Rating: Summary: The Oath was absolutely amazing! Review: This book was absolutely fabulous. It really gives you a different out look on sin and God and how hard it is to let go of sin. A very riveting book--I couldn't put it down, really.
Rating: Summary: Made me realize the need for God in my life. Review: I'm struggling with becoming a Christian. His book made me realize just how evil sin is and just how important God is. This book was not a theological doctrine--it was fiction. If you want accurate theology, go to a seminary. If you want to realize how high the stakes are for your soul, read this book.
Rating: Summary: An incredible story of devine good vs. total evil. Review: Frank E. Peretti did such a wonderful job of writing this book. I carried it everywhere and read it at every opportunity. I was very sad when it was over. The battle between good and evil was incredible. Being a new Christian it really helped me understand the devil and how he can take over our lives if we loose our faith. It was like Steven King but with a lesson.
Rating: Summary: FOUR STARS!!!!!!!! Review: THIS IS THE BEAST BOOK I'VE READ IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!TRUST ME, I'M 13 AND I'VE READ ALOT OF BOOKS IN MY LIFE. MITCHELL WALKER
Rating: Summary: A interesting novel that takes sin and puts into perspective Review: The action of this novel hits you right at the begining. After the bear is killed, it seems that the book should end but the action just keeps coming with the dragon. Every little detail must be observed to get the fullness of this book. Should not under estimate the mesage instide this book.
Rating: Summary: Somethings different... Review: I was surprised by the contents of The Oath, as I have read many other Frank Peretti books. This one was much more frightening, and much more dark that I am used to reading from him. But there is nothing pretty about the mark of the beast. It is evil. And as much as Christians may not like to admit it, Christianity isn't always pretty either. Evil is a reality in the world today and turning away from it will do no good--only an attempt to conquer it will. That's why this book is so profound. It speaks the truth about what evil can do, and sometimes there is no happy ending. But that is what makes God's love shine all the more brighter. This book presents the truth of part of the book of Revelation. It should help people understand how frightening darkness is, and how God can lead us through the darkness into light. Peretti's writing was wonderful. Captivating and strong. I admit that I didn't like it as well as his previous works. But that doesn't diminish it's importance in any way. Bravo Peretti, for trying something different without lessening your message.
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: The Oath is one of the best books I've read and if you like Stephen King or Dean Koontz you are sure to like this book! Be prepared to stay up late reading as this is one of those books that you just can't put down.
Rating: Summary: Too satanic. Not very uplifting. Review: After reading "This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness and the Prophet", I was very disappointed with this book. I found the three books mentioned to be so spiritually uplifting and motivating. Loved the Heavenly Hosts and received some clear messages. The Oath did nothing for me spiritually. I found it very hard to want to finish. It was near the end when the biblical phrase "if you have the faith of a mustard seed all things are possible" came to mind.
Rating: Summary: This is an awesome book! Review: Frank Peretti is at his best in this novel, as far as I am concerned. He masterfully describes sin as a dragon which devours its victims whole after winning their trust. I recommended it to an unsaved friend who enjoys Stephen King and R.L. Stine and he became a Christian partially because of this book.
Rating: Summary: applicable alergory: bold TRuth Review: I am reading this book for an English project. It was very enjoyable although I could see where a lack of knowledge and or Truth could hinder one's interpretation of the meanings found in this book. The use of the ferocious yet intelligent antagonist used to represent sin was very appropriate. Please read and hear what GOd has to say to you through this book!
