Summary: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: She said quotable things, a lot
Review: Chances are that nothing ever said on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" will ever make it into "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations," so Micol Ostow and Steven Brezenoff have attempted to correct for that shortcoming by compiling "The Quotable Slayer." This paperback also presents a more convenient alternative to flipping through your editions of "The Watcher's Guide" for the "Quotable Buffy" or the "Quote of the Week" for each episode, and it also avoids getting into ephemeral language, loose idioms, and mixed etymologies such as Michael Adams provides in "Slayer Slang: A 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Lexicon." What "BtVS" fans get here is a walk down memory lane through the one-liners and choice dialogue from the seven seasons of the show.
"The Quotable Slayer" is divided into sections devoted to Quotable Slayer (1-14); Quotable Watcher (15-23); Quotable Scoobies, which covers Willow, Xander, Angel/Angelus, Cordelia, Spike, Oz, Anya, Riley, Tara, and Dawn (24-81); and Quotable Other People, which includes Faith, Wesley, and Other Others (82-88). For me the key section is "Buffy On..." which looks at the specific topics of Slaying, Authority, Knowledge, Big Bad, Fashion, Food, Holidays, Money, Fear (Itself), War, Evil, Sex/Dating (interesting order, huh?), Friendship, Love, Religion, Miscellaneous, and Quotable Music ("Once More With Feeling") and Quotable Finale ("Chosen") for the big finish (89-202).
For me that lengthy last section is key because I really was hoping "The Quotable Buffy" would be arranged so that you could look by choice Slayer quotes about vampires, parenting, dating, and other modern horrors. But I know that a "Bartlett's" style index where you can find every quote in "The Quotable Slayer" that uses the words "spell," "bloody" or "vengeance demon." If you are looking for a particular quote, say Vamp Willow's "Bored now" from "Doppelgangland," you can figure out the logic of the book well enough to find it pretty quickly. But you need to make allowances that quotes can both be by and be about different people and that sometimes the topic is more important that the speaker.
While walking down memory lane in "The Quotable Slayer" you will find a couple of mistooks that need to be corrupted and it is clear Ostow and Brezenoff are working, at least in part, from original scripts because there are variations and also lines that were cut from what aired. So "The Quotable Slayer" is not a must-have for your "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" library but it is certainly enjoyable on its own terms. Finally, let me take this opportunity to say that the time on "BtVS" when everybody stops and stares at Buffy because she makes a William S. Burroughs reference really should have happened way back in "Enemies" when Buffy said of Faith, "The Girl makes Godot look punctual," because I find it hard to believe that Buffy reads Existential drama (Glad to get that one off of my chest).

Summary: A nice Buffy relic
Review: Compiling a solid collection of memorable quotes from all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Quotable Slayer is a nice little Buffy relic that long time fans will appreciate. Even though some of the quotes are either condensed or different from what was said on the show (such as Angel's Passion voice over, undoubtadly one of the best quotes from the series) and some of the episode titles are wrong from where the quote was taken from (the talk between Xander and Andrew regarding Anya's fate in the final episode "Chosen"; here it is listed as being from "End of Days"), that aside this is still worth owning for any and every Buffy fan; and you all know who you are.

Summary: Hope they do one for Angel too.
Review: Fun little book that compiles many of the most memorable quotes for all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The book covers a wide range of quotes from the hilarious to the touching. I really enjoyed this book but I do have a few complaints. I noticed an error, they have the Xander/Andrew talking about Anya's death quote labeled as coming from "End of Days" instead of "Chosen." I think there may have been a few more mistakes but I'd have to check on those. Also, The book didn't have my favorite quote which is; "For God's sake, man, she's eighteen. And you have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone. Just have at it, would you, and stop fluttering about." ~ Giles to Wesley (The Prom) Still, If you are a die hard Buffy fan I highly recommend this book. It's good for quick Buffy fixes on the go.

Review: I bought this Book for my Partner and I wasnt sure of Buying Books Online and I have to tell you the SHipping WAS FAST!!! and What a great book, there were a few mistakes in where the quotes came from but, if you LOVE buffy as my partner & I do then this is GREAT!!!! A MUST HAVE FOR BUFFY FANS!

Summary: The Quotable Slayer
Review: I thought this was a good compiling of the Scoobies' puns and quotes. There were a few things that I have to critisize about it though. All the quotes from "The Prom" were said to be said in "Choices" and also Angel's speech from "Passion" is wrong. Everything else seems to be accurate.

Summary: Good and not so good.
Review: I was so excited when I got this book. Especially when I saw that it contained some of my favorite quotes from the show. Then I read a little closer. There are quite a few quotes that are either attributed to the wrong person or episode and there are no quotes from Glory, The Master, The Mayor and a few other baddies even though there is a big bad section. There are also no quotes from important eps like "The Gift" and there are precious few quotes from "Once More, With Feeling" arguably one of the best episodes of all time. I would have to agree with another reviewer that the Watcher's Guides are much better with the quotes, and may I relate that the final watcher's guide should be out sometime this summer. Considering the price of the book though,I guess you get what you pay for but still use discretion. I would recommend the Watcher's Guide heavily as better solution for your Buffy fix, even if it is more expensive.

Review: If you like me really like the adult (and some times not so adult) humour and witty lines in Buffy, then this is a must.
I've wanted a book of quotes from the series a while now. Here it is and it will keep you busy reading a long time, but it will also make you smile for even longer! :-)

Review: Its every fans dream. 200+ pages of the hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking dialogue of one of the best shows television has ever given us. With sections including: The Quotable Slayer, The Quotable Watcher, The Quotable Scoobies, The Quotable Other People, and Buffy on..., and 8 pages of Color Photos, you really couldnt expect more, unless of course it was a script book. Of course it wont have all of your favorites, because that is impossible with all of the great quips on the show, but Ostow and Brazenoff do a great job of compiling this essential quote book. I love the cover which includes Buffy's gravestone "She Saved the World A Lot". I would definitely recommend this book. Hopefully we get an Angel Supplement soon.
