Rating: Summary: IT WAS A MUST FOR ANY TRUE BUFFY FAN!!! Review: IT WAS A GREAT BOOK FILLED WITH ACTION AND AVENTURE. IT WAS MY FAVERET NEXT TO THE GATEKEEPER TRILOGY!
Rating: Summary: A cool chiller! Review: Okay, I read Halloween Rain because I was curious about this Buffy person I keep hearing about. I must say that now I am a fan(of this book and the show). It is increadibly creepy and keeps the show's humor. The only problem I see is the authors' overuse of "teen speak" in the narrative part of the book. A little is pretty cool but this was a bit much. Anyway I recommend this book for any Buffy fans or anyone who wants a cool chill. Because this book will give you chills. The main villian in this thing'll make you think twice about walking through farm fields on a rainy night!
Rating: Summary: A good read Review: The best part of this story does not lie in the plot, but in the banter between characters. Also, scenes within the book have an amazing clarity. When reading this book, it's like you're watching the tv show. You can tell the authors had a lot of fun writing this via the internet, and the book is an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. I recommend this book to anyone who's been disapointed, so far, by the book series. It will restore your faith in all things Buffy.:-)
Rating: Summary: One of the scariest Review: The legend is that when it rains on Hallowe'en a scarecrow will come alive and slaughter anyone in sight. Of course Buffy doesn't believe it, but this is Sunnydale and legends have a nasty habit of coming true. Soon Giles uncovers the story of a past slayer who encountered the demon Samhain and lost. Now Buffy must face the Lord of Samhuinn and destroy his spirit forever...This was one of the scariest Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels I have read so far. The characterisation was very good and the plot was suspenseful and absorbing, although it did take a while to get going. The darkness and the rain creates a creepy, tense atmosphere that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. The second half of the book is far superior to the first and the battle between Buffy and Samhain provides a worthwhile climax. Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder have produced what are arguably some of the best Buffy books, and their other works include the Gatekeeper Trilogy, Immortal and Child of the Hunt. I recommend "Halloween Rain" to all fans of the series. ~Jenna~
Rating: Summary: Love it!!!! Review: The perfect spooky Buffy book to put a twist on Halloween. This is a must for fans!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Solid Effort by Golden and Holder Review: The story centers around Samhain, the spirit of Halloween. Legend has it that on Halloween night, if a Scarecrow is soaked with Halloween Rain, he will slaughter anyone who tresspasses on his field. This is considered a myth, but upon further research it's found to have some truth. Let me start off by saying Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder are great writers, and have a solid handle on the Buffy characters. The plot is interesting, dialogue good, and ending is exciting, if someone predictable. My problem with the books is that it's a Young Adult book, which really isn't a problem. Being a college student, I've come to expect more out of my books. But the writers cannot be blamed, because this is the audience to which they are writing. Some of the slang gets really annoying, and I do mean REALLY annoying. The dialouge sometimes resembles the movie Clueless. I think they went a bit far on the slang. Granted, this book does take place in the first season, where there was a bit more of this. But the writers of the show have wisely moved away from it. Overall this is a solid book, though it's very short. The plot, although interesting, is really a bit simplistic. I'd recommend it to any casual or die-hard Buffy fan. ...
Rating: Summary: This is a really good book and i injoy reading it. Review: This book is ace but it does have some strange words in it.Some of the words are difficult to read. This book is about a girl called Buffy and she is the slayer and a slayer has to protect the town and be sensible. She can only tell her best friends Xander and Willow about it.In this story it is halloween a scare crow comes to life and kills anyone in sight.I chose this book because I watch it on tv and I enjoyed it that much so I wanted a book but I wasn't aloud until I went to Manchester airport and I went in WHSMITHS and saw it so I begged for it and at the end I got it and since then I wanted aother one and up to now I've got three.Iwanted this serton one becaus I've seen a bit of it on tv and I thought it was good and when I saw it in waterstones I strait away got it and I got it and I got another one and its called The Harvest up to now I m' enjoying it up to now and I'm so a big fan of Buffy the vampire slayer.I hope I get some more Buffy the vampire books.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely thrilling Review: This book is awesome! It's the first Buffy book by the legendary duo Golden & Holder and it's more thrilling than the TV-serie. The story is all based on halloween and on Samhain, the lord of Samhuinn (now called Halloween). There are also interesting parts about a former Slayer: Erin Randall, who was killed by Samhain in the 17th century and her Watcher: Timothy Cassidy. I got totally absorbed by this book. It has great writing, superb characterization and an excellent plot. Giving it 5 stars, no less !
Rating: Summary: It's Raining Evil! Review: This book is excellent. I also love the tv show.
Rating: Summary: Okay book, The Harvest much better Review: This book is not very connected with the show. Even though the show has witty dialogue, this book does not. For the most part, the characters seem flaky and shallow. It did not have much vampiric stuff, just zombies and an evil pumpkin. There was also no Angel =(, and Cordelia was way meaner than the real one. Definately not up to the standards of the awesome show. Read this book if you are a die-hard fan, but if you're not, don't.
