Rating: Summary: One of Mr. Pike's Best; Great Ending Review: "Fall into Darkness" begins in a courtroom. Sharon McKay has been accused of killing her best friend, Ann Rice, but Sharon knows she's innocent. Ann had apparently died from a fall from a cliff, but there's no real proof of this because her body was never found. So, it's up to Sharon's attorney, Johnny Richmond, to prove that she didn't push Ann off the cliff, rather Ann jumped to her death. The book switches between the present (the trial) and the past (just before, and up to, Ann's death). The reader soon learns Ann harbored a strong hatred for her best friend Sharon. She blamed Sharon for breaking her brother's (Jerry Rice) heart, which ultimately lead to his suicide one year ago. However, nobody knows about Ann's pent-up anger--least of all Sharon--, except for Ann's boyfriend, Paul Lear. He's the only one Ann confides in about her need for revenge. The plan is simple: invite a group of unsuspecting friends on a camping trip as witnesses, get Sharon alone with Ann, then when the opportunity is right, fake her own death by dropping over the side of the cliff with a safety harness on. (All the equipment had been strategically placed beforehand.) She would then maneuver down the side of the rock and run away to safety. Sharon would obviously be the number one suspect since she was the last person with Ann, and, more than likely, Sharon would be found guilty and put behind bars. It seemed perfect enough--until Ann discovered the real cause of her brother's death. But by then it's too late. "Fall into Darkness" has a great twist in the end. This is one of Christopher Pike's better books. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes teen suspense and/or Christopher Pike books. "Fall into Darkness" was later made into a TV movie in 1996, starring Tatyana Ali, Jonathan Brandis, Charlotte Ross, and Paul Scherrer. Christopher Pike was one the producers of the film. .... Unfortunately, I never saw it, but I'm hoping it was as good as the book.

Rating: Summary: One of Mr. Pike's Best; Great Ending Review: Christopher Pike tends to write for teens but what he does with the written word is like no other. He takes suspense and brings it to a new level. The story itself was breath taking and the ending impeccable. It has been a few years now since I read this fine piece of literature but it still stands out in my mind. Everyone should read it.

Rating: Summary: Great plot. Surprising ending. Just read it. Review: Fall into Darkness is another one of Christopher Pike's finest books. If you like horror books, like R.L. Stine's, you better read this. If you think Stine is great, then read this and you will see what a REAL great writer is.
Rating: Summary: great astonishing work of art Review: Fall Into Darkness is one of C.Pikes best books. I know they had to butcher the book, if they hadn't the movie would have to be like 3 hours long. The book was excellent Chad was kind of the underdog and Sharon didn't deserve what happened at the end. The book was still the bomb!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS UNIQUE & CREATIVE, ONE OF PIKE'S VERY FINEST. Review: Fall Into Darkness is one of Christopher Pike's most talented and unique books. It surely qualifies for the description, "a real page- turner" Every chapter leaves you completely satisfied as you progress and figure out more and more in the complicated plot. You learn in the beginning that Anne wants to murder her best friend. Anne thinks her friend made her sweet song-writer brother kill himself. Anne is a clever person, and doesn't want to go to jail for man- slaughter. So instead, she and her boyfriend think of a different plan. Anne decides that on a camping trip, she will make it seem as if her best friend pushed her off the cliff, murdering her. Her friend should then get the death penalty--or at least jail for life. Anne starts a fight with her friend, loud enough so that her friends back at the fire can hear. When her friend is leaving, Anne jumps onto a small ledge about twenty feet down, then uses a rope she put there for that purpose to climb down the cliff. When she got to the bottom, the plan was to meet up with her boyfriend and head off to Mexico. Then, her friend would be tried and surely convicted for murder. Anne is sure, even if her friend is not convicted, even being arrested will ruin her life, because everyone will think she is a murderer. But her plan doesn't work out as she wanted it to. Her friend goes to jail, but Anne never made it to Mexico. Her fate was to be much worse than that... This book is written in a captivating style that some other of Pike's books have taken on. The chapters switch from in the courtroom where Anne's friend is being tried for murder, and what actually happened the night Anne took that fatal jump. I GIVE FALL INTO DARKNESS ***** OUT OF ***** STARS
