Rating: Summary: It's Buffy done right Review: Golden knows his Buffy. And he knows that it's not HIS Buffy. He plays the What If game to great effect. He sets up his adventure much like the episode The Wish. Anyone can die. Some of them do. He wonderfully captures the personalities of all the scoobies (bonus points for his treatment of Oz). It's well worth the embarrassment I felt when I picked up a book from the young adult section( right next to Sweet Valley High and Charmed). Save yourself that trouble, buy online.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, great story, great fun Review: Golden shows why he has written so many Buffy Books, comics, and even video games. He has a wonderful grasp on the characters and what drives them. A wonderful "What-if" story that allows Golden to leave the normal confines of the the shows history and present a future look at the Buffy gang without the limitations of the shows writers. This allows Golden to have fun with the Buffy characters in the future, but he always keeps them based in the characters spirit. Moments that will make you cry and skipping pages to see what happens next.
Rating: Summary: This is my favorite book of all time Review: I just have to start out by telling you that this book is AWESOME! I loved every single page of this book. I couldnt put it down. I finished it in one afternoon. This book is extremely well-written. Golden is a god and my favorite Buffy/Angel novel writer. Just to give you a little background on the book, Ill tell you the basic premise. Buffy is feeling left out during the beginning of her college life and a prophecy of great danger doesnt help out too much. One mistake sends her 5 years in the future where she is forced to try to correct her mistakes. That's all I'm gonna say about it because I dont want to give too much away. I just want to urge you to buy this book right now. Whether you are a buffy fan or not, you will be more of one after reading this excellent book.

Rating: Summary: Buffy's ultimate nightmare Review: I loved the premise of this book. Buffy is forced into a future that she herself is responsible for. And it is a nightmarish future where one of her closest friends is really the ultimate enemy. Since I read the four serial books as one book I thought there was alot of over lapping that could have been done without. There were also times where the battle scenes could have been a bit shorter and more to the point. I loved the story though and it made me cry some to see what that future held.
Rating: Summary: Slow start but exciting ending Review: I purchased this book in serial form. The first book was a pretty slow start. The characters felt two dimensional and the storyline shallow. Quite frankly, I almost didn't buy the second book in the series. I'm glad I did. After a disappointing beginning, the book picked up the pace in the second book and I found mself very interested how the story was going to develop and how Buffy and the Scoobies were going to save the day.
Had the first book in the series been a bit more excing, I would have given the story a full five star rating, but it finished well enough to deserve a four out of five.
Rating: Summary: An Awesome Read Review: I'm a huge Buffy fan. This book was really awesome. The futuristic detail, and the description of the characters were awesome. I loved Willow in this book, and the veiw Buffy had on her. What happened to Xander was very upsetting especially since his and Buffy's reunion was short before the fighting stated again. I've never read a book better it was awesome.
Rating: Summary: Staked Through the Heart Review: It would be difficult to conceive of a better media tie-in than The Lost Slayer. Golden has crafted a mesmerizing story that pulls no punches and faithfully, eerily, captures the characters we've come to love. Originally published in four parts, The Lost Slayer starts out slow but builds momentum like a snowball rolling down a hill until the reader is buried in an avalanche of action and emotion. Nineteen-year old Buffy has found herself catapulted into her twenty-four year old body, and into a world where the vampires control much of Southern California and many loved ones are dead . . . or worse. No character is sacred to Golden in this alternate future; some never make it to that future, and those that do quickly start dropping like flies. Look for appearances by Drusilla, Wesley, and even Parker the Slayer Seducer. There are only a couple down-sides to The Lost Slayer. It starts slow, and the alternate future portion ends a hundred pages before the book does; the final confrontation with an evil bat god falls a little flat after Buffy's experiences in the future. Yet The Lost Slayer is an immensely pleasurable read, a diversion that is impossible to put down once it gets going.
Rating: Summary: Welcome to Bizarroland... Review: Struggling to cope with the demands of college and Slaying, Buffy Summers finds herself torn between the two, with her friends caught in the middle. Then, a fatal mistake leads to a magical 'hijacking', and Buffy's soul is flung forward in time, five years, to an Sunnydale ruled by vampires. Trapped in the body of her twenty-four year-old self, Buffy must defeat her greatest and most personal nemesis, while struggling to cope with the drastically changed world around her. "The Federal government doesn't want the rest of America to know what's going on... They've given us two months." "Then what?" "I'm guessing napalm." This is a superb book. First and foremost, that should be thrown out there. Chris Golden is the King of Buffy tie-ins, and The Lost Slayer is up there as my all-time favourite. His characterisation is always right on the money, and the 'alternate' scenario allows him to play with relationships and evolve the characters along the path the book sets out. It's shocking to see how the characters have been affected by the events portrayed in the book: Oz is a melancholic spirit, his wolf side now completely at his will, Xander is a broken, bitter military type, shattered by past events, while Willow has grown into a powerful leader and Wiccan. But the most terrifying change is with Giles... There are so many little moments in this book that are just spectacular. There are throw-away lines to tie in with both book and show, an appearance by Lucy Hanover (a common idea in some of Chris' bigger Buffy books, but an excellently portrayed one), season four's Parker Abrams, as well as a brief mention of the Initiative (this story takes place just after the beginning of Season Four, shortly after "The Harsh Light of Day"). It is the ultimate Buffy tie-in book, and one that all Buffy fans should read. By the end, I promise you that you will be so hooked, you will be staring open-mouthed at the conclusion of the 'alternate future' storyline. It's an idea that would have worked just as well (or perhaps less well, even) on the screen (small or big), and the scope is simply astounding. Spanning five years, heartbreaks, loss, and change, The Lost Slayer is a book that should be on every Buffy fan's shelf.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Adventure, Very Dark Slayer Novel Review: The plot of this very long book (origanally a 4 part serial) is Buffy is shot five years into the future. Her absense has created a nilistic world where Willow, Oz, and Xander are recruited in a government operation that combats evil with the Watcher's council. Angel is missing, and Giles is the King Vampire, with Spike and Drucilla his enforcers. She now has to stop Giles, and get back to her own time. The book is very fast paced, however at almost 600 pages, it gets a little (ok, very) weary. All the charactors are dark and too brooding, even class clown Xander. In the POW catagory is Angel and Faith. Angel is missing, Faith killed and replaced by a new younger Slayer that is bitter at Buffy. Also Wesley is back, acting more like the Wesley of the later seasons of "Angel". This really is a great book, Iliked it a lot. The only thing is the excessive length.
