Summary: VERRY, VERRY CONFUSING!!!
Review: All and all I thaught it was a great book but it was pretty confusing! The ending was a big surprise! I would never hav guessed it. But I would recomend it to somone who loves shocking endings!

Summary: Great Book
Review: All my friends read Christopher Pike and I'm like what is so good about all his books? Well, did I just answer my own question. I picked up this book yesterday and I'm already done. it was great! It got a little confusing at times but if you stayed with it, it all turned out in the end. I would reccommend this to anyone. I hope the more I read his books, the more I enjoy.

Summary: The Midnight Club;Pike's best!
Review: Almost all of Christopher Pike's books are good, but The Midnight Club is, I think, his definate best. The story is wonderful. It keeps you interested, makes you scared, and at the same time makes you sad. I highly recommend reading this book, especially if you're a Pike fan.

Summary: You are what you read?
Review: By reading the many glowing reviews here, you could easily conclude that Christopher Pike's readers are not a very literate group of people. Their misspelled, inarticulate, and incomplete sentences provide a rather depressing reader profile. Do these kinds of books contribute to illiteracy, or do illiterate people seek out this style of writing? I guess it's a "what came first, the chicken or the egg" thing, but I would recommend something better for young readers.

Summary: I wonder what it will be like..
Review: Chris Pike is a wonderful author, but he writes about sex all the time. I mean ALL THE TIME, even in books about space and aliens. Choose one book that hasn't got sex in it. I bet you won't find one. It is in no way necessary to discuss intercourse in every book. Maybe he's some kind of sex fiend or something. Anyway, I wonder if this book will have a different origin. He always has three endings. A magical origin, like astral projections, witches, going back in time, and mind-shifts. Or a cheesy sex origin, like "I killed her 'cause she can't have you," "I will always love you." Something like that. Or my favorite origin, a mystery origin, the good ol' killing, robbing, darkness. This book will be a surprise.

Summary: A very mysterious book
Review: First comment... The cover and back of the book are so misleading. Cut that out, whoever is in charge of that stuff! :) I know you can't just say what the book is about on the back cover, but you don't have to lie about it, and this summary isn't as bad as some. Even so, I think the front cover looks cool, despite it having nothing to do with the story.

Now a little reminiscing. I remember hearing about this book not long before we founded The Midnight Club four years ago, and then we didn't know if it was called Magic Fire or Fire Magic. Given that at least the title is pretty old, that generates a lot of questions. When was this book was actually written? How long has Pike had at least the outline completed? Why did it take so long to write? Was MAZE conceived of later on, throwing a whole new twist on the bulk of the plot and frustrating many of you? If you really think about it, this book in a way predates even the last 3 Last Vampires. Weird, huh? It makes me really curious, and I think I might ask Pike (and if he actually replies, I'll be sure you to let you know).

I really liked this book. Nothing really disappointed me, except that it was too short (although actually relatively long for his YA books). Pike took a lot of liberties in constructing the plot, but as other Pike readers I have talked with have already mentioned, the book makes you question your own reality. As I was reading it, I was reminded A LOT of the movie Matrix, and I had to remind myself that Magic Fire was written before that movie. Still, it kind of blows the prospect of Magic Fire being made into a movie.

I think if I had read The Grave after I read Magic Fire, I would have been more disappointed with The Grave. But since Magic Fire is now the most recent Pike book I have read, I'm waiting in anticipation of his next book, which I have heard nothing about. Wondering when we'll get those other books Pike has been hinting at... By the way, if you made it this far in reading, Pike DOES NOT intend to write The Cold One II: Seedling. Sorry. :(

Summary: very well written
Review: From the first couple of chapters I was drawn in. But about four chapters away from the end I sort of got to the point where I was asking, "Okay, where's the excellent climax?" But I thought this book was very well written and I liked it a lot. Sometimes I wonder how he comes up with this kind of stuff. This definantly goes under the "weird but cool" catagory of Pike's books. To end this review, I can hardly wait for THE GRAVE to come out in September.

Summary: The perfect book if you remove the ending
Review: Great story, heading in the right direction, but the ending changed too much. I'm glad to see I'm not the only 21 yr. old Pike fan. Have been a fan since Chain Letter. If you enjoy massive surprises, this book is for you.

Summary: Woohoo.
Review: Hello hello. Just remember that Pike is and will be for quite a while I beleive the best Young Adult writer around. I grew up on his books, and sometimes dream of living in the places they describe. Blablabla. I got carried away. Anyway, if you read this Christopher Pike, don't get discouraged, cause your books are awesome. But I do think your 'other' books could be distracting you too much. Or maybe you just want a break. But you are great, don't let it end. Ever since i read scavenger hunt when I was about 10 I have read every book since and went back to read the ones I missed. And too much sex? I don't think so. It's part of your books, part of your style, part of depicting the world. I like it. Realistic. Hmm, I just realized i was saying your still instead of his. Oh well. Pike's books are like a drug, or better yet like utopia.

Summary: Still His "Number One Fan"...
Review: How long have I been waiting for this book to come out? How long do I usually have to wait?? It's taking him longer and longer to come out with new stuff, and I admit that some have been better than others recently, but hey, he's Christopher Pike. THE BEST young adult (and a pretty darn good adult) fiction writer there is. I know he has quite a few great ones left in him. So I'll sit and wait some more. Also, I really wish he'd stop writing those intermediate "not Goosebumps" books. His writing is so suited for better than a knockoff in an already oversaturated market. Not to sound dumb, but maybe that's why it takes him so long to come out with the stuff we always have loved and will love. Yes, we young adults still DO read (at least most of us). Hopefully this one will turn out to be one of his best yet.
