Summary: The Oath
Review: I bought the book a year ago but never got to read it before. When I started reading it I couldn't stop!! I read everywhere as soon as I had a minute free. And when I wasn't reading I couldn't stop thinking about this book. And now when I have finished I really miss it! I think the book describes in a good way how sin works and how it can take over one's life without one knowing what's going on. I really look forward to another book from Frank Peretti

Summary: It was a great book that touches the heart!
Review: This book was one of the best that I've ever read. Although it's quite long, it still provides good Christian reading all the while it seems to bring you a little closer to God.

Summary: Loved It - Good parable - Good novel
Review: I enjoyed this more than any other novel I've read in years. Most of what I've read is secular suspense, but since getting saved, I haven't read a lot of it because I can't hardly stand the vulgarity. This novel was a pleasant switch. The suspense/horror reminded me of Stephen King's "Needful Things", from elements in the story, as well as the writing style. I has hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down until the end. It was as good as the things I used to read, but without the guilt. As to the Christian side, if you consider the novel a "parable", there's a lot to be learned, especially regarding the nature of sin. Everyone has it, unless God's forgiven them. In the beginning, it hurts. If you let it grow, you become numb to it. It wants to eat you, yet you hate to see it go. It takes God's help to destroy it. You must take heed lest you forget to care.

Summary: The Oath is an excellent story of sin in our lives. BRAVO!!
Review: As with all of Perettis' former books, this book takes you to the truth of what sin does to us and how it effects our lives. I have the utmost admiration for an author who has the ability to portray the Christian walk with such clarity and force. The mental pictures Peretti conjures up with his words are excellent. Thanks for caring.

Summary: The Oath - a non stop read
Review: When I started to read this book it grabbed my attention. When Cliff Benson notices something strange about a whole town ignoring the death of his brother by what they considered a bear. As he further investigates this death of his brother he unravels other murders that are almost identical. It sure caught my attention when I noticed that the whole town was in on a secret that any "outsiders" like Cliff weren't aloud to know about. I was really curious to know what this thing was that was killing everyone, because a simple bear couldn't bring up murder cases like this. Once you know what the characters in the book do, like who they are for and who they are agianst, you start to whoot for them. You want Cliff to get a little closer and dig a little dipper into the case so he can catch the people and the thing that is behind all this. The Oath is a very good read that will catch your attention since the first page. I couldn't put it down myself when I first picked it up.

Summary: Too much X-Files, not enough spirituality
Review: While the ending makes this book well worth reading, I found it to be more akin to an episode of the X-Files than Peretti's earlier works "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness." I much prefer the earlier books and hope that Peretti will return to the ongoing battles of Tal and the Hosts of Heaven in his future works.

Summary: It was great!!
Review: This is the first of Peretti's books that I have read, nad I think it was great. It did take a while to really get to the spiritual part of it. I am 10 and normally I dont like books that long but I read it in 4 days. I think that if a 10 year old could apprecialte it that much others could too.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Well written but takes too long to bring God into it.
Review: After reading "This Present Darkness" I was a little dissapointed in "The Oath". While the story was a good one, I was expecting an earlier appearance of Christianity. I feel the author waited too long for spiritality, and the Heavenly hosts and the dark side to come in. In fact, there hen I first started reading I thought that maybe it wasn't a Christian novel at all.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Not too original
Review: I found The Oath to be too long. It was very difficult to finish the story. I didn't find the story spiritually up-lifting, unlike other Christian books. On the horror genre side, the story wasn't too original.I am a fan of horror stories and I heard The Oath was very good. Unfortunately the story didn't raise any hair on the back of my neck.
