Rating: Summary: An exciting legal thriller Review: Mariah contacted Boulder attorney Cinda Hayes via a radio call-in show. Mariah claims her father, Colorado senatorial candidate Harrison McKay, sexually molested her as a child. However, the waif-like woman also admits that her memories of her relationship with her now estranged father are vague and seemingly repressed.Mariah resides with a neo-Nazi militia group that leaves chills running up and down Cinda's spine. Still, she begins to investigate Mariah's claim. As Cinda makes her inquiries, she finds herself beguiled and repulsed by the militia's "Judge" Pike Sayers. However, the case turns dangerous when someone, perhaps the enigmatic Pike, will kill to insure Mariah's memories remain fragmented and other evidence remains buried. A SUGGESTION OF DEATH is an excellent legal thriller that will propel Marianne Wesson soaring to the top of the bestseller lists. The astute story line focuses on the legal questions dealing with repressed memories while still pumping out action. Cinda retains her witty, self-deprecating vigorousness. However, her commons sense needs to be questioned when ugly incidents that should have sent her to the police, drive her to dig deeper. Cinda's partner Tory Meadows continues to be a spirited caring individual and Pike adds a sinister freshness. With this tale and RENDER UP THE BABY, Ms. Wesson has quickly proven she is an impressive writer. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: This is a must read for mystery lovers Review: Marianne Wesson delivered a well thoughtout story with interesting characters. I did not figure anything out before she wanted me to (always a big plus in my book). I read her first book "Render Up the Body" which also featured attorney Cinda Hayes and hopes she delivers another one soon. This is not just another version of every other book you've read lately. If you are looking for something new and refreshing, try this.
Rating: Summary: "Suggestion" beats all! Review: Marianne Wesson's "A Suggestion of Death" is a wonderfully thoughtful, beautifully written suspense novel, surpassing even her first book, "Render Up the Body." Wesson takes on critical social issues while at the same time keeping us involved and eager. This is an intelligent book by an intelligent author. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: Neither loved it or hated it Review: The thirteen current reviews are split between those who loved or hated the book. My opinion is decidedly more ambivalent. I basically found the book to be a grind to read with just enough redeeming features to keep me from giving up. Which was good because the pages actually turned somewhat easily towards the end. For those who know Boulder, the book is worth the time for no other reason that to read about the Boulder "Trifecta" - a bumper sticker contest in the law office. It really captures the essence of Boulder. For the rest of you, I'm hard pressed to encourage this book unless you're interested in either the militia movement or repressed memory issues. Interest in (or at least tolerance for) a healthy does of lesbian politics wouldn't hurt either. I don't know if it was the issues or the writing but this book was incredibly easy to put down. Things warmed up in the final hundred pages but even then Wesson wimped out on the ending. I'd much prefer a Stephen Walsh White mystery set in Boulder.

Rating: Summary: A welcome new voice in the legal thiller genre! Review: With "Render Up The Body" and "A Suggestion Of Death", former prosecutor Marianne Wesson opens a new door in legal thrillers. Cinda Hayes is a wonderful character set in two exciting stories. I was fortunate enough to pick up both books at the same time and read them eagerly in one weekend. I am not a lawyer, but these books ring true. The mysteries are excellent and nothing is revealed until the author wants you to know. I am a big fan of legal thrillers and I will be waiting anxiously for Cinda's next appearance.
