Rating: Summary: Great series Review: Once I started reading The Devil's Kiss, I couldn't put it down. Johnstone brings the age old battle of good vs. evil to a whole new level. Johnstone makes Sam Balon a man who everyone can look up to and want to try in their heart to be. I've never read a book that has defined a character of class and courage until now. I have read the other 2 books in the series and hopethat there is more then that. I highly recomend this to anyone who truely likes horror because this book will scare you into a whole new reality of the world.
Rating: Summary: Grade B shock schlock entertained. Review: The Devil's Kiss is nothing more than an all you can eat buffet of exploitation movie chestnuts (aka cliches) consisting of sex, gun fights, sex, fist fights, sex, monsters, and sex. You have to love how Johnstone describes in loving detail all those wretched, kinky sexual acts while trying to sound like he is actually condemning them. And I never knew that the forces of evil were so incredibly well endowed. You aren't fooling me one bit Mr. Johnstone. Each book in the series is almost endearing in its sloppy, simple minded kind of way. So bad its pretty darn good.
Rating: Summary: The Devils Kiss Review: The devils kiss is one of hundreds that I read. It's also one of the very few books that I couldn't put down once I started reading it. Most books start out kind of boring with the author getting his characters known. This book starts out with action from the start to end. Highly recomend.
Rating: Summary: The Devil's Kiss is the best horror book written. Review: The idea of living in a small town, where people are caring, and helpful, invites you into a world of peaceful living. Then, discovering some of your best friends worship the one who brings evil upon earth, converts non-violent Christians, into Killers for their God. While orgies and murder persists, the handful of Christians designate plans to rid the Satanists.
The final conflict makes one wonder, why the almighty God, chooses ones' drastic destiny. Why is Satan allowed to covet the earth? Sam, one lone minister, must kill the devil worshipers, to save humanity.
Unfortunately, he must die to persue it
Rating: Summary: I have read better Review: This book is ok. There are some entertaining moments but overall it is a mediocre book. The author uses this book to push his more radical, right wing Christian values. More sadly is that the book bashes gays, equaling them with satanic creatures. In Johnstone's worldview, gays cannot be real Christians. What is bad about this book is that the character development is flat. We never get to know the characters, nor do we get a chance to watch them develop as the "horror" builds. One of the best things about a good horror novel is that we get to see the characters respond to the horror and go through their inner demons as they battle the evil. There is not much of that here. People either are evil or good. There is no transition. Want real horror? Try Shirley Jackson, James Herbert, T.E.D. Kline (a rare but worthwhile find), Peter Straub and Robert R. McCammon.

Rating: Summary: Sensitive readers beware Review: This book was absolutely wonderful and reinforces the age old idea that good will triumph over evil. Of course the battle is not over at the end of the book. I am now half through the second in the series and enjoying it as much as the first. This book, Devil's Kiss, made me thankful that i am a Christian cause i sure would not want to be killed by Sam Balon.

Rating: Summary: i loved it Review: when my girlfriend in high school gave me this book i was hooked. Sam became a character that i wanted to be. During the next two years i have read the rest of the series. After over ten years i have searched for them and can never find them. If you have a chance to i recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Not for the faint of heart! Review: Wow! I am not a Christian but this was one hell of a book, no pun intended, concerning good and bad...God and the Devil and a persons will to do what they think is right. This book is blunt but depending on who is reading it can be looked at in many ways, I say this as a non-Christian person...and before you wonder, I am NOT a Satanist either. William Johnstone is VERY blunt in his writing, not something I am very fond of. He really leaves no room for YOUR imagination because he spells everything out for you plain as day. You can be sure to see EVERY detail in this book, and considering some of the events, I'm not sure if that is good or bad. Because of the graphic nature of this book I was unsure if I wanted to pick up the next one...of course I did. I'm not going to recommend this book...nor am I going to tell you NOT to read it. That will be a decision you have to make on your own based on reviews. I will warn you though, I can't stress the graphicness of this book enough, and it may just be the content that makes me say this.
