Summary: HIGHLY ORIGINAL
Review: I am 21 years of age and have been reading Pike's books since i was 13, not once have I been dissappointed by his work, and Magic Fire proves to me that he still possess the skill to write highly original and thought provoking books. Let's hope there will be many more Pike books in the years to come.

Summary: not bad...
Review: I don't think it's a bad book, but compared to the rest of Pike's novels I wouldn't rate it too high on the list. The plot was very original, but at parts confusing. It seemed like everything just happened to sudden and although it's good to have unpredictable plots, a lot of the book appeared more random to me than unpredictable. Not bad though, just not one of the Pike's books that I would read again.

Summary: I found Magic Fire a bit of a let down
Review: I had been waiting for Magic Fire for ages but when i came out i was very disapointed. It started off well but it started to get very confusing and i thought the end was abrupt but it did have some weird but good twists in and it had a very original storyline!

Summary: Hmm...Matrix anyone...?
Review: I have a suggestion...you choose the one that best applies to you. Number 1, if you have seen the movie called the Matrix, DON'T read this book. And Number 2, if you have read this book, DON'T waste your time watching The Matrix. I cannot believe this...the basic concept of this book spawned from the movie The Matrix. I'm not anywhere near finishing (halfway), and I just don't think I'll pick the book back up. It's turning out to be good, but c'mon......Pike, you could do better.

Summary: Nicely done
Review: I have been reading Mr. Pike's books since Weekend came out in 1986 (?). I am now in my 20s, and still look forward to his releases. I enjoyed this book immensely. I liked the plot twists and challenging nature of this work. It was nice to be asked to think by a YA book. I found myself imagining where it would go next, wondering what was real. In some ways, I found it reminiscent of the recent movies the Matrix and eXistenZ, although he must have written it before these were released. I didn't find the violence or sexuality at all excessive, or the book itself to be too confusing. But then, I am probably older than the average reader. If you are looking for a book that raises the standard of young adult fiction, this is for you.

Summary: Pike is a master
Review: I hope that Mr. Pike gives us more adult fiction soon. I am eagerly awaiting the Cold One's sequel and for a while was afraid he had dropped off the face of the earth. Luckily I found his most recent release The Grave and am reassured that he is still amoung the living --or at least someone using his name is alive. I love reading the spirituality aspects and must totally disagree with the person who gave this book 0 stars. If Mr Pike is reading this please write more deep and less surface horror books. You are definately going in the right direction not the wrong one. Another reader has mentioned this but I, too have been a Pike fan since I was about 12 or 13 and can say that I think I have read every book in this genre that he has written (this of course excludes the one's for real little kids--although I did read one of those and it was pretty good although a bit too young for my 19 years.) Keep up the good work, Mr. Pike.

Summary: Good but not the Best
Review: I liked this book but it was not as good as the others he has written. The only thing I didn't really like about it was that I thought the plot got too confusing towards the middle, but maybe it was just too great for my simple mind to comprehend.

Summary: amazing
Review: I read this book quite some time ago and my mind was baffled! I normally wouldn't read books written for young adults but Pike is always an exception for me. This book just blew me away. I envy the abilty he has to capture so much in so little space. Reda it...it's a real trip. :)
