Summary: Horror and Depravity at it's Best
Review: For those of you who like an extremely edgy exploration into the pathos of the human mind, you'll get quite a rush from this collection of bizarre and controversial short stories. Some of these stories, particularly "Mugic" and "The Calling", remind me of very edgy versions of Twilight Zone episodes with clever surprise endings. The last 3 stories are horrifying acts of intense inhumanity that some can inflict upon others. As some of the reviewers who complained about children getting their hands on this book, UH DUHHH, this is obviously not a book for the kiddies, but come on, why base your review on that fact. Lance also delves into the pathos of religion (which sometimes makes the news as reality, not fiction) and dysfunctions of the human condition. If you want to take a roller coaster ride into the id, check out this bizarre, extremely imaginative, twisted, vulgar, and well written collection of short stories. Do you dare to?

Summary: Don't Buy
Review: I ask that you read Mr. Smithson's review. As soon as it was entered, it appeared that two individuals sent in raves about Mr. Lances book, almost to the day. Prior to this, Lance's book remained largely unreviewed. I agree with Smithson. This book is terrible and beyond vulgar. Do not keep this volume close to where children have any chance of getting to it. I would not doubt if Lance himself wrote the raving reviews. If indeed he did write his own raving reviews than he is a bigger loser than he was when he paid somebody to publish his work. If you buy this book, you will probably find yourself offering it back used.

Summary: Second Serving, well worth waiting for!!
Review: I have been waiting for a second serving from Mr. Lance since I read the first. His writing is fresh, clever, shocking, and thought provoking as ever. His stories are totally original and entertaining. I especially enjoyed MUGIC.

Summary: mirror to the world
Review: I left out of my previous review that the author flawlessly used the art of language to bring the reader into the story. Though this Author is unknown, his use of the language reminds me of John Steinbeck. The hammer and nails that he uses to build his stories are world class. These are horror stories, feeling comfortable and warm inside is not horror and is not what the Author intended. He intends to educate us to the horror that is part of our everyday world. This is the source of discomfort that you feel while reading, it is the horror.

Summary: Vulgarian Goulash: Second Serving delivers the goods
Review: Once again, Steven Lance has delivered a mind-blowing journey into the darkness of humankind with his second serving of Vulgarian Goulash. I agree whole-heartedly with the reviewer from Raleigh, NC, especially when he writes about the stories constantly resurfacing from the subconscious. Mr. Lance's stories tenaciously cling to the darker parts of my psyche, and sometimes they even appear to have a direct influence on the more unusual occurrences in my life. The power of The Goulash. The power of the writing, the clever wit, the extreme nature of the subject matter, and the author's ability to keep you wholly entranced in his creations are the reasons to buy both Vulgarian Goulash works. It is quite obvious that the reviewer from Austin, TX must have been reviewing the wrong book, or else he may just be trying to deal with his own inadequacies. Both Vulgarian Goulashes are superbly written. The writing content is extraordinarily powerful and the stories flow beautifully. Steven Lance is definitely in my top 10 favorite writers of all-time, and the only contemporary writer on the list. No small feat. Buy this book. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: A Radically Different Kind Of Fiction
Review: Once again, this author actually paid to have this book published. This volume is a poor attempt at reviewing a very interesting subject. The editing is almost as bad as the writing content and grammar. This author needs to "get a life" and stop paying people to write his books.

Summary: Horror and Depravity at it's Best
Review: This book needs serious help. I agree with the previous critique; do not let this book near any children. This is beyond vulgar.

Summary: mirror of today
Review: When I read this book I was at first put off by the content, wondering why someone would choose to write such uncomfortable stuff. Then I read current events and I realized that the content was a mirror to the world today. The Author used his imagination to add details that were left out of the real life reports. Any problem with the content is a problem with the world today especially the escalating violence, example in the past no one had to lock doors and today you need razor wire. Todays weapons can kill many more people than in the past. This is civilization? The exploitation of woman on the internet is exposed as the horror that it is today. The Author fights a windmill in frustration at the horror that he sees in todays world. Read this book then read the newspaper and see the seamless transition. Strip away your numerous pretentions and see the reality in this fiction. The Authors attack on God are not an attack on the mystery of life but an attack on organized religions. The ones that kill in the name of God. Examples are sprinkled throughout History and sadly enough continue today. With no chance to actually change the world lets be at least aware. Lets eat the horror that is eating us, more goulash please.
