Review: There is an abundance of action and globe-trotting in this book, which is admired for introducing a female chracter who can kick butt with the best of male heroes. The plot is tired, but the action scenes are adventurous. For a science fiction book with a bit more kick and complex characters, try "The Subnorms".

Summary: A GREAT NOVELIZATION OF THE FEATURE FILM!
Review: This book is great. It is just like the movie, only with a little more dialouge. There are even parts before Lara's dad died telling how he tried to stop the evil. The deleted scenes only able to watch on the DVD are in this book, and I thought that was great! The action level seems a little less than the movie. The book seems to just speed by the action and to the point. I didn't really like that factor. If you liked the movie, read the novel, it is GREAT!

Review: This book was just.. WOW!! It was way better then the movie, b/c the movie can only put a certain amount of scenes, but the book you get it all! i loved all the stuff between lara and alex, if you are a lara/alex fan this book is definatly for you!!

Review: This is a great and exciting book i couldent put in down till i read the whole thing. If you loved Tomb Raider the movie you will love this book. It helps you understand the movie better even if you allready seen it.

Review: This is a great movie novelization unlike most. In this case, the book is much better than the movie, which in some novelizations, is not the case at all. The writer actually has some talent that made me want more. When the second book came out, I bought it right away. A very good book for any scifi action lover! A really great read! Five Stars!

Summary: Nice companion to the movie
Review: This is a really interesting companion book to the movie. It includes information on all sorts of things from the major characters and their backgrounds, interviews with the actors, and chapters on set design and location stories. The interview with Angelina Jolie is quite fascinating and shows in part her own complexity and depth, and it's quite enjoyable reading about the other actors such as Noah Taylor and Daniel Craig (Bryce and Alex respectively) and hearing how they view their characters.Beautiful pictures (although clearly marketed to the boys with a few too many close up pics of Lara C), especially the ones of Cambodia, make this an attractive book, and the history of Lara Croft (originally Laura Cruise) from idea to computer game heroine to big screen personality is again a good feature of the book. Admittedly, this movie companion book falls flat in the face of other movie books such as the ones for "Moulin Rouge" and "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", both of which are beautiful examples of how to give viewers something to remember the movie by, something to really capture the essence of a movie. This one doesn't do it, with no screenplay (not much of one to start with anyways) and not much thought put into it, although to be fair the essence of this movie is probably a couple of guns and a skimpy wardrobe; not the easiest things to market in book form! The best part about this book is that it hints at what the screenplay fails to do: it gives some idea of what the producers might have been hoping to achieve with the movie. Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie or I wouldn't have bought this book, but there's no doubt the storyline in the movie is thin and at times utterly confusing and odd. This book by containing a few more of the ideas and storyline behind "Tomb Raider", really points you towards a more complex storyline, one that actually makes sense. But Angelina Jolie's comments alone are worth the price of the book, in her interview she says that after making the movie she was left with a sense of adventure, that we should all be going out there and experiencing life, travel, the world, for ourselves. Not just living vicariously through books and movies and computer games. That's definitely something for us all to keep in mind!

Summary: An acurate reflection of the film
Review: This is the "childrens" version of the novelization and surprisingly it it FAR BETTER than the other one aimed at adults written by David Stern. I have seen TR twice since its release and this one represents the script and on screen action much better than Sterns'. Lara has been a heroine to me ever since I read about the video game in an issue of Newsweek four years ago. So it really is important to me that a writer gets her character down cold and that is what Mel Oldam has done in this novelization.

Review: Very good in fact. It adds alot to the movie. More fleshed out characters and such. It's only 6 bucks, so what do you have to ose? Another plus is the 8 pages of pictures featuring the amazingly beautiful Angelina Jolie.
