Summary: My Favourite Books Ever
Review: I read these books when they first came out in the early nineties - I was in Jr High then. I still love them, and read them when I can (and yes, I am 21 :D ). I just love LJ.Smith, she writes like she knows me. :) And the Vampire Diaries series is my favourite.

Summary: Terrific read!
Review: I read this book when I was 13 and I enjoyed it immensely. I know of many other readers that have been frustrated at not being able to find this series, but now since it is being republished they will finally be able to read or finish reading the series of another great masterpiece by Miss Smith.

Summary: The Struggle (The Vampire Diaries Series Vol 2)
Review: I thought this book was wonderful! It's well written and the characters are very real and very gripping. The author, LJ Smith, is a wonderful writer. Every time I read one of her books I become completely lost in it. She creates a world darker than our own, but filled with heroes and romance and intrigue. The Vampire Diaries series is one of my favourites. It's impossible not to like these books!

Summary: Compelling!
Review: I was intrigued by this series by LJ Smith! I haven't read a series that captured my attention as much as this one did in a long time. I felt that I could relate to the Bonnie character the most. I was impressed with the way Elena's character matured in the third and fourth volumes. She sort of started out as this self-absorbed teen that only cared about ruling her high school. That all changed with the introduction of Stefan Salvatore, and some of the more adult issues she and her friends were faced with. For example, the shocking deaths of two classmates. (I won't say who, you have to find out for yourself!) Excellent work, Lisa Jane Smith! I only hope I can write as great as you one day!

Summary: I TOTALLY LUV VAMPIRE DIARIES...............................
Review: I wish that I could just get a copy of VAMPIRE DIARIES. I mean, I borrowed the books from a girl whose dad is my mom's dancing teacher (I know, who wants to know 'bout this). Too bad the books are either out of print or the publisher is out of stock. I wish they'd just print more copies.

Anyway, VAMPIRE DIARIES is about Elena Gilbert(one of the main characters), who meets a new, mysterious foreign student, Stefan Salvatore. But what nobody knows is that he is a vampire. Elena is the average high school beautiful, popular girl who gets every guy she wants, and this time she wants Stefan. Unfortunately, Stefan doesn't respond to her charms, 'cause Elena reminds him of Katherine, the vampire that made him 500 years ago in Florence, Italy (the current setting is in Fell's Church, Virginia). Elena and Kathering both look like (they could have been twins).

To make details shorter, Stefan finally gets hooked up with Elena when he discovers she's in danger by Tyler, a local bully. Then, Damon, Stefan's older, even more mysterious, vampire brother makes himself known to Elena (even Stefan doesn't know that Damon is in Fell's Church). Damon, like Stefan, became attracted to Elena (the brothers fought over Katherine too, 500 years ago, but in the end, Katherine died - she chose both of them, and when they both didn't want to share her, she went out into the sun and took off her talisman, a special kind of ring that lets vampires go out into the sun - even though the sun can still hurt their eyes), and wanted to make Elena his "queen of darkness." Elena had a hard time chosing, but at the end, she chose Stefan. In the 3rd book, Elena became a vampire (there's an OTHER POWER - who is determind to kill Elena, Stefan, and Damon). It's Katherine, who only pretended to die before. Elena killed Katherine, but died too, in the process. Stefan heart broke.

In book #4, Elena's back from the grave to help Stefan and Damon fight another evil - Klaus, one of the OLD ONES, the one who made ! Katherine a vampire. Stefan wins, and Elena (who's a spirit that time) has "to go." She goes, leaving Stefan, but first healing all his wounds from his fight with Klaus (she heals Damon and other human friends of hers that "knows"). Stefan is really sad, and then, Elena returns, somehow, as a human, and she and Stefan are reunited. What a happy ending!

VAMPIRE DIARIES are one of my FAVE (I have so many favorites) books. Plus, I think Damon's pretty cool. LJS is one of my best authors now. I'm gonna start reading books from the Night World series now. Qian L.

Summary: AAAAH! I HAVE TO FIND THE THIRD ONE!
Review: I've read all of L.J. Smith's series except for the last 2 in this one. I liked Elena's character (she wasn't some wimpy kid) and most of her reactions were easy to relate to and weren't stupid like some girls' characters can be. I also understand the way she's torn between Damon and Stefan. Damon reminds me a little bit of THE Gorgeous Shadow Man Julian (The Forbidden Game--another must-read) because of a lot of things (the way he acts and appears/disappears, is graceful, the way he thinks), but Stefan is so devoted and mysterious that I luv him too. The ending of this book was pretty surprising for me, and now I am pulling my hair out waiting to find out what happens in the 3rd and 4th books.

Summary: hasn't improved much since the first volume
Review: In the second book in the series, Elena and Stefan find themselves at the mercy of the powerful vampire Damon. Damon wants to destroy his brother and keep Elena for himself and there doesn't seem to be much they can do to stop him. Damon isn't the only danger though, Caroline, Elena's arch rival, wants to destroy Elena and she doesn't care if Stefan gets caught in the crossfire.

This series is still quite readable but it hasn't improved much since the first volume. Every time I find myself starting to like Elena she does something stupid or gets all weepy for no reason. Also, Elena and Stefan's supposed inability to fight back against anyone that is trying to hurt them is just frustrating and ridiculous. Another thing that keeps this series from being great is Damon, he's just not a very compelling villain. However, L. J. Smith's addictive writing makes this an entertaining, quick read and the series is still good despite it's flaws.

Summary: One of the Best in the Series
Review: In this book, Elena finds herself in a triangle between he vampire boyfriend, Stefan, and his vampire brother Damon. Elena knows that she should aviod Damon, but he keeps showing up at places where she is. Meanwhile, she and Stefan grow pretty close, and soon they are secretly engaged. Elena knows that she has so save him though because in the first book, her diary was stolen by her ex-best friend Caroline whos planning to read it at the founders Day Pagent. In her diary was proof that Stefan was at sight of one attack earlier in the school year. Now, I've told you more than enough, so go read the book.
