Rating: Summary: ehhhh... Review: Okay, Mr. Pike is a great author and has a pure talent at writing and deserves king of YA horror. This book was really good but when the 'twist' came, ehhhhh... can anyone say STUPID!
Rating: Summary: Very strong book Review: A young girl buys a new VCR and befriends the salesman. What she does not expect is that the VCR somehow records the future, & it provides her with a conflict. Does she try to change it, or just let things take their natural course? One of the things that makes this book so powerful is that it is a sequel to itself.
Rating: Summary: Scary and surprising until the end! Review: Although this was not the best book that Pike has wwritten it was good. I love his books they are so full of horror and mystery. Usually I can tell the end of the story but in this one I was stumped. I loved this book!
Rating: Summary: One of Pike's BEST! Review: Christopher Pike has done it again! He has achieved a wonderfulblend of three dimensional characters with an original and captivatingstoryline. I appreciate how he gave the characters such depth. The phych of the novel gets to you and pulls you in. The ending is extremely satisfying and fitting for the novel. A must for Pike fans.

Rating: Summary: As is usual for C. Pike, sounds awful but is incredible Review: Every one of Christopher Pike's books sound cheesy, cheep, like it's just some predictable, nonsensical little bit of brainless writing that you will knock back like a fear street. This one was especially sounding so with the VCR of tomorrow. But. But as usual Christopher Pike turned it around with sheer genius, (stop reading now if you haven't read the book) a brilliant touch that the girl could see into the future, not that her VCR could. I think it's ridiculous that people complain about the technical stuff, I find it utterly fascinating and I am sick to death of stories that do not add up. The part where Pike shows that cybernetics take over the world was a subtle masterpiece, in that he explained people's feelings and thoughts-there was no evil plot (initially) by robots, people all simply wanted to be more intelligent and so took the boosts, becoming more and more computerised. The most interesting thing is, ask yourself, "wouldn't you do the same". I really don't know.well, another great book of Christopher Pike's and I've forgotten a lot of the plot so if my review is off I'm very sorry.
Rating: Summary: David's Review Review: I am reviewing the book "The Eternal Enemy" its about this girl that buys a VCR from the local department store so she can record a movie to show at this party's she's throwing. But instead of taping the movie she records the next nights news. It was fun at first until she finds herself in the news. I give the book 4 stars because the story is scary and great throughout the whole book.
Rating: Summary: This is not some cheesy pre-teen horror book Review: I first read this book five years ago when i was about 14. I thought it would be a generic horror book marketed at people my age. I could not have been more wrong. The story line is not overly complex but is intensly interesting. Full of twists and turns, the plot and sub-plots will keep you glued to the book. I found this story to be very deep, exploring issues of how our actions shape our future. Call me a softy, but I also thought this book was very sad, causing me to cry for hours.
Rating: Summary: An incredibly intelligent novel Review: I LOVE this book. I think the reason people were critizing the "technical stuff" was just because they are too young to understand it. I really feel that this is an adult book trapped behind a teen book's cover. Or at least, a book that is more appropriate for more intelligent teenagers, and adults. It's extremely deep and fascinating, with many levels of meaning. It starts off as a typical teen novel ... You've got the heroine, Rela, and she has typical teenager problems: dealing with her family, a crush on a boy, friends, etc. Then she buys a VCR that can record the future, and you think "Oh boy, this looks cheesy." But soon she begins to have terrible nightmares about the cyborgs of the future, and the novel becomes a tragic vision of a future dystopia that Rela must try to prevent. It also tells the tragic story of her relationship with her grandfather, who only wanted to use technology to save humanity, and ended up destroying it. In the end, all the loose ends tie together and this novel makes more sense than you could possibly have imagined from the outset. Christopher Pike is a BRILLIANT writer.
