Rating: Summary: A Sexy Thriller With No Equal! Review: I guide a site on fetishism...and this is the best book of anerotic nature that I have ever read! MJ Rose managed to write a sexythriller without insulting the intelligence of her readers. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Posted by the author for a reader who wrote in: Review: LIP SERVICE, an erotic novel by M.J.Rose(a pseudonym), had an unusual beginning. After Ms.Rose wrote her book, she tried to get it published with no results. Being the kind of writer who doesn't give up, she decided to publish the novel herself and sell it on the Internet. She did so with a certain degree of success. Eventually--through word of mouth--the novel caught the attention of Simon & Schuster, and the rest is history. Such trivia makes for a more interesting read. Anyway, LIP SERVICE, is the story of Julia Sterling, a housewife who is at the crossroads of her life. While in college she suffered a nervous breakdown due to the stressful demands placed on her by her father, a successful psychiatrist. She then married a renowned psychiatrist, Paul Sterling, who had just lost his wife in a riding accident. From then on, Paul treated his new wife as if she were a patient, or even worse, like his personal property. Years later, Julia finally reaches the breaking point. Uphappy with her life and wanting to start a career as a journalist, she takes on a writing assignment to do a book on an Institute which deals in human sexuality. In order to do research on the subject, she agrees to take on a part-time job as a 'phone sex' operator. This leads her to discover certain things about her own sexuality and about the lack of sex in her sterile marriage. Julia has several encounters with strangers on the phone, and the dialogue is quite arousing. One stranger admits to having sex with his young daughter and causes Julia to go to police in an effort to find this man and stop him. This in turn leads the police to use Julia as a means of finding out if the Institute is actually a front for prostitution. Will Julia's marriage end due to her sexual activities, or will it survive? How will her husband handle the secrets she is hiding from him? What about Jack Griffin, an old flame from college who still loves her, will she end up having an affair with him? There are a number of twists and turns in this novel which lead to answers to the above questions. Some of the twists,or subplots, work and some don't. Ms. Rose writes extremely well, and I suspect her next novel will be even better. She has a good character in Julia Sterling, and the erotic content of the novel is definitely hot. My feeling is that she should have stayed directly with the main character and not have veered off into the other subplots. They take away from the story and its natural flow. Still,I recommend this novel and look forward to reading her next one.
Rating: Summary: Amateur Writer Review: After reading this book, it is no wonder that I am now learning that it was self-published! There is a great story line here but has not been developed enough. I felt that the author was trying to write a lascivious novel while not being pornographic. It was not only poorly written but the book was filled with grammatical errors throughout. I give it two stars only because of the plot.
Rating: Summary: STOP HER BEFORE SHE WRITES AGAIN Review: Not sexy, not a thriller, not readable. In short, no redeeming features and a thorough waste of paper. Possibly the worst aspect: the cover image and jacket blurb. Shameless promotion of a shallow and self-involved lifestyle - Martha Stewart with a BA in psychology. The "story" was weak, flawed and thin. Spare yourself - this book is almost as sexy as cancer of the colon. Come on folks - read some REAL fiction.
Rating: Summary: Great Character Development Review: This is a great book. The author brings the main charactersalive, while exposing the reader to the odd world of phone sex. I'ddescribe this novel as an erotic read, but also an in-depth portrayal of a woman who is unsatisfied with her life, which finds her dabbling in exciting and dangerous risk-taking. Call me gullible, but there was a plot twist included that I didn't see coming! Well done.
Rating: Summary: M. J. Rose does Grace Metalious one better! Review: Are you looking for a little hot bedtime reading? Then you've come to the right place if you are looking at M. J. Rose's 'Lip Service'. Good reading, hot action, but without the pornography.M. J. Rose goes into lots of minorly titillating details - maybe even too much at times, but don't let that discourage you. This particular trek through the written word is worth your trouble.
Rating: Summary: Loved it... want more of it! Review: This book caught my eye at the book store and I picked it up to glance at the back cover, took a seat at the store and began to read ... little did i know i was in the book a good 80 something pages and couldn't put it down. Bought the book went straight home and read it until i finished it. Great charaters and a love story a far between her and an old friend. Even though her husband obviously only married her in his name because of who her father was... great story into the shocking world of phone sex and how it works! A Must read!

Rating: Summary: Misleading hype, boring story Review: Okay, the sexy parts of this book were...sexy. Unfortunately, the hype leads you to believe that there will be a lot more of the moaning and sighing than there is. There's lots of kvetching though. Julia is a poor little pampered professional wife, with nothing more on her mind than her boredom with hubby, her hots for two different guys in her life, her phone sex research, and the mean old building that will soon block out her precious orchids' sunlight. The most annoying thing of all is that midway through this book, it switches gears into an attempt at a suspense thriller, when Julia starts getting super-creepy calls and the police won't take her seriously. Cuz, you know, BAD THINGS always happen to naughty girls who do things like talk dirty on the phone. This book wants to be new and naughty but it ends up being tired and trite.
Rating: Summary: Exquisite! Review: This book is an exquisite blend of genres--everything you could possibly want. Erotica, mystery, suspense and just a hint of romance. The heroine is a real woman too, someone you'll probably recognize in others you know. Can't go wrong with MJ Rose!
