Summary: A Bawdy Enjoyable Romp -- Not for those easily offended
Review: I had no idea when I started reading this what I was letting myself in for. The forward does not come close to preparing you for this bawdy, enjoyable journey through the tales of childhood. The mythological aspect is an intriguing start to the book, which quickly descends into an erotic wonderland where Santa is seduced by the Tooth Fairy (even Saints have their weaknesses), an affair that finally comes to a head 20 years later, when Santa confesses to Mrs. Claus that his Yule log has been burning in somebody else's fireplace. It's a page turner from page one. I would recommend this for anybody who wants something unique to add to their bookshelves, but if you are easily offended or lack a sense of humour, this should be one book you should skip.

Summary: Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Review: I have never - and I mean never - read a book quite like this. Robert Devereaux has taken the mythical figures of our childhood and recast them as the pagan hedonistic gods they were. Santa begins a torrid affair with the Tooth Fairy. The Easter Bunny is a Peeping Tom. Mrs. Claus plots her revenge. This is the filthiest, funniest most original book I've read in years. It comes in a beautiful signed edition limited to 1000 copies. Get it while you can. This is cutting edge fiction at its best.

Summary: If you're looking for something different...
Review: I have never read a book quite like this one: and that was one of the best things about it! I bought it around Christmas-time from boredom with what seemed like the same books rehashed over and over. I was pleasantly surprised with this one and it definitely gave me a renewed outlook on Christmas this year. I thought I would never see Santa the same way again. However, I was dissapointed with that strange ending, although it was shocking.

Summary: Loses its Vibe
Review: I have to admit, the notion of reading about Santa having an affair with the Tooth Fairy awoke something in me. Something perverted to say the least. I was thinking that I would come upon this book like no other and truly enjoy it. Who wouldn't enjoy reading about a fat old guy romping around with a wild beauty like the Tooth Fairy (just her name is sensual enough to get arise out of anyone)? I loved the first chapters of the book, when the jolly old elf meets the fairy and starts doing the nasty. Devereaux excels in creating this voluptuous, majestic image of his Tooth Fairy character that you would just want to have your arms around and never let go of this topless wonder. And those panties of hers are always a given plus. OOOOOHHH, baby!!!

The story starts out fine with the breakdown of how things fall out with Santa going through his midlife crisis and infidelity. Along the line, though, Devereaux just lets up with his sex. In every 4 or 5 pages, we have someone or the other doing it. The Easter Bunny, the elves, Mrs. Claus, The Tooth Fairy and Santa himself. What was forming to be quite a good read just fell in through the seams when things got to that level. Even the act grew more and more mundane. It was not love, though the characters swore it was, it was just jumping on someone poking here and there and putting things here and there. Sex, I believe, was taken for granted in the long run. Devereaux just made it look not as much an act of love, but more of an animalistic desire.

The story was going nowhere. Devereaux just lingered on with more sexual exploits by introducing another woman character that Santa would have sex with and lo and behold would engage into threesome acts with him and his wife. The story doesn't pick up until the jealous Tooth Fairy decides to exact her revenge on all. Devereaux was either lost when he wrote the story or just couldn't make out what he was trying to get at. Case in point would be how he decides to tell the background of his characters. All of which, have some Greek mythology put right down into it. I never read of any explicit sexual exploits of the gods and goddesses in the Odyssey or the Iliad. I guess Devereaux decided that it would be cool to have deities like those go ballistic on everyone's butt like they do here. That, no matter how creative it might be, was utterly not amusing on my part. Did he break the straw? Yes he did! How dare he go on bringing out that Superman wants nothing more than to show his super manhood to Lois Lane? Being a comic book collector and a Superman fan, that truly appalled me, especially knowing that Supes is married to Lane and the love he shares with his wife has never been anything but a warm, sincere affection.

For Devereaux it has to be his way and his way is the sex way. Men have nothing better to do in this lifetime, but engage in it. Knowing that, I wonder what makes us so different than the other animals on this planet. I fail to see the difference between his Santa and a kangaroo during mating. Just that the kangaroo has a mating season while Santa is the all-out, all-world sex machine.

Apart from an excellent beginning and a true orgasmic climax, Santa Steps Out is a book that certainly leaves no mark on you and does not influence you whatsoever. Heck, reading Playboy would get a rise out of you than checking the elf go out on a breeding frenzy.

Read at your own risk and your own sexhood for that matter.

Summary: My jaw is still hanging!
Review: I just closed the back cover of SANTA STEPS OUT, and I'm left dazed with disbelief. Oh my God! Who ever knew you could get aroused by the story of Saint Nick and his elves and reindeer? And yet there's a mythic undertone that elevates the humping and licking and fondling to high art. Amazing. This is a book that will occupy a prime spot on my bookshelves. It's gorgeous, plus it's a great piece of literature. And it's deliciously nasty.

Summary: A sexual fairy tale coupling Santa and the Tooth Fairy
Review: I just finished reading "Santa Steps Out" by Robert Devereaux (Dark Highway Press). I loved this dirty little tale of yuletide perversity featuring the jolly old elf himself and the amorous Tooth Fairy who will stop at nothing to be filled, again and again, with Santa's Christmas warmth. Only one thing stands in the couple's way of perpetual sexual gratification--a wronged Mrs. Claus with an unusual method of evening the score, so to speak. Don't get me wrong. This is not your typical run-of-the-mill sex book. The story is well-written and steeped in ancient mythology, along with a heavy dose of witty dialog. "Santa Steps Out" is a book for those who appreciate good literature, and also like the idea of Santa getting laid. Highly recommended.

Summary: I loved this book
Review: I loved this book with all its sick and twisted ways. I will never look at the Easter Bunny, Santa, Mrs Claus or the Tooth Fairy the same way. I have given this book as a Christmas gift and now own the signed hardcover.

Summary: The holidays will never be the same for me
Review: I ordered Santa Steps Out last month. Even though it says 6-8 weeks up there, I got mine in about a week. And it was everything I hoped for: nasty, fun, wild, and wicked. I plan on reading this one every year--along with Dickens! Nice job, Mr. Devereaux! You've created a classic.
