Rating: Summary: Not a best seller, but it makes you think! Review: "The Hollow Skull," is a interesting story. Although not a bestseller, I believe it has great potential for a sequel. The plot is extremly confusing, but I think that is part of what makes the story intersting as well as its fusturistic science. I would recomed this book to other readers.
Rating: Summary: Not you run of the mill Horror story Review: As always, Christopher Pike creates a book that forces the reader to heighten their thinking to another level. With a combination of fuisturistic sciences and a small town heroine with a will of steel, Pike not only entertains the reader, but he provokes wonder for those who are willing to accept it.Christopher Pike has a knack for not treating the reader as an idiot (for lack of a better word) and as always, treats the reader as an intelligent person and does not spell out every detail. The antagonist has a desire to create one consciousness in this book, but unlike in the Starlight Crystal, the end goal is not so positive. To what degree are we willing to sacrifice those we love to save ourselves, and to what degree are we willing to sacrifice ourselves to save others?
Rating: Summary: Pike Serves His Purpose Review: Before reading the Hollow Skull, I didn't think it would be all that exciting. However, Pike proved me wrong and I felt it was very satisfying. People are beginning to say that Pike is losing his touch but I think he's setting the Pike fans up for another big surprise. I believe he'll be coming out with some really good stuff soon and surprise everyone. That's how I felt about the Last Vampire series. It was one big bomb shell that left an incredible impact. Still, The Hollow Skull is worth reading, and if you are a true fan of Pike, you'll read it.
Rating: Summary: A good book that makes you think. Review: I do not agree with the other reveiws of this book. I think it's time that we start thinking while reading a book. It's not that hard. Mr. Pike did leave a few dead ends, but that just gives the reader a chance to be creative! I liked this, it was just as good as all his others. I think the author is just changing his style of writing with his more recent books, and that doesn't mean they aren't good. This book has a certain feeling of a bigger presence, with Sio and all. It makes you feel that there is someone watching, which is a comforting thought. Even if this someone wants to destroy mankind...
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I don't agree with some of the readers. This book is right up there with Chain Letter 2 as Pike's best book. This one really made me think and had some interesting characters. And it had GORE. This book has some extremely gory moments. But i do have to say that I HATED the ending. The book moves at such a great pace and had me not able to put the book down. But then the ending came and it left a sour taste in my mouth. But the ending can not stop this from being a great book! Personally, I'd like a sequel which could make this ending a little better. This book has 210 pages. It was one of the best books i've ever read up until page 203.
Rating: Summary: Moving On Review: I enjoyed this book very much. It seems like Mr. Pike has tapped into the greater meaning of life, delving beneath the surface and producing some very disturbing material. Pike has grown with his audience, preparing us for the more twisted and crumbling world to be...
Rating: Summary: Good, smart, but not brilliant. Review: I have to agree that this isn't Pike's best work. I'v followed him since he was first published, and while he's obviously a brilliant writer, we can't expect perfection every time. This is his 45th novel, if I'm not mistaken, and it's hard to write 45 pieces of perfect literature. No, it doesn't have the shattering impact of the Sita Books, but it is very interesting. I'll also admit that it can get confusing at times, but that's one of the reasons I liked it so much. I liked Cass as a characters, and while the concept of Sio was odd and vague, there was a fullness about her. To the other reviewer who was so confused, my understanding is that Sio injected herself with her chips, turned into this superhuman being, went back in time and started the word over so that she could eventually destroy it. And all Pike's books have a pleasant sass, of which this is no except. It won't change your life, but it will give you a good time.
Rating: Summary: a bit too depressing Review: I liked it fairly enough, but i HATED the ending! I guess that I'm just one of those people who likes happy endings. That whole doomed Earth thing is just too much.
Rating: Summary: This is a good book but not Pike's best Review: I really like this book. It was sort of like the invasion of the body snatchers revisited, but there is a heroine who you really grow to like. The ending of this book has a wonderful Christopher Pike twist.
Rating: Summary: Not his best Review: I thought it was a pretty good book......but I saw the whole boyfriend lieing thing coming a mile away......a good easy read if you want that
