Rating: 4 stars
Summary: One of the 25 Best
Review: I picked the book up on a lark. The front cover is dominated by the face of a fat, psychotic, Oliver Hardy/Adolf Hitler hybrid of a man. I must have seemed nuts laughing out loud in the bookstore, and I really bought it for the cover. Then I sat down and read it. Whew! Not only is it very well plotted, Darke's use language is mesmerizing. It hooked me from the start and did not let up 'til the end. I will say this is not for the faint of heart. The depictions of death and the depraved sex that ensues are straight out of the Laymon/Little horror writer's handbook. Sexual murders, mutilation of genetalia, pedophilia, rape, and sinister depictions of the true minds of men and women are only a few of the things the reader must face head on while reading Horrorshow. Like I said: not for the faint of heart. The only thing that kills a five-star rating is the ending, which is too surreal and pointless for the hard-driving horror that precedes it. Still, it is on my shelf as one of the twenty-five best books I've ever read.

Review: The writing in this book is too good, too polished for me to believe that it was written by a virtual unknown. Excellent writing - very violent, sexual, yet fluid and mesmerizing. If you can find this book, disregard the cover and pick it up. Great character development and a moving plot.

I picked it up on a whim, and it is one of the most well-wriiten books that I have ever come accross.
