Summary: A Great Christian Monster Story
Review: this is the first frank peretti book i have read yet, and it is fantastic. granted that i love dragons anyway, this book made me appreciate peretti's work. the oath has inspired me to read other books by him. he has to be the best christian writer in america today. i recommend this book to anyone, christian or not. it's a ride on its own!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best book I have ever read.. it is what Christians need
Review: Frank Perettie is the best author I have ever read, and he has prooved himself again in The Oath. I hear that it is becomming a movie, and if it is, it would be rated R (which is good, because most Christian books would only get you to a PG rating... not good for teen readers).

It is the type of book that if you are a non-believer, it will still keep you reading till the end of the book, and maybe even get you to read it twice.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An attention getter from the word go
Review: Although a little far fetched in places, this book grabs you and keeps you reading from the first page. This book has great entertainment value and is well worth the read. You can't go wrong especially if you like suspense.

Summary: Be Sure That Your Sin Will Find You Out!
Review: The Oath will take you on an incredible journey into the depths of depravation and sin. This book is very dark and foreboding.... which is exactly what author Frank Peretti intended! I must admit that I was taken off-guard by the book's darkness, until I realized Mr. Peretti's vision. An allegorical tale of the effects of sin on the human heart, this book achieves its purpose! It firmly implanted in my heart an abhorrance for sin, and a deep realization of how sin craftily works its way into our hearts, deceptively seducing us into a love affair with death.

Mr. Peretti could easily crank out a multitude of This Present Darkness clones...instead of riding the formula for success, he has challenged himself and creatively expanded his repertoire... I believe Mr. Peretti seeks God wholeheartedly before attempting to write each book, and it shows. The Body of Christ needs to renew their hatred of sin.

I have loved *all* of Mr. Peretti's books, and cannot wait for The Visitation!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A disappointing follow up to "Prophet"
Review: After having read the Darkness series (The premise of which Mr. Peretti attributes divine intervention) and Prophet, I found Oath left me a bit flat. A master storyteller, Mr. Pereti once again is able to draw his readers into the mind, spirit and emotions of his characters. The spiritual overtones seem to be a bit lacking in this work however. That, I believe, contributes to stunted character growth and an unsatisfying conclusion. Had Mr. Peretti strengthened the character's spiritual growth in an order of magnitude approaching Prophet, the book may have been more satisfying. Had he dropped the spiritual overtones, this may have been a nice monster story.

Summary: VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING!!!!
Review: I found this book wonderful! I picked it up at the store and thought this is not a christian book, then I noticed the publisher. (I love mystery/suspense novels)And so I bought it. Now I can't wait to read more of his books. GREAT BOOK that really makes you think!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great if you like mystery
Review: This book by Frank Peretti is great for any reader. The story is wrote in a way to keep you on the edge of your seat during all of the book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Peretti affirms again: Spirituality IS part of reality.
Review: "The Oath" became a great book when I finally understood the meaning of the story as a whole. It took some time for me to settle on my view of Peretti's concept for this book. (I know, I'm slow!) When understood, though, the direct relationship between physical and spiritual sickness is conveyed masterfully by Peretti. For me, (after my light bulb finally came on!) I remembered events from the beginning of the book and they were revealed very clearly later. "The Oath" is one of the more memorable books I've read compared to the other Peretti books. Overall, this is a great novel and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is considering one of Peretti's books.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Horror, Mystery, with a Christian moral base
Review: Peretti is a master at the use of allegory to explain complex biblical concepts. Although his theology may not be exactly right, it is close enough for the average person to get the idea. If you like Stephen King's "The Needful Things", you will probably like this book. It explains how evil works in each of us, and what it does to us. Also, Peretti is a master at the "teaser" style of writing that makes you read "just one more chapter" and stay up half the night to finish the book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Thumbs Up!!!
Review: The Oath will keep you on the edge of your seat just wanting to know what is going to happen next. It is very suspensefull. If you've read and liked an other novels by Peretti, then this one will really reel you into his works. I highly recommend this novel to anyone!!
