Summary: the best spin on the crow ever
Review: The crow is a great concept. Except with the exception of this book, it is always the smae eric draven ripoff killing some steroetypical bad guys and dieing again. This charecter was not only differnet, but so was the use of powers, the crow itself, and the use of poe. THe use of poe also makes sense, him bieng obssesed with the living dead and all. Even if you aren't a corw or poe fan, this book also happens to be a good read to boot. Mr. Bischoff my hat's off to you.

Summary: Waste of time and money
Review: This book was not at all enjoyable to me. I honestly hope that this author does not look upon "Baltimore Goths" the way he portrayed him in the book. They were corny, along with most of the other characters. He tries to put together "thugs" and "goths" throughout the book. Honestly, if I pick up a book about 'Gothiques' and Poe, I dont wish to be reading about drug trafficing and hits on the Baltimore gangs.
His development of local color is sad too, mindlessly throwing around locations and names and such.
Also, the authors lack of research really shows when he brings up Anton Lavey. He not only spells his name wrong, but brings up animal sacrifice, which is NOT an Anton Lavey/Satanic practice.
If you wish to read something good in the way of The Crow or horror, check out Poppy Z. Brite. She's not the absolute best, but she does make for some good reading, better than this ...

Summary: This book was quite possibly one of the best of this century
Review: This book was one of the best of this century because of thefact that David Bischoff is quite possibly one of the best authors ofthis century He is very in depth with each character and what they're thinking and you kind of get to know each charcter before they're dead and you are very supprised with each death because each one is so different and very strange, Bischoff creates his own dimension with his ideas of The Crow and takes all his ideas and mixes them to get perfection!!!

Summary: Edgar Allen Poe is spinning in his grave
Review: This is, quite possibly the worst book I have ever read. Bischoff spins a tale in which the villians aren't villianous and you actually hate the protagonist. William Blessing is an annoying immature writer of horror who is also (we are told) a professor of literature. He takes under his wing a psycotic grad student, who instead of writing a disertation is editing a book for his PhD. Now throw into the mix a group of non-threatening drug atticts who also happen to run a publishing company and have a partnership with a professional assasin who wants to be a writer. It is hard to decide what is worst about this novel. The one dimensional, juvenile characters or the blatant rip offs of Edgar Allen Poe and modern gothic culture. For me reading this book was an endurance test, seeing just how much bad writing I could withstand. In all honesty, I have read better stories in on-line fanzines. I was glad that this book was lent to me by a friend and that I did not have to spend $13 on this 277 page monstrosity. If this is the best that the people who own the rights to The Crow can produce, then maybe the whole franchise is better off dead. (Please pardon any misspellings)

Summary: This book is one of the best Crow stories since the original
Review: This story has a great, in depth plot. As you keep on reading the book, you discover more and more powers of The Crow you wouldn't know they had. If you like Poe, you'd really like this book because it has a lot to do with Edgar A. Poe. All in all, I am very pleased with this book.

Summary: FOR THE FIRST NEW CROW NOVEL, VERY POOR....
Review: Upon reading this book again(my first review back in 2000 and btw..thats my mother's ID..my ID is Deaderman)., I find myself with a dislike for the story now. I applaud the originality of linking the crow with Edgar Allen Poe. I would say that i dislike the story for the simple fact of the Batlimore Goths and the seemingly forced love of Amy and William Blessing. I would not recommend this book to a new crow fan wanting to get into these. Most fans would say that the bad guys in CoA were poorly written and just plain crappy. Well, these guys are far worse. Makes you want to get the story over with just to get away from these poorly executed characters. I would very much agree with all of these negative reviews and in fact join them. Now, onto reading the Lazarus Heart..

Summary: From one Crow lover to another (if you read this review)
Review: Very good book. Some things seem dorky at the beginning but then clear up towards the end of the story. A few interesting twists here and there. In the beginning it seems as though the author's trying too hard to get reader's attention using explicit gore descriptions instead of focusing more on other writing skills, which he does have. Over all though, it's a very good story.

Summary: SIMPLY ,ABSOLUTELY,DOWNRIGHT AWESOME READING!
Review: Very very well written and enjoyable. A must read for sure again and again. The Poe angle added a very wicked touch. All I can say is, that the crow(the man),and crow(the bird)make a awesome tagteam! Revenge is a dish best served cold, and man its north pole SUB-ZERO COLD! I knew I would love this book, once I saw the bird do more that just flap, fly and caw.It didn't take long for the action, and the tone to be set. The characters are well defined, and storyline has a few twists and turns, which only enhances this tale even more! This book would have made a great movie, not crap like the city of angles is. READ THIS BOOK! I qouth ; )
