Rating: Summary: Scary, spine-tingling, edge of your seat reading! Review: This book was so scary that it gave me bad dreams. Every little creak I heard in my house while reading it made me think something was going to get me. The way Mr.Peretti described the possible consequences of sin, especially adultry, couldn't be more on-target metaphorically.
Rating: Summary: Frank P. is awesome Review: My dad read ths book and he loved it now he's bying all Frank Perreti's books(two at a time). I'm going to read it too when I get some time in.
Rating: Summary: Not up to the level of Testament Review: After Testament, I wanted to read more titles by Peretti. For Christian readers, there is scant positive spiritual dimension to the characters and I found the book to be slow-paced.
Rating: Summary: You'll need a night light... Review: I read The Oath as a follow-up to The Visitation, and I must say I was surprised. The Oath is very much like a Koontz meets The Bible type of novel. I was completely scared to sleep without a light on the first few nights! It's very scary, but it does have a great message. It's not nearly as believable as Visitation, but for an exciting read, this is it.
Rating: Summary: A great thriller, and non-offensive, too Review: The Oath was one of the best books I've read in a long time. It was as exciting as it could get, and it had its moments of disappointment, but also its moments of great triumph. Everyone should read this book. I usually read other genres, but this one would be liked by anyone. If you like Frank Peretti, and especially the fact that he doesn't put a bunch of needless trash in his books, you will also like Death of an Eagle, by Kirby Jonas. It is exciting from the very beginning, but he keeps it clean so that anyone can read it. These two authors are in different categories, but both are well worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Excitement From the Beginning Review: The best thriller yet. One I just couldn't put down. It's a story of horror and suspense, and also how to put total faith in God. It's definitly a "must get."
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Review: Frank Peretti has really hit the mark on this book-I say it's one of his best. It's bone-chilling, scary, and interesting all rolled into one book. You want to keep reading and reading and never stop.
Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Novel Review: Bone chilling, nerve gripping suspense. It literally kept me on the edge of my seat. Frank Peretti has a wonderful gift to see life in such a spiritual ream. From the first page I too was running with the characters. With Mr. Peretti's novels you never know till the very last page his transitions.A must read for spiritual warfare.
Rating: Summary: Exciting, but too dark for a Christian Novel! Review: I enjoyed reading this book quite a bit, but it reminded me too much of the enjoyment I used to feel reading Clive Barker, Stephen King, and Dean Koontz. I felt like I was sinning by reading it. I don't like being attracted to darkness, but I enjoyed Peretti's first two books, and the Prophet so much, that I thought I'd give it a try. It is not for the reader seeking only purity and light. All that said, it was a good read, and very hard to put down. It showed that faith in God will help you with your sin problem, but I agree with some of the other reviews written here, that the Gospel wasn't really presented, and I felt that it should have been. Lighten up a bit Mr Peretti. You are obviously very gifted, and I can see your childhood fascination with monsters evident in your work. I was the same way as a child, but I want to remember Phil 4:8 (KJV) "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Rating: Summary: What's to keep secret? Review: This book had good descriptions and agonizing cliffhangers that wrenched my gut and left me breathless. The plot is far fetched but when dealing with the paranormal, isn't it all far-fetched? Otherwise, duh, it wouldn't be PARAnormal, it would just be normal. Great Stuff and a great read!
