Summary: And the story continues...
Review: I got hooked on Christine Feeham last fall and have been fascinated by her "Dark" series every since. If you haven't read anything by Ms. Feeham, each story follows the Carpathians, a race of people who are of the earth. For lack of a better way to describe them, I guess you could say they are prevampires. Each male Carpathian must find his true-life mate to continue his existence. If he can't find her there is nothing left except to end his life by facing the sun or giving into the urge to become a vampire.

In Dark Legend, Ms. Feeham gives us the story of Gabriel. Throughout her previous books, she has told the story of twins, Gabriel and Lucian. One has turned and the other has dedicated his life to tracking down his twin to keep him from destroying mankind. No one knows what has happened to the brothers. Now centuries later, we find out. Apparently in a fierce battle, Gabriel was able to trap is brother into a deep sleep in a cemetery. Things could have gone on like this for many more centuries but their resting-place was disturbed by heavy duty machinery. Now both have awakened with a terrible thirst for blood. Gabriel must track down his twin before he can do any damage.

Francesca Del Ponce was Gabriel's life mate. Instead of claiming her, he left her. Francesca leaves the Carpathians homeland has made a new life for herself afraid if she stays she will torment the others looking for their mates. She knows she must hide her existence since an unattached female has great value in her society. On her own, she has become a great healer. But after centuries of being alone, she has decided to end her existence. Now Gabriel must track his brother and convince Francesca that he is the one for her.

It is really hard to describe with any accuracy a book by Christine Feeham and do it any justice. There are so many little details that makes the "Dark" series fascinating and not enough space to fully flesh out the details and plots. If you like your romances with dark brooding heroes, strong women who can tame them, hot sex, violent fight scenes, and the unknown then you have to try a book by Ms. Feeham. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: This vein is mined out
Review: In many ways, the same old story. If you've read the earlier "Dark" volumes, you pretty much know what to expect. Francesca, the heroine, won't fall immediately into line as Gabriel's lifemate, but does so after a brief resistance. The dialogue is adolescent, and the characters, though very old (and Gabriel is supposed to have been asleep for two hundred years) use words and phrases like "honey" and "You think?" The story is set in Paris, though there's absolutely nothing to suggest it's not in Peoria. Even the secondary characters have names like Brice and Thompson, hardly suggestive of French. The sexual imagery is the same, as are the descriptions. And I'm awfully tired of his "large" everything and her "small" everything (teeth, hips, waist, hands). Are there no other images of masculinity and femininity available to us than these? There's talk of Francesca's "female power" but it's almost never seen.

There's no point in reading any more of these. The originality was played out quite a while ago.

Summary: A Little Disappointing
Review: Yes, being addicted to the "Dark" series means waiting with baited breath for the next book and maybe getting my hopes up too high. The book is still a good read but has a blatently different "feel" to it than the other books. Maybe when the next book comes out it will gel the story together.

Summary: Back on Track
Review: This is a wonderful example of the talent Ms. Feehan has for writing in the Vampire genre. She has included more suspense and intrigue along with a more believable cast of characters. It was a joy to read and left me waiting to hear more about Lucian. Ms. Feehan displays what I consider the most important element in writing, she keeps you interested and involves you in the characters lives to the extent that you cannot wait for the next novel to come out and tell about old friends as well as new acquaintences.

Summary: Dark Fire's Good, but More of The Same with this One
Review: I saw that Dark Fire & Dark Legend have gotten better reviews than the other Feehan "Dark" series, so I purchased Dark Legend to give the series another chance.
I recently read Dark Fire and that is my second favorite book in the series after Dark Prince. However, Dark Legend reminds me of all the things I dislike about this series. If I hadn't have read Dark Fire, my disgust would be total. The plotline for Dark Legend returns to the same type of Stephanie Laurens-like cookie cutter plotline and conflict as the other "Dark" books.
This time around, I was struck by the hypocrisy of exalting the Carpathian race. Carpathians suck humans' blood against their will and an extremely high percentage of the males become murderous vampires. The Carpathian hunter cult started to look appealing.
I saw the movie Kate & Leopold over Christmas and the secretary in it was reading "Dark Challenge". I recognized it and laughed and then I thought, "Why that book? Why didn't they product place a more creative romance like a Jennifer Crusie or Laurell K. Hamilton?" I see how the romance genre comes by its sometimes deserved reputation.

Summary: Amazing book!!
Review: I have read all of Christine Feehan's dark series books but I have got to say that this one was my absolute favorite. I loved Gabriel and his brother Lucian. Both had heart and I really felt what each was feeling which to me is a great book. Everything just seemed to flow and keep you guessing, and this one is a one day read for sure! I can't wait for Lucian's story next. I must say that Christine's books get better and better.

Summary: Stunning. Wonderful. A definite keeper
Review: This book has it all. A tantalizing hero, an intelligent heroine, lots of witty dialogue, and a plot filled with heart-pounding action. In other words, it's a Christine Feehan book. While the focus of the story is the legendary vampire hunter, Gabriel, and his healer wife, Francesca, there are so many facets to this wonderful tale. I loved the interaction between Gabriel and his brother, Lucian, as they were pitted against each other in the battle between good and evil. It was touching to watch the mighty Gabriel humbled by not only Francesca's love but the love of his young ward, Skyler. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.

Summary: Great Concept
Review: This is the first of the "Dark" series I've read and found this book to be interesting and entertaining. I love the concept Ms. Feehan has developed here. The relationship between Francesca and Gabriel is heroic. I intend to read the others in the series. Glad I found this one!

Summary: This book was 4 almost 5 stars....
Review: Please don't get me wrong I LOVE CHRISTINES work... this book followed much of what we love her for... a book that takes off from page one... what a fantastic idea to weave a tale of an ancient who is a woman and a healer, Francesca, who has cloaked her presence from the other carpathians only to be found inadvertantly by her lifemate, Gabriel one of the oldest carpathians yet, when she is at the end of her rope...
Then to add more interest we have Skyler the young teenager who is in desperate need of saving from her abusive father...and is brought to Francesca's attention...here we find that the love of lifemates is not limited to each other but rather it encompasses those they embrace as family, like Skyler.
her attention to the details of her characters also gave huge appeal to this book... but as the plot was developed it started to get a little bit stuck in a loop...meaning the characters were repeating their words and actions over for a few chapters before the plot picked back up again...it is here that I hesitated for a full 5 stars...
But I have to say, this book did not disappoint in anyway.. I think this book is a prelude to some very interesting books to come thanks to the other characters we are introduced to... AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! I wish she wasn't limited by her publisher for when she could release them!!!!!!Thanks for the great books Christine...this ones going up on the keepsake shelf along with your others!!

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This book was great I really loved it. I just thought the ending was rushed. It was emotional the way Lucian and Gabriel treated each other and the love they had for each other. Francesca was a good heroine and very conpassionate towards humans. Also recommended the whole Dark series.
