O'Connell's team, which includes Evelyn, her boozing brother Johnathan, and the Egyptian jail guard who held O' Connell captive. Rating: Summary: The movie was good, the book was better. Review: I read the book a while ago and thought it absolutly fabulus. A person who rarely reads, like me, will have extreme trouble putting it down.
Rating: Summary: Very well written! Review: I read the book first, and I absolutely loved it! I couldn't wait to see the movie. It was good, but the book was better. The movie cut out parts that I thought were important. Part of the reason I liked this book was because of Evelyn Carnahan. What a perfect role model for women! She's bright, brave and doesn't let her male counterparts get the better of her. I really admired that character. Besides that, the adventurous plot reeled me into the book and kept me reading. Before I knew it, I had finished it! Great, great book!
Rating: Summary: What did they do to the movie? Review: I saw the movie 3 times in the theatre, i loved the humor, and all around adventure feel that I haven't seen scense Indiana Jones. But I was annoyed to find that while the story remained the same, they took out all of the fun in the book. If it was a funny line or scene, the author either removed it all together or destroyed the cute one liners by draging them out. Then the Characters were wrong. O'Connell was portrayed as big, tough, and steritipical hero type instead of a fun, dashing, and brave hero type. In fact i think the only one right was Benni. All and all I was very disapointed.
Rating: Summary: Wicked Awesome Review: I think The Mummy the movie was WICKED AWESOME! It is my favorite movie out there(along with Sleepy Hollow) and so I got the book. It is just as awesome and I love O'Connell. He is very funny and so is Jonathon. ( But O'Connell is funnier) I think that you should buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: I thought that the movie "The Mummy" was good so I bought the book. I thought it wouldn't be great as the movie, but it was better! The book was more understandable, fun, and interesting. I really liked Jonathan in the story because he was very funny- even more than Jonathan in the movie. I liked the way that Max Allan Collins described the book. I think that he should write another great story.
Rating: Summary: Spectacular! Review: I thought the novel and movie were both great! I highly recommend it for all the readers out there!
Rating: Summary: Gripping horror story, or formula bound sexist book? Review: I was almost proud of the film, despite it being just as formala bound as this novel. It kept it sexism to a minimum and beyond a few very sexist/rascist moments wasn't too offensive. The novelization unfortunatly lives up to the compleate set of negative formulas for both horror and Indytype adventure stories. A good read for those who aren't offended by vulgar sexism.
