Rating: Summary: Excellent book. I couldn't put it down. Review: Frank Peretti's book,The Oath, is a wonderful story written in a somewhat allegorical format. He kept me up into the early morning hours reading as fast as I could to find out what happened next. I would recommend this book to any adult. The material is much too intense for younger readers.
Rating: Summary: this book rocks Review: This book is an awsom book that you can't put down halfway through it! It is a terrifying book from a Christian perspective. one of the best books i have ever read.
Rating: Summary: I've never read better Review: This is a great book! It shows the importance of keeping faults out of our lives and focusing on what is important. I have never read a book that gets you believing that you are actually viewing what is going on, but this one really does!
Rating: Summary: i loved this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: actually my sister and my mom read it first and my sister said i would love it. and i did. although some parts i thought were kind of gruesome, and some were sad, i still loved it and i'm now reading it again!
Rating: Summary: "The most incredible book I've ever read!" Review: Frank Peretti's "The Oath" is awesome! The way he interweaves his characters together and gives bits of information which relate to the story is incredible. He has a skill in writing I'd love to have. His other novels (the ones that shoppers who bought "The Oath" also got) are just as incredible. He intermingles Christian values with page-turning fiction! I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Accurate perception with a multitude of symbolism Review: I have read all of Frank Peretti's books. Every single tim eI have found them hard to get me intriqued in the begining. I usually pick it up, then put it down only to pick it back up again months later. After that I find them impossible to put down. His books all seem to take me approx. 50 - 100 pages or so to really get into them. After reading his latest "The Oath" (Which took only about 50 pages) I realize it is because of the intriqacy involved in weaving such a novel. That amount of time is needed to lay the foundation for the rest of the plot. The Oath is a powerful statement of the power of sin in an evil vile world. I am grateful that we as followers of Jesus are set apart from the rest of the world and do not have to be apart of a sinful world. At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue confess He is Lord. Respectfully, Tina
Rating: Summary: Dragons are alive and well and living in Hyde Valley Review: Although this book is very different to his 'darkness' books it is very entertaining. The mystery of the origin of the deaths in Hyde valley is kept hidden until the last minute. Readers should stick with it to the end to gain the jewel of 'enlightenment'. That part of any good story that makes you think about it time and again. This story makes you think about the things that motivate people and live in their hearts. Although for me, the ending was a bit too abrupt, maybe that is what Frank Peretti intended, to make you think and/or wonder. Still a very good read that I would recommend to anyone that likes a bit of horror.
Rating: Summary: Peretti did it again :-) Review: Mr. Peretti took me on a spiritual getaway with this book. "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness" were so impressive that I was initially doubtful about "The Oath." I didn't want the book to end, yet I could hardly wait to reach the last page!
Rating: Summary: Peretti Hits Another One Out of the Ball Park! Review: "The Oath" doesn't waste any time getting into the story. From the first page, we are pulled into the dark and mysterious world of Hyde River. Peretti keeps the action boiling and adds to the story by making it an allegory, which, when revealed, hits readers hard with the power of its message. While some might compain about the "R-rated" violence, it makes the allegorical message all the more potent. The only two faults I could find with the book were that some scenes got a little too sensual, and the ending seemed, to me, a bit of a cop-out.
Rating: Summary: Some of the best Christian fiction I've ever read. Review: I would describe this book as Stephen King only good. It is scarier than King, more intriguing than King, and has a better climax than anything King has considered. Plus it is not bogged down by vile language and has a serious Christian overtone without being "preachy." It is a good book for those considering their faith without having decided. It is a real page-turner that will keep your interest until the last line (when Peretti leaves you with plenty to think about). Just read it!
