dark angel followed closly by Witchlight were my two least favourite. The characters don't seem as well developed in Witchlight as in all the other nightworld books, while Dark Angel focused more on the Angel who wasn't anybody's soulmate. They were not as satisfying as the other Nightworld books. I have one last question which has been bugging me for 2 years now. Lisa Jane Smith was supposed to write Strange Fate (the tenth and last of the nightworld series) two years ago. It had been postponed and moved to a year later, however now it is even past that time. Does anyone know if she still intends to print it? By the way, for those who are wondering, the last book is about 2 witches. A witch from the circle twilight, and one from circle midnight (or something like that). If I remember correctly the main character (who's name starts with S (maybe Sarah)) thinks she's in love with some other vampire. Search me but it all sounds confusing. If anyone has any info on Strange Fate, then can they please share it? Thank you.
Rating: Summary: Lisa Jane Smith's Witchlight is great! Review: I liked Keller. I liked Galen. I even like Iliana. It was as usual a great story. I just didn't think the romance was very well developed in this book but as usual the way Lisa Jane Smith writes draws me into the magical world she has created. I am desperate to read another book by her, having read every book she's written except Heart of Valor and that only was because I can't get my hands on it. If anyone else is looking for someone to read until L.J.'s next book here are some of my suggestions:Annette Kurtis Clause, Sweep series by Cate Tieran, Isobel Birds Circle of Three, Companions of the night (Vivian Vende Velde? I think that's how it's spelled) Christopher Pike and the daughters of the moon series.
Rating: Summary: Witchlight is awsome! Review: Witchlight is a great book. i love all the books by l.j. smith. keller is a shapeshifter who is brought in by the circle daybreak to protect iliana harman, a lost witch, witch child and one of the 4 wild powers who can bring darkness and the rule of the night world back or distory it. keller was left by her mother when she was a baby and couldn't get out of her half human half panther form. winnie, a witch, and nissa, a vampire, are keller's partners in keeping iliana away from the night world and the dragon that someone from the night world some how found and woke up. also they have to try to get iliana to beleive that she is the wild power. Galen is from the house of the shapeshifters and is thought to be the witch childs soul mate. mean while keller and galen are discovering that they are really soulmates. i think anyone who likes things a little on the weird side this is a great series.
Rating: Summary: An impressive way to keep the series going... Review: L.J. Smith has been one of my favorite authors, and I keep up with her series, Night World. I think that Witchlight was one of her best books yet. I liked how Iliana was not the entire focus of the book, and that every occurrence in the Day World tied into the emerging powers. Having Keller and Galen as soulmates was a wonderful idea, because it took Galen to change Keller's negative attitude on life. I thought the characters were beautifully written, and the plot as a whole would keep someone interested. As for the whole repetitive character thing that some critics keep saying...Iliana's violet eyes are SUPPOSED to clue the clueless in on the fact that she is a true Harman. Yes, there may have been some similarities in characters, but this minor detail keeps the story tied together. (would you rather she had flourescent pink eyes?)
Rating: Summary: Wonderful as usual Review: This latest story set in the Night World is L.J. Smith at her best. Galen, the hero isn't the usual tough guy. He's kind and sweet without ever being wimpy. Keller and Iliana are amazing characters as well, even if Iliana does start a little ditzy. You (or at least I) can't help but care about the characters and hope that somehow everything works out at the end. The back of the book is slightly misleading - Galen is NOT destined to be the Iliana's soulmate - he's destined to be her husband. As those familiar with the Night World know, that's a big difference. For those who aren't familiar with the Night World this book probably isn't the one to start with. If you don't want to start all with the first book in the series (Secret Vampire), which is also absolutely amazing, you might want to try Huntress (book 7)as that's the book where the concept of Wild Powers and the end of the world is first explained.
Rating: Summary: FOR ALL WHO AWAIT STRANGE FATE! Review: Ok here goes... I am a DEDICATED L.J Smith fan so I have been looking all over for the info on Strange Fate the 10th (and supposedly last) Night World book in the series and I have FINALLY come up with the answer. This will probably be a little dissapointing (well actually alot) Strange Fate will not be published until Spring of 2003 and will not be shelves until very early 2004! Please don't kill the messenger just go to nightworld.net and see for yourself!
Rating: Summary: Dark, sexy, amazing Review: I started reading the nightworld series all those years ago with the secret vampire and ever since then each time a new book was published you'd bet i'd be the first one to get them. My review isn't exactly a review but hopefully some useful info for all you fellow circle daybreakers out there. The reason why strange fate hasn't been published yet is partly because it isn't finished and because lisa-jane has been quite ill and therefore unable to carry on with the book. This is from Whsmith in birmingham, England from 2 years ago so it could change.
Rating: Summary: a really good book Review: this is the 9th book of the night world series and it involves a girl name keller who is also a shapeshifter and member of circle daybreak whos mission is to find and protect the legendary Witch Child who happens 2 be a clueless blonde airhead and she is also the 3rd Wild Power needed 2 save the world at the end of the millennium. i thought this was a really good book to read but i think sum of the parts were kinda boring especially that iliana whines like a little sissy. but overall its a really good book and i recommend it 2 all the night world fans out there
Rating: Summary: Good but...... Review: This series got off to a slow start but picked up midway with book 2, "Daughters of Darkness" and tapered off with book 7, "Huntress." In December 1997 book 10, "Witchlight" came out and the book gave the feeling that something big was coming. That this was really just the beginning. It's shame we never get to it. We haven't seen a book from L.J. Smith since. It's been almost 5 years and I have feeling we won't be seeing the installment in the series anytime soon. After having to wait this long the momentum is just... GONE. LOST. I advise to read any of her trilogies that start & finish, if you don't want to be left hanging. "Dark Visions," "The Forbidden Game," & "The Secret Circle." Plus the 4 parter "Vampire Diaries."
