Summary: This book is cool
Review: I read this book when I was in 8 grade and it was the best book I ever read. It was a little long but still it was a really great book and I really enjoyed. READ THIS BOOK!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: HOT
Review: This is Perretti's best book ever. Those people who don't like it are just the oldfashioned boring stereotypes who want to hear angels and demons converse. Oh yes, this book is fiction, so you should not expect it to be real - duh! I mean, how can you say this book ain't good. Wasn't Piercing the Darkness, 'fight fire with fire' too? If you don't like this book, obviously you want Frank Perretti to keep on writing the same stuff until we get tired of him. I say GOOD JOB. The older folks don't like it, but we youngsters do and we'll keep on getting your books. After all, we are the new generation, we want this stuff!

Summary: Beautiful, haunting, uplifting.
Review: From the opening chapter, Frank Peretti's marvelous writing takes you on a roller coaster of emotions that continues throughout the entire read. It's great to see a Christian writer match the caliber of the Grisham's and Chrichton's, and one who is not ashamed to present Christianity in a sugar-coated fashion.

I definately recommend this book to any sci-fi/suspense/drama fan. Check out my other reviews for other great Christian products.

Summary: Not His best, but still well worth the read
Review: The Oath was an interesting departure from the pattern of Peretti's other works. I enjoyed this work because it was, at its core, a mystery and suspense-thriller, taking the reader on a roller coaster ride. This work held your attention until the very end. What I did not like, however, was that the pace slowed down in many places. The charcters did do a good job bringing me back into the story. All-in-all, this book was very well-written and well worth the read. It has all the elements of a good thrill, but what separates it from an ordinary thriller is that there is an underlying spiritual message.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: I think this is probably one of my favorite Peretti novels. Lots of people are saying this book is too "dark." That's cause Peretti reminds us about SIN - that we can't run from sin and we can't try to hide sin under the table. The longer we ignore and deny it, the bigger it gets until it ends up owning us....

And of course the freedom from it comes from Jesus Christ alone.

This story clearly brings to mind Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Peretti illustrates this very truth in his book "The Oath." Full of suspense and great characters, I guarantee you won't be able to put this book down!

Summary: Pure, Dripping Suspense
Review: THE OATH is about as close to the "horror" genre as Christian fiction gets. In the backwoods town of Hyde River, somewhere in the northwest, strange things are happening and people are disappearing. Steve Benson's brother falls victim and, when the death is chalked up to a bear attack, out of disbelief Steve begins to examine the evidence with more scrutiny. What he finds is utterly shocking. Hyde River has a secret. A secret that binds the town into what can only be described as an chilling pact with pure evil. And now that he knows what it is, he must be silenced.

Using graphic imagery that at times borders on shocking, Peretti unfolds a monsterously suspensful tale that will grip your heart till the very last page. The faint of heart may wish to pass this one over, but for those who love suspense this is a winner. It's a dark, forboding story, but in the end that darkness only makes the Light shine brighter. THE OATH gets five stars.

Summary: The bear facts are not bare!
Review: Frank Peretti takes a break from Spiritual Warfare in this book. This book deals with the issue of sin. Steve benson comes to town to investigate the death of his brother. The locals say the culprit was a bear, but Benson thinks otherwise. A town shrouded in secrecy and a mythical dragon add to the intrigue of this book. Peretti's description of the night Benson and the deputy sheriff stalk the dragon is just fantastic and very vivid.

When I was reading this book, I was wondering is the dragon real, a myth or cleverly manufactured and manipulated by some of the towns people. All will be revealed as you read this book.

Summary: Smart and Scary
Review: The Oath is a great book for the horror, thriller, mystery type reader like me. Even though this was written by a christian author, it read like a Stephen King novel. This book was written with great thought and imagination. After reading this book, it really made me think, and it scared me too. The ending really took my breath away. A lot of christian authors need to take lessons from mr.peretti. Read it! You will enjoy it.

Summary: No-Holds-Barred!
Review: I've heard more negative response from other Christians toward this Peretti book than any other. Why? Because it's dark, maybe. Because it doesn't paint a gleeful, daisy-filled meadow scene for us, possibly.

And these are the reasons I consider this his best.

Without forgetting to grab our attention and build his characters, Peretti sets the stage for a powerful spiritual metaphor that hits the reader between the eyes. The seductive oath of this town comes back to haunt them, and by the end, no one will be left unchanged--for better of for worse. The consequences of flirting with sin are starkly portrayed here. Don't give up too soon; read on to the finish and you'll understand Peretti's point.

Of all Peretti's books, this one alone have I been able to pass out freely to my nonbelieving friends. The story is genuinely intriguing--not just a hastly sketched backdrop for a sermon--and it grabs your attention, demanding that you heed its warning.

This may not be for all readers, particularly those who like syrupy romance or immediate feel-goods, but it's worth the effort. If you like no-holds-barred Christian fiction, "The Oath" is for you.

Summary: My Favorite!
Review: THE OATH is still my favorite of Frank's books. I've read all of his COOPER KIDS series, THIS PRESENT DARKNESS, PIECING THE DARKNESS, THE VISITATION, and have begun THE PHROPHET. I read THE OATH in the 7th grade in 1 1/2 days. I love his style and technics. I like how in most of his books you see things from the spiritual perspestive also. I highly recomend his books. yes, this one is a bit 'dark' for a Christian Novel but I totally love it and I'm only now in High School. It won't do any harm reading it! Enjoy!:)
