Rating: Summary: This is the exact same book as " Dark Protocols" ..... Review: "Protocol-17" by Douglas Weber is the exact same book as "Dark Protocols" by Richard Weber!!!!!!!I guess if you try to sell a really BAD, BORING, not even the author knows what he's trying to say kind book and it doesn't sell, just change the title, change the artwork, change the author's name and try again!!!!!!!Now THAT is a conspiracy! Possibly the worse book I have ever read, and I do read a lot, 15 books in the last 6 months, including "The Da Vinci Code". Whomever compared this author with Dan Brown, Koontz, King and Eco, must have read a different book or is a friend of the author or publisher. Also notice the double entries of the reviewers! Again, friends of the author perhaps?

Rating: Summary: A good concept ... Review: but in my opinion poorly written. It may just be a style of writing that I am not use to but I thought the author dragged out almost every scene with unnecessarily long descriptions. Don't get me wrong I don't mind when an author describes important places or people a little more than usually but Weber spent time describing everything! He even described how police lights went "aquamarine and then diamonds, aquamarine and then diamonds." (Chap 2.) That was a real quote from the book! Who doesn't know what police lights look like? Such descriptions are only useful in describing something to someone with no imagination and slowing down the story or just the filler of a poor writer. As a side note one of the other readers compared this novel to DaVinci Code. The concepts and story lines are similar in their religious tones, however the book reads nothing like any one of Mr. Brown's.

R. D. Weber takes the reader on a mind-boggling horror ride

investigations, occult and supernatural occurrences are blended
together in a compelling and frightening novel. Characters, human and supernatural, leap from the pages at times, via dialogue and description. Unforgettable villains and credible well-fleshed-out heroes add to this enjoyable thriller.
Readers of The DaVinci Code and cross genre King and Koontz novels will add Weber to their list of favorite suspense authors. His background as a former government agent lends realistic detail to his writing.

Rating: Summary: Fast-paced thriller Review: Good fleshed-out characters. Could be a series. The detailed background was interesting, but the flash-bang climax that brought the plot and characters together was the best part.
Rating: Summary: Waste of time Review: I just wasted $16 on what I thought would be an interesting tale, a la Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons. This book was presented in such a form that it seemed to be written by a high school sophomore and edited by a junior-higher. Spelling and grammatical errors abound in this debacle. I should have known when I didn't recognize the publisher's name that this book was a farce. But I hoped with the interesting tagline and exciting plotlines that it would hook me. Unfortunately I can only make it through 120 pages. That said, I will now relegate this garbage as my new drink coaster. Wow, a $16 coaster, that's sad. Please, if you have any literacy at all, DROP THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY and buy something from Caleb Carr or Peter Straub.
Rating: Summary: Sophomoric writing Review: I was unable to plow through this epic garbage. The supreme effort to "turn a phrase" in every line made me sick. The story line got lost for me in the flowery descriptions. I haven't seen such drivel since Freshman English Comp!"...lifted the scarlet apple gingerly with aged but supple fingers" "... the blade's reflected light glimmered and swathed Aliester's eyes" Please! Occasional obvious typos or uneducated use of homophonic words "vial deed" (sic)made me think that I could make better use of my time than trying to read this trash.
