Summary: a bit of a disapointment....
Review: Pike has to be my favorite author but his latest book is just not up to scratch. It's still an interesting read, and might leave you wondering, but the end just seems to wrap up to quickly and is some what of an anticlimax... Don't take my word for it. Read it for yourself, but you might want to wait till it comes to your library.

Summary: I really enjoyed reading this book.
Review: Pike is among the few authors out there that can make me feel as if I'm amidst all that's going on. I have not read all of his books, (nowhere near!:) but the ones that I have read are great. I especially liked this one and for what reason exactly, I'm not sure. I read this one straight through with no breaks. As for the reviewer also from San Diego, I happen to be a VERY literate person, especially for a 14-year old girl. I read and comprehend at a college plus level easily and tests have confirmed that. One is entitled to their opinion of THE BOOK but it is not necessary to bash the readers of that book or even that author for that matter. I am sorry but I feel like I've been attacked and need to defend myself. It's a weird thing about me. :) Anyway, I found the storyline very intriguing so it wasn't hard to read it right thru. The ending, however, was a bit confusing and I had to reread that one part. All in all it's a good read.

Summary: nice
Review: pike is one of my favorite authors and i guess i am a bit biased, i can't dislike any of his books because they were all written by him and like i said he's a favorite of mine. this was a good book, good twists in plot...and yes it reminded me very much of the movie Matrix, but well it's pike. i guess i just accept everything he writes. i just wish he'd write a tad bit faster.

Summary: A great read -- but pay attention
Review: Pike often mixes the themes of sci-fi and horror. 'Magic Fire' is not what you would expect by reading the back cover. The story progresses rapdily a few chapters into the book and takes on a very strong sci-fi twist. It does, at times, feel like the caracter development has suffered because of this. But at the same time, the elements of horror and suspense that Pike is famous for are still there and as effective as ever. 'Magic Fire' isn't one of his best books, but still a great read nonetheless. The ending will really get you thinking!

Summary: A lot of twists in this story, interesting idea
Review: The main problem with this story was that it didn't seem to know what it wanted to be about. But if you like surprises and twists and turns, this is the book for you. Think of it as Wild Things in print. At first I thought it would be more like one of Christopher Pike's other novels, The Wicked Heart. On the back, they play up the whole idea of Mark being a pyromaniac, but that is only a small portion of what this book is about. .
This does not stop this book from being entertaining though, although it dragged in parts. The ending is totally unexpected, you are barely given a clue, but that does not stop it from being a good ending, and it does make sense. This book, like the grave has strong science fiction overtones. The characters are maybe not as interesting as Shari, Julia or Roxanne and Pepper, but they are still far above most young adult characters. I would give it maybe three and a half stars, but I can't bring myself to give it just three.

Summary: *flicks lighter*
Review: This book ... nothing like his other works at all! Totally blew my mind apart *grins* I totally loved the beginning ... wow ... I really felt like I was surrounded by fire *shivers* but as the story progressed ... everything just totally changed ... but all is explained at the endin' ... an unexpected ending that is all I got to say ... its a MUST read!!

Plus, why the HECK did the book take its time to hit ze bookstores?! If anyone has any idea ... I would love to know :) :)

Summary: Cool book!!
Review: This book is cool! It was strange, but I started to get into it & follow the plot... It was cool! A book written about pyrokenesis. Anyone who is a Christopher Pike book reader must READ this book!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Patience pays off!
Review: This book is exellent! At first, when I got this book, I was like- "Oh no, what story could there possibley be to this?" But I soon found out that the pyro part was only a small part of the story. It's a great twisted story containing love and betrayal and it's a sci-fi! I love how christopher pike plays on the pyschic alternation from the use of drugs..... Anyhow, just to warn you, the story starts out slow, and right around the middle you feel like throwing the book down, but when you finally reach the ending you'll be glad you finished it! The ending is well worth it!

Summary: Dissapointing, after such a long wait
Review: This book took forever to come out! And after it finally did I wish I had not wasted my money. It was boring, and confusing at times. It could have been good, IF it was about pyromania and not aliens.

Summary: not bad...
Review: This was a really interesting book, and I'll have to admit, better than I expected. Despite a typical, mediocre build-up, the ending was a surprise. i would actually just give this book 3.5 stars, but since amazon doesn't let us do half ratings, i had to round up. and i'll give the book the benefit of being aimed for pre-teens & such. it's not so great now that i'm 21 and loving books like The Lovely Bones (soooo amazingly good) but i know if i had read this book back when i was thirteen, i would have thought it was great. If you're a fan of Christopher Pike, you'll definitely like this one.
