Rating: Summary: Great Book! One of the Best Review: A great book once again by the one and only Christopher Pike. He sends out a history story with horror for an edge-of-the-seat-pageturner. Everyone should read this book and all of the other ones becuase they are also gripping stories of horror.
Rating: Summary: Looking For a Good Scare? Review: Are you looking for a good scare? Are you tired of all the old horror books that make you fall asleep? Do you want something new and exciting? If you are, you should consider "The Wicked Heart" by Christopher Pike. It's a book about horror, twisted with love and hate, with one wicked heart. Sheila Harold lost her best friend in one of Dusty Shames attacks. Dusty is terrible. Dusty is a serial killer. He is the one and only wicked heart. Sheila's boyfriend just broke up with her, and her best friend is missing, Sheila thinks she might be dead. Sheila is doing everything she can to help stop the killings. But, can she find out who it is fast enough? Can she stop Dusty from killing? A little history from an old man and evidence from cold cases can help her come closer to stopping Dusty Shame. The wicked heart. Personally, I really liked the book. I would rate the book 8/10. I love a good horror book to scare me out of my mind. Once I got my hands on "The Wicked Heart", I couldn't put it down. Anyone who loves a good scare will love this book. I would recommend this book to all ages.
Rating: Summary: overrated to say the least..... Review: back in my childhood days, nothing made me as excited as going to the bookstore and picking out a new book by christopher pike. a couple of years passed and my obsession cooled as i began to read more adult-oriented material. then, a few weeks ago, out of the blue i began to think of these old favorites, and to miss them. i ordered a bunch of them on amazon, and besides titles that i remember loving i ordered a couple i had never read. the wicked heart belongs in this latter category. it arrived first, so i read it first. i was extremely disappointed. although the references to nazi germany and the origins of "the wicked heart" add some color to the story, they cannot make up for the one-dimensional characters who never end up recieving your sympathy. the most memorable part, in terms of how ridiculous it is, is when the main character, shorty after learning of her best friend's death, cries on the phone to the chief of police about how her boyfriend has broken up with her. at first, i assumed that i had outgrown christopher pike's novels and had wasted money by purchasing them. but then i recieved the others i had ordered. i just finished reading "weekend" and it was great. it was published in 1986, while "the wicked heart" was published in 1993. perhaps his older works are better? or perhaps he had a tight deadline to meet when he wrote "the wicked heart"? i dont know, but i DO know that my copy is going to the thrift store, and if you want a good christopher pike book you should definitely look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: This is one of Christopher Pike's best. Review: Christopher Pike has woven a great story with many twists and turns throughout the story. One part I'd change though, is that Sheila not be so dependent on Matt. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend this book. I checked it out of the library and since it was so good, I got a copy of it. I can totally relate to Dusty, and he's a believable character. He seems sweet. To find out what happens to him read the book!!!!
Rating: Summary: Dusty Shame Review: I love this book it is the best horror have read and one of my favourites especialy Dusty he seems so nice even though he was a killer I love his character he is the best.It would have been nice if he and sheila got together i did not like matt
Rating: Summary: this book was great Review: i loved this book....the plot was again wonderful.....this book kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time i was reading it......at times i fell like killing dusty but others i felt sympathetic for him.....he wasent really a bad person..he just had problems....i loved this book it was on of the first pike books ive ever read...i loved it
Rating: Summary: Horrible Book Review: I read this book when I was in middle school, I am now 21 and this book still haunts me. I would not suggest that any parent let their child read this book. This book tells about a boy who kills girl by hitting them in the head with a hammer. It is very gruesome and should not be read by children at all.
Rating: Summary: A reader from Idaho Review: I thought that this book had a very complex plot. That is probably what made it so interesting. It was well written because there were certain things that were worked into the plot...and then there was more, and more. I am glad that at the end it was solved BY THE LIKABLE SHEILA. The reason I liked her so much is becaue she was so brave and she may of prevented six other deaths from happening. I dont really blame all of it on dusty because he was possesed by his mother and grandmother.
Rating: Summary: GREAT!!!! Review: I thought that this one of Pike's best! He is such a wonderful author and i hope he keeps writing for a long time.i felt bad for Dusty in a way.If you have ever read any of Pike's book and looking for another one of his books to read you should pick this one it was GREAT!!!
Rating: Summary: He did it again. Review: Intense, semi-historical, and definately breathtaking, that's definately how you would discribe this book. I felt sorry for Dusty, but he did a very heroic act in the end. You definately have to read this.
