Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: Let me start out by saying if you are a fan of Steven King you will love this book. I have never read any of Frank Peretti's books before, but after reading this one I want to go out and buy every book he's written! My review really doesn't do any justice to this book it was that great! I love the way he uses words anyone can understand, and the way he writes really grabs you, and makes you believe you are right there in the story along with the characters. My dad bought This Present Darkness, and Piercing The Darkness, a long time ago so now i'm reading them too. Buy the book I know you will love it.
Rating: Summary: Sin eats you alive Review: Excellent book. The "Oath" shows how sin can literally eat you alive. I have since wondered about myself and check for the dreaded "black stain". It was a wonderful book and I hope that Frank continues to write in the way he did for it and "This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness". He has a way of letting the people know how to fight this battle. I am with the other person that said God has given him a gift. Thank you Frank for the life changing books you have written.
Rating: Summary: Very Descriptive! Review: The Oath is one of the best novels I have read in a long time. It carries a good sense of how sin effects your life. If you are a person who is very limited on what they believe a Chritian book should portray or how it should read then this may not be the best choice for you. Personally the details and the way he describes the settings are fascinating. God has given Peretti a wonderful gift that he is willing to share with all of us. I definitly think you should give this book a chance. I garuntee you will not be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling, horror story! Review: This book is awesome. It's nothing like This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness, but it has a great plot and it's a very twisting story. It opens your eyes to how real sin is. This book is great!
Rating: Summary: Half of the details would have sufficed Review: There were too many intricate details in this 550 page book that didn't really add to the story --unlike his previous books, This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness. This book had a very different outcome and I had to really stretch to see the spiritual application. I love his writings but this book just didn't click with me like the rest.
Rating: Summary: couldn't put it down Review: When I first read this book, I couldn't put it down. It thrilled me. I loved it. Now, I have read it about 5 times and I still love it. The plot is unique and interesting. It keeps you guessing. The book is less focused on Christianity, but still contains a message. Very highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: It makes you think Review: I really liked this book. He makes it full of suspense and very interesting. I couldn't put it down untill I was through reading it. But what I liked most about this book was the way it showed what sin can do to you. Not literally, as it was shown in the book, but the way it can kill you. And also the way you don't realize that it can hook you and it is impossible to escape it without God.
Rating: Summary: A horror strory with a twist Review: The Oath is a story full of mystery and suspense. You never know what will happen next. The Oath also has a great Christian message, but you don't have to be a christian to enjoy the tightly packed plot of Frank Peretti's masterpiece. I didn't want the book to end; you probably won't either.

Rating: Summary: Plenty of Hollywood, little depth. Review: This grandiose tale has everything! The maniacal evil villain, the lunatic/wiseman/martyr, the smart cop/beautiful seductive woman, and the strong noble hero on his spiritual quest. The corpses along the way are to numerous to count. The pace of the novel is good, except for a few slow spots describing the landscape. It has all the firepower of "Die Hard," the slime of "Ghost Busters," the paper trail of "The Firm," the hurtling bulk of "Speed," and of course the godzilla-esque creature. The book is not a bad way to spend a day (and at 550 pages - it was a long day!) but I wouldn't do it twice. After reading "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness," I came to expect depth and breadth from Mr. Peretti's work. I admire his creative soul, and his ability to weave a tale. However, I would say this book has more breadth than depth.
