Rating: Summary: What a nice surprise ! Review: This is a fascinating and intelligent story written with an elegant prose that is hard to beat. The characters, events and settings are all very convincing and well thought out. The main thing I enjoyed about this novel was it's superb ending, which I felt was so fresh and powerful, not the typical, happy and cliched ending that most readers demand. Kudos to Judith Hawkes for aiming for and hitting the bullseye with this great novel. I would highly recommend this book to all horror readers. Truly a satisfying and thought provoking novel.
Rating: Summary: Very good read, touches the soul! Review: This is a very well written book and it was a joy to read. My only regret was that it was not about 500 pages longer. The writing captivates and enthralls the reader from begining to end.
Rating: Summary: Reader From the Heartland Review: This is my favorite book, and I read a LOT of books. It's an awesome and scary novel that's magic and surprises won't let you put it down. It grips right down to the last page. The Lockley Arms Inn, full of mysteries and secrets stands at the center of Green Hollow, and twins Kip and Shelley Davies live right across the street from it. As youngsters, they are fascinated by the world of the Lockley Arms, and as teenagers they begin working there and are drawn in to the secrets of the Arms. They eventually stumble upon a witch's coven--The Green Hollow Coven. They are admitted into the coven, and their experiences will surprise you. This book is a must read. Let yourself be submerged in the elegance and magic of the Lockley Arms. Not just 5, but 100 stars!
Rating: Summary: Good, but a bit slow Review: This was all in all, a pretty good book. It really gets into witchcraft and shows it a gentler, friendlier side, but there were some very slow points. And some irritating points as well. Shelley turned out to be a dissappointment. She was so selfish and later turned out to be a weaker character, and this whole being in love with your brother thing was out of wack. I guess I am not disappointed in the book itself, but the characters and some of thier lack of personality. I am glad I read the book, but I recommend if anyone read it, they be prepared to spend a lot of time doing so.
Rating: Summary: A FABULOUS BOOK Review: This was the best book I've read in a long time. The characters are very well done and the plot moves right along. I can't wait to read the next one. Write faster, please.
