Rating: Summary: Frank Perettit's The Oath deserves a standing ovation. Review: Frank Perettit's The Oath was a great book that everyone should read. I mean, even the opening lines are wonderful. Every little detail is described. Anyone who hasn't read this book ought to go to the book store and buy it now!!!
Rating: Summary: Adrenaline pumping, heart racing, sheer terror........ Review: Adrenaline pumping, heart racing, sheer terror............ Does this sound like a Stephen King novel to you? It should but it isn't. This is a 550 page novel by Frank Peretti without all the cussing that is contained in a Stephen King novel. "The Oath" was a wonderfully chilling book, that kept me hooked, wondering what was going to happen on the next page. To start out the book, there is a bizarre murder that has taken place, and Steve Benson, the victim's brother, will stop at nothing in trying to find out who (or what) killed his brother, Cliff. The oath, is the secret that the people of Hyde River Valley have had for over 100 years. Steve has to discover through years of legends what this oath is to find out the mystery to his brother's death, as well as the deaths of four other people since he has arrived in town. He goes on the search with deputy Tracy Ellis, and along the way, they discover truths that are too frightening to hear, but also too frightening not to do anything about them. Along the way, they meet Levi Cobb who has a journal of hundreds of entries testifying to the oath that everyone is trying to keep--BUT, no one ever listens to Levi, and Steve and Tracy doubt whether they should, either. I cannot reveal any more without giving away the secret of The Oath, but I think you will find it breath-taking and fear-invoking. I was thrilled when I went to the local Christian bookstore, and found this novel. It is every bit as good as one of Mr. King's novels (along the line of "IT"), but without the dirty language and innuendos. I highly recommend this book, and hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. Hope you enjoy. Melissa J. Mills rynomel@aol.com
Rating: Summary: A fascinating book that will seize the reader's attention. Review: "The Oath" is a book filled with suspense, drama, and bizarre scenes. I didn't want to put the book down. I'll admit, some parts are a little wierd, and scary, but that totally fits with the nature of this book being about dark spiritual forces at work in this world. Frank Peretti is gifted in this area of writing. He weaves truth with a lot of imagination into this non-put-down book. If you're looking for a book filled with mystery and chilling scenes, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: I think this is one of his best works. Review: Like most of his books, this one grabbed me be the lapels and dragged me all the way through to the end. It makes one thinbk about what may be happening in our world today
Rating: Summary: Best book I have ever read Review: I have not ever read another book that could even compare to that of the Oath. I am not the type of person that would just sit down and read a book, but when i started reading the Oath, I litteraly could not put it down. I would have to say it is Frank Peretti's best book yet, and I can not wait to read his next.
Rating: Summary: Do you care? Review: I've met F. Peretti the first time in this book and from the beginning I kept the distance because I don't like books about monsters & most of SF at all. But the way he was writting amazed me. It was something more than any story. And it's living somewhere inside me in the reflection: do you care? I stop and think: oh, I'm districted, I have to concentrate, I have to care, so then I can create my life better. And when Levi says: " When you stop caring, that's when the dragon'll take you". That's about all things I have to face, this dragon. Everything is important. That's my life. So I have to care.
Rating: Summary: Another superb book Review: This book i couldnt lay down. It is THE BEST book I ever have read. The intensity and the great exitement this book has have I never seen before. Read It - you wont be sorry
Rating: Summary: Fiction ? Maybe-Maybe not. Review: The true test of a fiction author is to make the
story ( far-out as it seems) believable. Peretti does just this. The good-evil struggle undertones of this story are brilliantly brought out . I have just started my next Peretti experience and will report later
Rating: Summary: Interesting Book Review: I loved this new book by Frank Peretti. I would read by flashlight until 11:00 at night, and then sit in the dark, scared out of my mind. This book is thought provoking, but hard to believe that it was a "christian" book. If it would be made a movie, I'd hesitate to go see it. Although there were some gross parts of the book that the author of "Jurassic Park" would love, I think that all-in-all this was a great book, and I recommend it to any person over 16
Rating: Summary: An excellent storyline! Review: This was the first Peretti book I have read. I was captivated by the intensity of the events, and I read until past midnight on several nights, because I couldn't put it down! This is definitely a thriller written from a christian perspective
