Rating: Summary: It will haunt you for the rest of your life Review: "Abandon all hope , ye who enter", is what should be written on the first page of this book. Abandon all hope of ever ridding your mind of the horrific images conjured up in this collection of depraved short stories, Richard Christian Matheson's RED, a mere two pages, is the most horrifying, discusting, perversity of circumstance I have ever read in my life;I have never forgotton it and still have periodic nightmares where I wake up screaming and clawing at the air... And I'm not even going to think about "Crucifax Autumn" by Ray Garton, it makes my gag reflex violently act up..... If there is one book to buy, or fear it is "Splatter Punks"..
Rating: Summary: As the serpent said, "taste this & you will know evil..." Review: Even though I'm a Christian I love horror & mystery novels..this one is rough at times but as visceral as you can get...

Rating: Summary: Give me a break Review: First off, the stories aren't all that disgusting or disturbing. There are a couple that are pretty good, but overall it wasn't a good book. The fact that before each story proclaims for almost every single writer that they are not or do not want to be called a "splatterpunk" kills the book. There was only one writer in the whole book that the author was able to say was a splatterpunk. Every other writer said they don't wanna be called one or the author says they aren't one. For a book entitled Splatterpunks, there sure aren't many in it.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! (*BARF!*) ...IF you can stomach it..... Review: Many of theses tales made me uncomfortable with their depravity and sexual violence. However if you can stomach it -read on. The stories themselves are worth reading but some of the commentary in between is verbose. Not for entry level horror fans or the weak of heart.

Rating: Summary: Exploring the extreme illustrates the nature of evil Review: Splatterpunk is a brilliant and entertaining work, even if the subject appears distasteful. By exploring the extremes of violence, ignorance, gore and madness, the authors invariably relate those traits as predelictions of the same kind of character, and while arguably desensitizing the reader to the horrors they portray -- a seemingly necessary step to illustrate the point -- they paint a portrait of evil that inevitably requires the purpetrator of that evil to be ignorant, mentally defective or insane. Despite other reviewer's claims that the stories are too graphic, (one in particular is truly difficult to stomach) I found myself frequently laughing at the characters, despite the near obscenity of the material, merely because their behavior was so abberant, so extreme, as to be beyond my comprehension. Yet, the editor and the authors succeed: by exploring the very limits of groteque behavior, and forcing us into contrasting it with everyday life -- if only as an escape -- we can gain some insight into the overwhelming kindness present in the average person, and the triviality his sins, and know that true evil, one of groteque violence, can only be perpetrated by the mad. Splatterpunk invites you into the morque for the autopsy -- only by watching it yourself will you really know the truth.
Rating: Summary: Excellent gross out horror Review: This anthology is not for everyone, but it was a great way for me to discover some wonderful authors. I've read it at least 4 times, and I never tire of it. This is by far one of the best anthologies I've ever read.
And I've read quite a few... :)
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time Review: This book features many stories yet only maybe six or seven are worth reading. And of those only about three are anything special. Most of the stories have no plot or character development and are just pointless. I was so disappointed by the quality of the stories that I found myself begging for more graphic violence or sex.The stories are neither graphic nor scary. Complete waste of time.
Rating: Summary: Like a white hot needle in your eye! Review: This book never flinches, never falters, and never lets up. These brave writers put upon paper the thoughts that you are afraid to think... You will not find any monsters here nor any demons but the demons that exist within us all. Remember in Hellraiser II, the guy in the asylum with the straight razor? That's nothing compared to the terrible things in this book.
