Summary: Dark cross genre thriller... not bubble gum
Review: If I had to compare writers here, I would say P-17 would be much closer to Dean Koontz than Dan Brown.
I spooled through the reveiws here to see what readers are saying. This novel has a similar religious thriller type plot line.
But why would anyone expect one writer to write just like another? Probably, because they don't actually know anything about writing? Would they expect every film to be the same, every director to fall into in a cookie cutter like formula.
Enough said ... about this brainless ...we'll he's not as good as so and so or I had to use a dictionary as I read it. God what a shame, perhaps you should go back to watching wrestling and monster truck shows, then. Or stick to pulp romance.

The story is the thing, do you like the world the writer takes you to or not.
I like this world of mystery and noir cross genre.
If you're hung up on your own ego, I suggest you try writing and not reviewng.
Whether or not Anne Rice for example posted by proxy that reply to the dolt reviewers at amason who whined, like they do with Koontz and Harris to name few ... oh, they changed their style;I'll never buy their books again--the thing is: If you have nothing better to do with your time than slice and dice writers at amazon, it's a pity.
The cold truth is no one, especially the authors, are paying attention to the ranting.
Now if you have some constructive crticism, read up on writing and address real issues like pacing, characterization etc. Otherwise go back to the barcolounger and stuff your face with junk food and order jewerly from the Home Shopping Network.
Come to thnk of it, why am I wasting my time here?

Summary: Holy terrrors!
Review: If you enjoy a book that holds nothings back and isn't afraid to go for the kill ... then you'll enjoy this. No cheap thrills just plain scary as hell.
The characters were credible and I liked having a strong female lead who wasn't all about looks and thin as tissue paper. Josey had a past and some baggage.
She wasn't whole, yes; but not because she needed a man. She just had been burnt out by life. It was interesting to see a female protagonist with some depth of character.
I also thought the author expressed the "Jewish" mind set well.
At least from the standpoint of this Jewish female.

Summary: Entertaining and informative
Review: It's not often I read a novel that reaches me on two levels ... I found this one to be both a solid entertainment that was loaded with interesting esoteric facts.
Whether you believe them is another questions but it makes you wonder how much is fiction and how much is a hidden truth!

Summary: What's with the personal attacks on this book?
Review: John Vandermouth
It seems that the author has made some enemies out there!
While most of the reviews are helpful, others seem to be a cheap personal attack. I find it rather disturbing to see that people stoop so low.
I enjoyed the book and couldn't find any of the items that reviewer mentioned. I guess he or she just made them up.
The writing was very up to pro standards and while I did see a typo here and there ... well I've seen that in every book that I've ever read.
Good solid suspense yarn.

Dialogue was very good too.
Will pick up a sequel if he does one.

Summary: Good action thriller and horror
Review: Phil from Madison
Being a diehard horror fan I had fun with this. Ya, the bad guys were campy but I think there were intended to be just that.
Interesting twist on the psychic detective angle. You'll never get hypnotized after reading this. Liked the anti-hero,too.

Summary: James Bond meets the X-Files
Review: Protocol-17 should come with a warning to those who are faint of heart. Think you don't apply? Read on. The book starts out as an interesting and promising espionage / cop thriller, but quickly slips into a bizarre and over-the-top story of evil Vatican plots, satanic ritual, child molestation, mind control and demonic possession. If you read for too long at a stretch, you may be compelled to take a marathon shower or at least watch 18 consecutive episodes of The Brady Bunch - just to get the sick taste out of your mouth. Although Weber is a master of words, it seems as though he has used every adjective, metaphor, and simile know to mankind in writing this tale and it does become very tedious to read. I would like to have had a little less X-Files and a little more James Bond; however I will give him props for his originality in wrapping together a number of conspiracy theories I have been wondering about.

Summary: Solid Historical Backdrop and Gibbering Terror!
Review: Reviewer: A reader from Canada
Sephera Giron Leisure Books author.
Fans of Dan Brown's "DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" will love this tightly plotted potboiler.
Like Brown, Weber laces his novel with just enough real esoteric history on secret societies and the occult to add a rich backdrop to this fast-paced thriller. But unlike Brown--Weber's characters come alive and leap off the page. No cardboard here.
And the terror is nothing short of gibbering. His blend of euro-thriller, gritty cop-shop, and Gothic noir make this an entertaining yet highly enlightening suspense novel. Together a detective and beautiful Mossad agent--battle evil in the form of a secret cabal. A twelve-year-old boy, his aunt--Susie Q, and a reluctant Rabbi hold the key to good's battle against the powers of darkness.
The settings range from the Vatican to the dark back alleyways of Chicago. This cross-genre thrill ride will make you laugh out loud in places, cry in others, and make you run from your easy chair at the slightest sound to bolt the door, grab your rosary and shotgun, and huddle in the darkness. Pulse-pounding terror! 5 stars.

"Secret societies, an ancient book that renders people mad, deadly games of erotica and murder...all are woven together for a page turning journey into the ultimate evil."

"Weber leads his readers down a treacherous path of conspiracy and debauchery with a firm hand and engaging prose."

Summary: Well plotted thrill ride! 2003
Review: Reviewer: Angie Porter from N.Y.
This novel hooks you from the opening chapter and never lets go! The characters are well fleshed out and the suspension of disbelief takes hold of you by the end of the second chapter. I disagree wholeheartedly with one of the other reviewers. I found the plotting to be meticulous. In fact considering the shifting locales and complex subplots, it's a rather amazing and seamless weaving of the storyline. Perhaps some readers are not able to come to grips or maintain their attention span long enough for other than just the average potboiler.
Each chapter ended with a cliff hanger forcing this reader to continue on well into the wee hours of the morning.
The cross-genre feel: a subtle blending of Police Procedural, Euro-thriller, Sci-Fi, and Horror made this a very unique and refreshing take on the conspiracy genre.
Readers who enjoy a thinking man's novel--rich in prose but fast-paced are in for a treat!
If you enjoyed Angels and Demons, any Koontz thriller, or a Ludlum or Demille thriller, you'll love this novel!

Review: Spellbinding terror laced with fact ...., September 6, 2003
Reviewer: A reader from Kansas City MO
Karen Walsh a thriller fan from Kansas City MO

This book drew my in from the very first sentence. Noir prose combined with a fast-paced barnburner. As the plot thickens and intensifies, I found myself ...peeking...into the next chapter--afraid to see what happens next, but unable to resist the temptation to look. Seductive and frightening. I just couldn't wait to see if Sam and Josey made it. The ending was satisfying and rocketed on right up until the last page. There's a lot of factual detail involving the Vatican, Mossad agents, and secret societies. Intricate plot lines and cliff-hanger chapter endings will keep you hooked and then, just when you think you've got it all figured out--Weber throws another complication in our protagonist's path. Chills and thrills galore.

I found the locales, both in Chicago and Rome, to be rich and accurate, lending a lot to the credibility of the author's writing. The background on the Illuminati-like secret cabals and the "notebook" itself was fascinating. If you want to see for yourself, read the excerpt posted on the left here at amazon.com. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending this book.
