Rating: Summary: 1 Star too genrerous Review: 1- The quality of the physical book is abyssmal (newsprint paper that collects skin oils) 2- Obviously the author has not done his research! 3- Using Philmont interest web-serves for self-promotion is dispicable! 4- Waste of money, even for a used copy (and there should be pl;enty of used copies with owners wanting to divest themselves of such shlock). 5- Buy a book written by someone actually close to Philmont ( the Chatterly's or Stevens' volumesimm ediately come to mind). 6- For all other folklorists: do some real research, supported by the people involved; before attempting to foist a product on the market!
Rating: Summary: Go Scouts!! Review: I am enjoying re-reading Riders in the Sky. Coming from a family with a long Scouting history, this just adds more scouting stories to the collection. Some of my favorite memories of my dad are hearing his Scout stories and ghost stories around a camp fire. Riders in the Sky has a special place in my book collection. Thanks Michael Connelly for this interesting, and rather different, book. Not only history involved, but action, suspense and putting your imagination to work. Even though we are a Scout related family, I did not know about Philmont Scout Ranch until I read this book. See, always learning something new!! wkp
Rating: Summary: not that good Review: Mr. Connelly's self-professed "research" was all of 3 weeks, and it shows. The stories do not reflect the wealth of stories at Philmont. Additionally, when did Penitentes give up their centuries old legacy of Hispanic heritage and become Native Americans? Too many errors and slipshod production make this book one not worth having. There's a far better volume published in 2003 by a former staff member.

Rating: Summary: Fun Reading Review: This book covers a vast array of Philmont ghost stories. I don't know whether they are true or made-up, but the book reminded me of a Urraca campfire.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!! Review: This book is fantastic full of great stories from real life experiences!! A+++
Rating: Summary: Be Aware Review: This book is only 105 pages long (not the stated 128 pages); the type is very large and it is printed on cheap paper (nice cover though). You'll have to be really interested in Philmont if you want to believe you've gotten your money's worth. good stories.
