Summary: not bad
Review: this is the first DK'S book i've read.but not the first horror book.some passages were scary and the story stood on its legs.BUt the ending was horrible.not scary just predictable.what i did like was when i could feel leland's pain.i could see what he saw. so,you can say it was good, but "could be better " thriller

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Below Standard
Review: This is the typical crazed killing machine after the heroine and the child. This theme is replayed in quite a number of his books. Read only if you are a true fan.

Summary: One of Dean Koontz's Best!
Review: This is the very first Dean Koontz book I read. I absolutely loved it through and through. It held my attention all the way up to the last word. If you like suspense and a good thriller, read this book, it's excellent!!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Anticlimactic
Review: This novel started off just fine. I was quite interested in the story and quite anxious to follow it along.

The characters were interesting; the plot was quite entertaining and suspenseful. In his usual style, Dean Koontz kept me wondering about what was going to happen.

However, the ending was so disappointing. I felt robbed of my time and energy. Maybe I have been spoiled by reading his more recent works first, but the ending left me staring at the page.

Definitely not one of Koontz's better novels. He does have many more satisfying works.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A Good Quick Read
Review: This was my first Dean Koontz book. I really enjoyed the book and found it very quick and easy to read. The book focuses mainly four different characters, and ties up the loose ends as you go along. This book held my attention, and I will definitely read more of Koontz' stuff in the future. If your looking for a good thriller that's easy to read, look no further!

Summary: Shattered Expectations
Review: This was the first Koontz book I have read and was somewhat disappointed. I did enjoy the rising tension as an unknown person was following Alex and Colin. And the feeling of rejection Alex experienced was an interesting tactic by the author. But there were unresolved subplots, and the ending was somewhat abrupt and predictable. I'll probably read another Koontz book but will seek recommendations first.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A simple yet highly enjoyable thriller
Review: What I love about Dean Koontz is his great versatility and persistence in not conforming to one specific genre. Shattered is simple yet short and highly entertaining. The bonding between the 2 main characters, Alex and Colin, is quite poignant and realistic. Alex's challenge to conquer his fears (especially since he is about to start a family with Courtney and Colin)is a theme which is discussed quite nicely as well. The inclusion of Leland, a sympathetic villain (as other reviewers have commented on) combines to provide a solid, realistic, stinging dollop of a story.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Simple yet effective
Review: While this novel ends up being very suspenseful, the ending is simply one of the most disappointing in the history of Koontz. Short and too the point, don't read this book for a good ending, read it for the sheer mid-book suspense.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Another winner
Review: With a great premise for the story, can Koontz pull it off? Stuck in a car with a young boy traveling across country with a crazed killer following you, closing in...And pull it off Koontz does.

I enjoy reading Koontz for several reasons, the least of all being that he scares the pants off of me! While the plots may not be very realistic, they terrify you, fill you with suspense & dread and they probably keep you up and night either reading or afraid of the dark!

Shattered isn't his best book, that's why I only gave it 4 stars, however, it is a good book. Most of what Koontz touches seems to turn to gold and this book is no different.
