Summary: Outstanding! A Captivating Tale!
Review: "Dark Legend" by Christine Feehan is the seventh instalment in the wonderfully original and erotic "Dark" series and it may just be the best one yet! With rich characters and a well-written and intriguing storyline, "Dark Legend" is a book you don't want to miss.

Gabriel, one of the legendary twins revered and feared by all Carpathians, awakens after two hundred years in the ground with a violent need for blood. As he wanders the streets of Paris he fears for all those around him, with the darkness inside him threatening to take over and turn him into the thing he has abhorred and hunted for his entire two thousand year existence, a vampire.

But when he runs into Francesca Del Ponce, a gifted healer who radiates goodness and light, her calming abilities give him the strength to fight his terrible hunger. Thinking that Gabriel is a homeless man, Francesca is determined to help him, but when she finds out what he really is, she selflessly offers him her blood. Once restored to his full strength, Gabriel realizes that he is seeing in colours and feeling emotions for the first time in nearly two thousand years. Which means that Francesca is his lifemate!

Overwhelmed by his discovery, Gabriel gets another shock when he finds out that Francesca is indeed a Carpathian, and an ancient one at that, who has managed to conceal her presence from her entire race for almost a thousand years. To Gabriel, it seems obvious that he and Francesca will now spend their lives together, but Francesca has other plans. After several lifetimes of independence, Francesca doesn't want an overbearing Carpathian male in her life. In fact, before meeting Gabriel, Francesca had already decided that these next few years on earth would be her last.

Obviously, this is utterly unacceptable to Gabriel, and he is determined to change Francesca's mind. And as time passes, Francesca begins to realize what an intense emotional and physical bond she and Gabriel share. Gabriel greatly admires Francesca's dedication to helping others in need, and when an abused and battered 14-year-old girl named Skyler arrives at the hospital, Francesca is determined to help her. Despite the childish objections by Skyler's doctor, Brice, who is in love with Francesca and doesn't want to share her with anyone, Francesca and Gabriel begin the process of adopting her.

But Gabriel is wracked with guilt, for he has now brought Francesca and Skyler to the attention of the undead and Gabriel's once beloved twin Lucian, the most powerful and ancient vampire in existence. Gabriel is determined to protect his lifemate and Skyler from all danger, which means he must continue to hunt and destroy the undead, putting himself in great peril.

Most of all, Gabriel knows he must destroy his twin, though he knows their fight will not be an easy one and that Lucian will probably take Gabriel to the grave with him. Feehan builds the suspense effectively, keeping readers riveted as she leads up to the final confrontation between Gabriel and Lucian, and a shocking discovery!

"Dark Legend" is, in a word, magnificent! It is filled with heart pounding passion and suspense, as well as a truly lovely romance. Gabriel and Francesca are a perfectly matched pair, and it is a highly rewarding experience watching them fall in love. So don't hesitate, "Dark Legend" has it all, so buy it today!

Summary: Dark Guardian
Review: I don't think Christine Feehan can write a bad story. While this was not as good as some of her others I still enjoyed it. Although I thought that there were too many badies in this story (as if jaxon didn't have enough to deal with with a human psychopath stalking her)Christeen still manages to ensnare me with the by-play between Jaxson & Lucien. I mean gosh, wouldn't we all like our men to be that considerate of our needs & happiness. Oh well back to the real world. If you like her style of writing & like the dark series I'm sure you will enjoy this story.

Summary: Not one of her best works ...
Review: I would never thought I would say this, but I will not be re-reading this one. This book, unlike her previous, was quite boring. I could actually put this one down. Gabriel was very sensitive to Francesca's need to be independent, which is fine, but they were boring! Not only boring, but inconsistent based on Ms. Feehan's previous books, male carpathians see color when they find their mate. According to Ms. Feehan, Francesca and Gabriel had seen each other before Gabriel put him and his twin to the ground. Then all of sudden, he shows up and wants to finish what he started? Doesn't follow the rules she has said in every other one of her books.

And even as the story unweaves, you get that Lucian (Gabriel's twin) is baiting Gabriel, however, when you get to the end and the conclusion is there, you wonder how Gabriel, this "hunter", would allow his twin to do what he did and not kill him?

Summary: My First Encounter with the Carpathians
Review: I know there are several novels before this one, but alas, the 'bodice-ripper-clench' covers totally turned me off. This is the first one I've read, and it was pretty enjoyable.

Except...it seemed to me that Francesca's first experience with Gabriel was forced. I enjoy power plays between men and women, but this appeared to me a throwback to the old 'rape me and I'll love you forever' scenarios so prevalent in the early 80's.

Francesca was a character I liked, though I wish she'd a bit more spirit where Gabriel was concerned.

Gabriel wasn't too far from the typical romantic hero trope, but he was likeable just the same. His concern for his twin Lucian was believable.

Basically, the Carpathian males are just the way romance readers for the most part like their men--strong, silent and protective.

Summary: Dark Legend
Review: I have never cared for romance books, but I am hooked on the Dark Series. You can't put the book down and after your through reading the story, you'll want to read it all over again. Keep those stories coming Ms. Feehan!

Summary: I'd rather drink Turpentine and pee on a brushfire.
Review: This book was excrutiatingly bad. bad writing, terrible dialogue, no setting at all. It was supposed to take place in France, though you'd think they were in Ohio for all the description given...none. The "hero" was so one dimensional it was painful. The heroine could have been interesting if she wasn't such a wimp. The teenage girl is an almost interesting addition to the non-existant plot, but even her storyline was made childish by the amount of unrealistic coddling and her wimpiness. A girl who has been through that much is NOT that wimpy, or she wouldn't still be alive. Save your money and read Amanda Ashley instead if you like the vampire-damsel in distress genre.

Summary: She did it again!
Review: I have read all of the "Dark" series and in fact everthing that Ms. Feehan has written. I think that "Dark Legend" is the best of the "Dark" series so far. Gabriel and Francesca's relationship was I think believeable because she had been so independent prior to meeting Gabriel so it makes sense that she try to remain as independent as possible. The feeling that Gabriel had for his brother Lucien just made him more "human." The only part of the story that strained a bit was Francesca's refusal to see Brice for the kind of person he really was - but we've all been there before. Up till now, Gregori and Savannah's story was my favorite but this one is now tops.

Summary: The Best One Yet!
Review: In this book we finally get to meet a Carpathian that is comfortable with who and what he is and Jax, a woman as strong and as protective as he is.

Lucian is unappologetic for what he is and what he needs to do and Jax is a pragmatist. Makes for a wonderful read. There were several amusing moments that had my husband and I both in stitches.

A great addition to the collection

Summary: The Dark series
Review: I just finished reading this book and although it is a good book and I liked it, it was not like the others in the dark series. I confess I liked the others in the series better I was not that happy with the heroine of this book. I was looking for a little more to the story. Maybe her next book will be better.

Summary: Some Bad with a Little Good
Review: I have enjoyed the Dark Series and was looking forward to this book being that it was "set in Paris." Well imagine my dismay when there was little if any description of my favorite city and no one spoke French, except where Ms. Feehan notes that they are "speaking French." This story could have been happening in Allentown, PA; Billings, MT or Washington, DC for that matter. I did enjoy that both of the lead characters were Carpathian...I was getting so tired of the female hysteria at becoming a Carpathian in past books. This was a more mature relationship.
