Rating: Summary: A beautiful Night World romance! Review: I've read practically all of L.J. Smith books except a couple of Night Worlds, Night of the Solstice (RARE: Out of print), and Heart of Valor which is also (RARE: Out of print.) Hmmm... you can say I'm a true L.J. fan. Anyway, this story was very well-written, and the characters in this story are perfect. Poppy's brother seems so... protective over her. Poppy is so lucky to have James all to herself. I'm so jealous. I'd name all the guys I like from the Night World. Ash, Thierry, Delos, and James are my favorite guys from the Night World. I only like Damon from the Vampire Diaries. I'm infatuated with Julian in the Forbidden Game trilogy. I like Gabriel from Dark Visions. The Secret Vampire has to be one of the best Night World books I read from L.J. Smith. I recommend it to people who likes to read about night creatures/teenage romance. Toodles. :D
Rating: Summary: A great book by a great author Review: Secret Vampire is just one awesome book in a great series. The Night World series is one of my favorites, and anyone considering reading it should read Secret Vampire first because it is the very first book in the series. I love how it's not just blood and horror, but all the books in Night World are true romance stories. I suggest reading these books slowly because the newest book, Strange Fate, still hasn't been released. I would also reccomend all of LJ Smith's other books. I have read all but one and own all but two and they are all terrific.
Rating: Summary: First in a series of great books Review: First off, I have read all but 4 of L. J. Smith's books, and so I can tell you, she is a great writer! Secret Vampire is the first in the Night World series, and it helps explain some things. (It's also cool seeing some characters like Ash before they met their soulmates!)As you all know, Poppy, energetic, happy Poppy, is diagnosed with pancretic cancer, which means she has about a month to live, which will be spent in unbearable pain. Then, late at night, her best friend and secret crush, James visits her, and tells her something she'd never expect - he is a vampire, and he wants to change her, and therefore, save her life. Poppy, of course, is shocked. She eventually takes up James' offer, and therefore, is pulled into the Night World. Only one problem - James broke both rules of the Night World 1) Never tell a human about the Night World, and 2) Never fall in love with a human. Not only that, you can't change a human w/o special permission, and so now, both Poppy and James are in danger. What to do? Though this isn't the best of the Night World series, it is still great. Definitely recommend it for anyone who likes horror, romance, and a little bit of both. Really great!!
Rating: Summary: Night World Series Review: I think that this series is great I own all nine books, but the only bad thing about it is if you buy all 9 books you won't be able to finish the series because the other books i have no idea whether they were even been published yet, which is a real bummer. I have been waiting 2 years to finish this series and I have been searching around my state and other book vendors trying to find the last volumes. L.J. Smith is an excellent writer but I wish I could just find the other books!
Rating: Summary: A great start for the Night World series Review: On the first day of summer, Poppy finds out she has a type of cancer. No one can help her. Except her best friend James when he shows up in her hospital room and tells her his secret that can save her. He's a vampire. Then Poppy's brother ruins EVERYTHING! Will Poppy die before James can finish what he started? Lisa Jane Smith has made another fantastic series, starting with this one. When I pick up one of her books, I cant put it down. I have read almost all her books, I just need the out-of-print ones and a couple other ones I cant find.
Rating: Summary: good...but I've read better Review: I like this series just fine, the plots are actually pretty good but there's something about these books that just doesn't quite click. The stories are somethimes totally cheesy and the characters are quite weak but I can't help liking them. My pack and I agree that this is the best out of the series, but we are dedicated to another...The Anita Blakes. If anyone wants a good read and doesn't mind a little blood..., those are you books.
Rating: Summary: An amazing start to the most amazing series I have ever read Review: My aunt bought me this book as a present for easter and within two nights I had finished it and desperate to read more.L.J Smith is such a great writer, that I couldn't put the book down. Since then I have started reading "The vampire trioligies" and have found that they are equally captivating. They kept me reading long into the night! Secret vampire is about cute elfish Poppy with her little freckles. She finds out that she has cancer and is going to die.Only her best friend James can save her.He confides in her and admits that he is a vampire.Poppy has knew ever since she was young that she and James were ment to be together.Together wither Poppy's twin brother Phil, they arrange Poppy's death and Poppy wakes up as a vampire. Can she be with James for all eternity,or will James's very persuasive and deadly couisin Ash play a hand in Poppy's destruction. All is revealed in this enthraulling book! If you haven't yet read this book, read it now!Utter brilliance from a amazing author!
Rating: Summary: A great Beginning to a great series Review: I thought this book was a great beginning to a great series. Poppy is dying, and she most likely won't get well. There is only one way to cure her illness, and James is one of the few to do it. But if he dose he will be breaking one of the rules of the Night World. But by falling in love with her, he has broken an even stronger one. I reccomend this book to fans of Gothic romances. You can't help fall in love with Poppy, James and Phillip.
Rating: Summary: Secret Vampire, Secret Obsession... Review: Secret Vampire remains one of Lisa Jane Smiths's fineststories. All of her books remain very intrigueing and verywell-written! I have to rate this book with 5 stars because it was on of the best books I have ever read by her. If you haven't yet try reading some of her other writing; you'll enjoy every book more than the last.
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: This book brings to life a whole world of vampires, witches and other creatures of the night. Its a wonderful start to the Night World series, which is all very good. I thought this book was the best in the series, mainly because I could idenify with the main character, Poppy, who is faced with a terminal illness. If you like reading adventure and horror don't bother with junk like Point Horror, read this!
