Rating: Summary: One of the worst books... Review: ...I have ever read. First and foremost, the author has never been to college, maybe community college. Or she would have had a more accurate description. The book is written for fourteen year old girls but she adds in cheesy sex scenes, so there goes the teen category. The characters are flat and dull and show the authors own dislike for girls who are different then her. One could of rented a movie from the horror section from a movie store and got their money's worth then buying this drivel. The only good reviews, I see are probably from her friends.
Rating: Summary: Give this series a chance Review: Don't just go by the reviews already given. I was turned onto Tamara with an earlier title 'Haunted'. This series isn't quite as good but still a fun read. Not sure what kind of scholars are reviewing this, but Tamara combines decent horror descriptions with humor. I laughed quite a bit at this series, which is one thing I enjoy about her books. Yes it may seem juvenile at times, but so what. She tells a solid story without giving Ann Rice detail. Charachters were easy to follow. And I didn't feel cheated at the end. Give her a chance.
Rating: Summary: Book For Teens? Review: I am very disappointed in this book! It seems it was written for a target audience of teen girls. The plot, or lack there of, was very juvenille and with little substance. I believe that the author was attempting to relive her college years, or possibly her fantasy college years. I have read other books by Tamara Thorne that were much better. The frightening thing is I see she is going to have 2 more books in the series. Don't waste your money on this one.
Rating: Summary: One of the Worst Books I've Ever Read Review: I bought this book through the [local store], so I was expecting a good read. I was so wrong. This book has no redeeming features whatever. It would be a teen book (and not fodder for the [local store]) if not for the explicit sex. It gives no clear picture of the university, supposedly a California Ivy. Eve, the heroine, is poorly drawn and not terribly sympathetic. She has no ambition other than to become head cheerleader and marry well. Kendra, her roommate, is a far more interesting character. There is no motivation for the Fata Morgana's choice of Eve for doom. Even the cheerleading tryouts (for a major university!) are a farce, as is the size of the squad. Do not waste your money on this book.

Rating: Summary: why???? Review: I purchased this book thinking it would be a) scary, b) adult, and c) interesting. Instead it was a) lame, b) juvenile, and c) boring as heck. Unfortunately for me, I got sucked into the contrived movie-of-the-week storyline and didn't want to leave it unfinished, so I read the whole thing...only to discover that I would need to read the other two books in the series to find out the end result of this one. At least that would be my guess, since this book ends in what seems the middle of the story. Believe me, it's in 14 point font because anything less would have made it a pamphlet. I agree with other reviewers that this read like a Nancy Drew book peppered with sexual situations. It was like seeing a PG-13 rated teen movie as an adult. I was very sad that I wasted my time reading this when I have much better books sitting untouched at my bedside. Don't waste your time on this one, unless you like to read stories that sound like they were written by 6th graders.

Rating: Summary: The Sorority : Eve - SPECTACULAR!!! Review: Once again a job well done by Tamara Thorne!! She sets up the characters wonderfullly and throws us into their lives instantaniously. We are presented with the 3 girls of the trilogy at the beginning of the book, to show their connection. Then the focus is on Eve and how she views her experience with the Gamma Eta Pi sorority. This is the second book of Thorne's I have read and I absolutely love her style. She knows what to tell us to get hooked and not want to put the book down. I ended up reading this one in about 5 hours!!!! I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series MERILYNN. As a side note, Thorne has done an excellent job in researching sorority life and traditions. While not all sororities are the same, some similar "lingo" is present and she has captured this. It made me feel I was back in college rushing my sorority all over again.
Rating: Summary: Good Nasty Fun Review: Tamara Thorne has been writing horror for years, but her work is new to this reviewer. EVE is the first part of the `Sorority Trilogy', which is being released on a monthly basis. The next two books in the series will be entitled MERILYNN and SAMANTHA. The lead character in this book, Eve, wants to join the elite Gamma Eta Pi sorority at isolated Greenbriar University, despite the frightening supernatural experience she had as a young child in the area. This short novel opens with this traumatic event, then jumps eight years into the future. We find out how the strange history of the area has shaped Eve and the sorority she wishes to be part of, a sisterhood that harbors dark secrets of its own. To make things even more interesting, the two girls who shared Eve's experience as a child at cheerleader camp, Merilynn and Samantha, have come back into her life; Merilynn to join the sorority, Samantha already accepted as a sister--two reminders of a something Eve wishes to forget. The majority of the book deals with how Eve and her new friend Kendra try to fit in, and understand Greenbriar University and the Gamma Eta Pi sorority. The vibe of this book reminds me a bit of television's `Buffy the Vampire Slayer' i.e. young people against forces of darkness. But instead of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we have Eve the Cheerleader. Instead of Sunnydale High, there is Greenbriar University. You'll meet odd teachers and ancient ghosts, handsome football players and evil witches; you'll discover a sunken town beneath a reservoir, and a spooky woods and its evil ghost. And of course the deadly sorority. EVE has humor, sex, drama and scares in equal measure, and never gets heavy; the pages fly by. If you don't mind a predominately female cast, then you should find this book good fun. Unfortunately, it ends with a cliffhanger, and I for one want to know what happens next. We'll find out in MERILYNN.
