Rating: Summary: Book Review Review: Zoë is going through some hard times. Her mother is in the hospital because she is dying of cancer; her best friend, the only person she really talks to is moving away; her father is so depressed he barely even looks at her; and she has befriended her stocker, a vampire. Simon has been hunting sown his older brother Christopher. Simon's out to get revenge on Christopher for killing their mother. But Simon need's help, he can't do it on his own so Zoe volunteers to help him out. Annette Curtis Klause is an amazing writer. It is impossible to put this book down once you start reading it. Her story is so mesmerizing and you can really get into Zoë's shoes. I enjoyed this book, The Silver Kiss, very much and recommend that you read Blood and Chocolate.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely embracing... Review: This is a book about... Well, it is somewhat of a chick book. But don't let that stop you from grabbing this one off the shelves.Klause's debut novel mesmerizes young adults with her style of writing. Zoe, the main character, has to deal with her mother lying in the hospital with cancer. Her father is worried beyond belief, and it seems that Zoe gets shunned to the side. People don't understand that Zoe needs her just as much as her father. Except one person... A sleek boy, in a leather jacket, with blonde hair, and a silver aura around him comes into her life. His name is Simon, and he brings her life into a new perspective, if you will. Simon's character development is one of the more complex ones, coming from a limited PoV. His past is so complex, and without it, the plot seems absolutely pointless. He is a vampire, who has lived through generations, and now he finally must kill his brother. Through his personal paranoia, and his new found love for Zoe, he wonders if he can actually succeed in the deed after so long. But he realizes, he is no longer alone. I especially liked... The writing style was spectacular. It isn't like most young adult novels. It had a certain flare to it, that kept my eyes glued to the pages. The characters at wondrous, and believable. Klause takes the melodrama and uses it to the fullest. I didn't like... Too short. It struck only 200 pages, and I am used to the 500 page fantasy/horror novels. I'm not being prejudice against it or anything. But I think that this novel could have succeeded in creating an epic romance story. When I finished this book I wanted to... Perhaps give some romance a chance. Usually, I have been shutting the romance genre` off from my reading. But since I was obsessive with vampires, I figured I'd give this one a chance. Now that I have, I thirst for more of the passionate style of writing that comes with the tales of romance. This book made me feel... Contemplative. I looked out the window, and just thought about the book, in all sorts of ways. I replayed it like a movie all the way through, sometimes rewinding to watch my favorite parts... The author of this book... This was Annette Klause's debut novel. Coming into the picture with such an astounding novel deserves nothing less than a round of applause.
Rating: Summary: Different Review: This is not what typically young adults are used to reading. It is different yet mesmerizing. Each chapter leaves you eager to know what happens next. It deals with real life issues and problems. Zoe's terminally ill mother and Simon's coping with loss are all significant aspects of life today. Great book you will enjoy it!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down. Review: I saw this book at my school library and decided it look great. So I checked it out an read it in two nights. It was wonderful! Zoe is a normal girl, described so well you feel as though she's one of your best friends, and Simon is described as perfectly as any vampire could be. He seems a little sexy at that, too. Zoe's facing hardships just like Simon, and eventually they learn to love each other and themselves. I think it's a perfect mix of romance and horror.
Rating: Summary: heartbreaking, but full of hope and inspiration Review: This book was great. I loved it. Good vocabulary, good characterization of the plot, and the two main characters, Zoe and Simon, were the best of all. Each was going through the heartache of losing a loved one, and through their wits, love, and devotion, overcame evil, and found a sense of inner peace. Even though the ending was extremely melancholy, ( I myself cried at Zoe's most priceless loss, Simon), it depicts the pain and anguish that must be felt for a young person who has lost a parent. It was also very sensual, but I could see the real love that both Zoe and Simon felt for each other. The plot was full of action, and suspense is nothing new to the writing of annete curtis clause. The inner strugle between two teens is displayed here in this part romance, part horror story. This is a wonderful genre of romantic thriller,s and I always enjoy horror and suspense stories with love and romance in them. I still haven't forgotten this book, and never will. Also recommended: Tenderness by robert Cormier, Nightworld: Secret Vampire, and Bram Stoker's Dracula
Rating: Summary: =*) simply wonderful!!!~ Review: This story starts out with this teenage girl (named Zoe) with her mother at her death bed and her best friend moving away. She is emotionally unstable and feels that no one understands her pain. This is until she meets this boy name Simon. He is no ordinary boy, he is a vampire who has been searching for his mother's killer for over 300 years. By fate, Simon and Zoe run into each other. Both understanding each other's pain help one another through the hardship. A romantic relationship flourishes between them which is JUST BEAUTIFUL!!! I won't give toooooo much detail. That's about all i'lll say. I read this book like back when...... like 5-6 years ago and till this day, it is still a wonderful story. I wish it never ended the way it did. Well personally, i'm not really into romance novels and stories... blah blah.... but this story blew my mind. It is simply wonderful. The way the author gives great details on each character is extraordinary. I would strongly recommend purchasing this GREAT BOOK!!~ Don't have second thoughts... if so then go to your local library and borrow the book. -*-Lady Serinity-*-
