Rating: Summary: Another winner from an up and coming master!! Review:
Everyone who has read Mr. Vinson's works before, have come to expect a certain style, and flavor in his writing. It is a style redolent with suspense, thrills, and a pleasant revulsion. Bloodlines does not disappoint you.
Like his previous thriller Skeletal Remains, this is a series of short stories tied together with a central theme. He is proving to be the master of such a technique. As a group of medical students attend a seminar on the criminally insane, they are appalled and overwhelmed with the dept of degradation, savagery, and horror that drive people suffering from utter madness. But wait.... as the speakers repeatedly disgust with their tales, the students seem to be disappearing, one by one... what's going on?
The real pleasure of this book is far more than the exciting tales, but rather the diversity of them. From the Civil War (Served with a Little Gray) to a post-apocalyptic world (Loner) the thing that gets you about these stories is that they are so darn interesting!
Bloodlines: Legacies of Madness is a must read for anyone who loves the horror/suspense genre. It is a must addition for those who are wise enough to collect all of Mr. Vinson's works. It is a collection to treasure.
Rating: Summary: get this one... Review: I have this one in print and all that I have to left to read is the final short story itself. Terry knows how to scare people and Served with a Little Grey is one of those chapters in the book I was going, "damn.....we're even." I have managed to leave a few scares on him with a story titled "House of Spiders," and this is him returning the favor. Terry did a hell of a job with this one and I raise a beer to this. The book over all packs a punch so it is hard for me to just pick one story out of this that really scares you because all of them involved with this project have their nasty little personalities. You want a traditional horrror novel, Terry will deliver.
