Rating: Summary: Awesome book!! Review: A unique (read the book and find out why) student at a prestigious and ultra-elite medical school begins to suspect that it has darker motives than its public facade of philanthropy. Dark Fantasy writer, creator of the Adversary Cycle, and practicing MD F. Paul Wilson surpasses medical thriller novelist Robin Cook's entire output with seeming little effort. Not once does the book seem unbelievable. I give it my highest recommendation.

The Select
By: F. Paul Wilson
Filled with suspense, thrills and science, this suspense fiction book, The Select, by F. Paul Wilson is a book about aspiring young med-students who are entering one of the country's most prestigious med-school, The Ingraham. In the beginning Quinn, and her friend Tim do not really suspect that anything suspicious is going on behind the scenes in this college, but soon later they learn that the school has been committing a medical conspiracy. For learning this, they will either become a part of this research, which is on burn therapy, or they will die. This book keeps the reader in suspense as he learns how Quinn and Tim are able to outwit the unsuspecting school officials and co-conspirators.
The thing that I found to be the best part of this novel was how the author was able to keep the reader on the edge of his or her seat. This was good because most people would put the book down if nothing happened after Quinn and Tim got caught, but an intertwined plot always kept me on the edge and convinced me to continue reading until I was finished. The biggest part of this "on the edge reading" was when the students were caught in their discovering of the conspiracy, they did not end the book just by the students turning the Doctors in, but they had a whole roundabout plot where the Doctors were trying to capture the students and make it seem as though they had just left the college campus.
The thing that I found to my biggest dislike was the graphic gross-out description. The author used much more description in some places than were necessary. For instants, the biggest areas where he used this were when he was describing the people who were victims in the Burn Ward. He described everything about the people right down to the holes which were cut in the gauze so that they could see, and how the holes looked. As well, when Tim is caught in placed in the Burn Ward, it describes the burns which were inflicted on him, and how they looked. It was completely gory, unless you knew that it was coming.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good suspense story, and wants to be constant left on the edge and waiting for more. I would also recommend this book to somebody who has trouble continuing to read a book that they have started because once this book is started, the reader will not want to put it down until they have successfully finished it

Rating: Summary: Encapsulates the reader into subliminal entrapment! Review: F. Paul Wilson delivers in this explosive medical thriller as only he can. From the very first page I could NOT put this one down. As a layman of the medical profession from med school to full practice, I was entranced without feeling bombarded by psychotic jargon. The plot begins simplistic with Quinn and Tim previewing, then entering, the most prestigious medical school in the world offering a free ride to "the select" would-be doctors but finding that The Inghram is a bit more than just that. There is no denying the sense of the horrific, potential realism of this storyline. What a tribute from a brilliant writer!
Rating: Summary: A BOOK that HITS the BULL'S EYE! Review: From cover to cover F.Paul Wilson's explosive bestseller THE SELECT was so easy to imagine without kindergarten vocabulary. For a first time in a long time, no novel has kept me literally "hooked" to discovering what will happen next. It's full of mystery and suspense. Very thought-provoking, yet easy to understand. I highly recommend it. I may even look more into his other works! Thank you Wilson! -- By the way, is there a film on this book?
Rating: Summary: The Select Review: I came across a gem when I purchased this book at a thrift store. Wow!! What a medical thriller. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. You never know where F. Paul Wilson will take you. This is a great book--a guaranteed suspense read.

This secret contains manipulating the students thinking with electric rays, put under their beds. Quinn doesn't know where he is and starts looking for him. After a while she got to know by her own researches that he is still in the Ingraham. With many thrillng actions F. Paul Wilson starts to confuse the reader and you really have to pay attention what happened earlier to follow along. It has a good end, Quinn informed the police and Matt who helped braking the long dark secrets of the Ingraham. Tim who ended in the hospital because he go in fight when he escaped and Quinn achieved what they wanted: Bring the truth to the people. The title "The Select" has many backgrounds with the novel which you will only understand after reading the book. It starts with the select of the fifty students. I think this book is very good and interesting. It differs from other crimenovels and it never becomes boring. It is really a detailed book. Some informations are similar to own experiences and some you learn new. When I first read the topic I couldn't imagine how filled with information this book is, it seems to be like a normal criminal problem but it is surprising more than that and makes you reading and reading because of all thse changes and new actions. I would say you shouldn't read this novel under fourteen years because of some details and specific descriptions. I liked it a lot and it was more interesting for me after reading than before, just knowing a little bit of context what seems after finishing like no information. I was really surprised about this book, because with the little informatio on the back you can't imagine what all happens inside!
