Rating: Summary: An incredibly intelligent novel Review: I LOVE this book. I think the reason people were critizing the "technical stuff" was just because they are too young to understand it. I really feel that this is an adult book trapped behind a teen book's cover. Or at least, a book that is more appropriate for more intelligent teenagers, and adults. It's extremely deep and fascinating, with many levels of meaning. It starts off as a typical teen novel ... You've got the heroine, Rela, and she has typical teenager problems: dealing with her family, a crush on a boy, friends, etc. Then she buys a VCR that can record the future, and you think "Oh boy, this looks cheesy." But soon she begins to have terrible nightmares about the cyborgs of the future, and the novel becomes a tragic vision of a future dystopia that Rela must try to prevent. It also tells the tragic story of her relationship with her grandfather, who only wanted to use technology to save humanity, and ended up destroying it. In the end, all the loose ends tie together and this novel makes more sense than you could possibly have imagined from the outset. Christopher Pike is a BRILLIANT writer.
Rating: Summary: Very creative and imaginative Review: I loved this book. It had a wonderful plot line that made sense. The way the conflict in the story was resolved and the character descriptions tied into the story's overarching theme and plot. It elicited a lot of emotions and left me with a sense of who the characters were. I felt I could understand the characters psychology and I saw how their personality tied into their actions. The story does get a bit tedious when Pike gets into technical stuff, but it fits in well. The plot and twist was very creative and unique.
Rating: Summary: One of Pike's BEST! Review: I really loved reading this book! The beginning of the story was really appealing and interesting, but the end, in my opinion, was a bit too complicated. I must admit it was really boring when Pike starts writing about all the robots and things but I still really liked the story. Rela is a great character 'cause she's so brave and noble. I also really loved the plot and the suspense!
Rating: Summary: IT WAS ALLRIGHT Review: I STARTED OUT READING PIKE BOOKS LIKE DIE SOFTLY AND CHAIN LETTER AND I LOVED THEM. NOW IM READING BOOKS LIKE THIS AND THEY'RE GOOD AND EVERYTHING BUT A LITTLE TOO SCIENCE FICTIONY FOR ME. WHEN I STARTED READING IT I WAS THINKING HOW GREAT IT WAS GETTING. THEN HE STARTED WITH ROBOTS AND JUNK AND I WAS STRUGGLING TO KEEP AWAKE AT THOSE PARTS. I LIKE THE BOOKS MAIN IDEA BUT I THINK HE GOT A LITTLE TOO DEEP INTO THE ROBOT SUBJECT. IF YOU WANT A GREAT PIKE BOOK, READ REMEMBER ME OR FINAL FRIENDS!!!
Rating: Summary: very nicely done Review: I thought this book was really good......yeah it had its slow moments but dosent every book....but just as he always does pike brings it all together and makes a smashing finish.....i loved it...i thought it was really an emotional part at the end when rela is talking with her grandfather.....i thought this book was really sad...i cried ALOT!!!...but it was still a wounderful book!!
Rating: Summary: STRANGE Review: If your into the whole science fiction thing then you'll like this book.
Rating: Summary: The Eternal Enemy Review: Pike's novels are the kind that delve deep into the depths of the human soul. A must read. J.C. Allen
Rating: Summary: It was okay Review: Robots don't really interest me. I thought this book was fairly written, but the thought of robots taking over the world isn't quite original. Pike has written better work than this.
Rating: Summary: great book! Review: the first time i read it it really caught my attention but when it comes to futuristic stuff i was kinda bored but still i read it and i cried at the end
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: This book is just amazing. I literally cried, it was so touching (Rela's nobility and bravery). Though it is a lot to swallow, its worth it. You see people in a different light, and it makes you question technology. Read it, and you'll see what I mean. This book is friggin' awesome tho!
